Community dying?

Yes.

Because our live depends on new announcements and HYPE! (YO!).

So we are dying every day.

New content is what has kept me coming back to KI for the last three years, the hype of new content keeps me going. Recently nothing has been happening, so I have nothing to speculate and post about. The last two characters while interesting really didn’t excite me, rehashes aren’t the most awe inspiring things to add to a game. Couple that with the complete lack of info on the only original character in the lot that’s yet to be revealed and that’s a recipe for a dull time on the forums.

I’m sorry but overpriced gold skin packs isn’t enough to keep me posting, I need something with some meat on it. I was posting frequently until the info stopped trickling in, so until they decide to talk to us again I’m content to just lurk.

wtf is this: update simulator or a fighting game? More playing less crying, scrubs.

It is not dying. There are just the same 5 -10 threads all the time. This thread is around the 6th one of the same topic. They are just worded different. Just because people don’t want to keep responding the same way in the same threads doesn’t mean the community is dying.

I’ve honestly been seeing more and more new people showing up on the forums. A lot of them are just players that have some random issue they’re trying to get help with, so they don’t exactly stay around, but they’re still showing up.
Not to mention a lot of people came out of the woodworks for that Spinal figure contest as well.
If the community was dying would think that only the handfuls of regulars around here would have been known about that, let alone posted in that thread.
Also, considering I’m the TO I suppose it’s also worth noting that the WTF tournament this time around filled up just as quickly as usual, not that it’s as much of a gauge, but IMHO it still shows that there is enthusiasm to be had.
So yeah, I’m pretty sure everyone’s just waiting with baited breath for the next big drop is all.

If you’re in to leveling up your matchup knowledge and overall game, there are roughly 30 matchups to master per character.

There’s your local offline scene to develop or participate in … or try lol! (Here in the Austin area, we have weeklies Wednesday nights, and bi-weeklies Friday nights)

Xbox live arena tournaments are almost done developing.

Tons of online tournaments including @PCKPharrohYami’s Combo Killers.

Go to one of the offline tournaments and play the game.

Shadow Lords.

There is plenty of life in KI … at least imho.

Best.

I COMPLETELY MISSED THAT CONTEST. I was the one who made a post about how I could possibly get a Spinal figure aswell. Sooooo salty. :rage:

Well, the silver lining to that contest is that @rukizzel did word the Spinal figure “likely the last figure (for now)”…so plausible re-release in the future?? That’s how I take it. But I’ll stop getting off topic now.

Oh shoot, we’re dying again? Dang I wish I had my “KI is dying” shirt on, but it’s in the wash since KI was just dying last week. But that’s okay, I will sit back and bask in the warm familiar glow of a troll finding this thread, using it to attack “the community” with a kind of “have you stopped beating your wife yet? Yes or no?!” comment. It’s like coming home to the smell of mom’s home cooking…

Meanwhile, in the dying community I will be playing my second match in the (fourth?) Weekly Tournament of the Forums tomorrow with @WrathOfFulgore, on the offline tournament scene we just had a pretty terrific tournament at Texas Showdown and Combo Breaker is coming up. On stream @STORM179 has streamed two unfathomably epic FT10s against other well known tournament players just this week and @Infilament has put 8 hours of in-depth set analysis on YouTube in the last two weeks. Must be the last gasp of our dying community. Meanwhile I still meet new Killer players literally every time I play Ranked - which takes just a few seconds to find a match.

RIP Killer Instinct Community…

I check in once a month I used to be here daily.

It’s just too dry at the moment lol. Season 3 came and went in a flash it sustained very little hype across the year imo, it was a flash in the pan. Shadow Lords was a complete 50 50 split between people who love it and people who hate it.

Ultimates have been cool but with nothing brand new coming out they feel like an afterthought. I guess because they are not game play related they dont “feel” new.

Along with the fact that not everyone in ki is actually getting one? Another divide.

Killgore and shin hisako are indeed different and fresh but they are certainly not new creations. We get hyped over style and visual and these two have offered little newness more remixed. They are great DLC but they don’t break the mold.

The game is awesome as ever and so is the community but optimism is at all all time low.

What’s the point in discussing a season 4 when most of us don’t even believe there will be one and the other half don’t even believe a season 4 would be a good thing?

Suspense, hype and imagination kept these forms on fire!!!

Unfortunately with nothing new and nothing much new to expect there is very little to talk about :joy::joy: it’s a deathly silence filled with a gold skin every free weeks.

I don’t think the community is dieing I think it’s being killed off. I know the guys at MS are busy but there are things they can do to engage the community that cost no money. Like prompting fan art, making polls or even expending on lore.

Im no expert I have no idea what’s coming. But at this moment the community has nothing much at all.

I love the people here they are the die hard fan and I think they deserve more. I think it would have been better if MS was up-front about what is going to happen with KI.

The tag “if we keep playing there will be more ki” has run thin with me. Does this mean that S3 bombed and they need to now sell dlc remixs and colours to make up profit margins? Lol

If there is good we’ll thought-out and more content I will keep playing. I will keep buying none the less like ALL the guys on this forum who support this game no matter how redundant and mind numbing gold skins are!

I’d rather the guys say that’s all folks but we WILL BE BACK but we don’t know when. Thanks for supporting the game and look out for KI in the future!

That would give us MORE to discuss than what we have today’s :joy:

Limbo isn’t s nice place for anyone ask eyedol! But that’s where I feel Ki is ATM and I feel it’s audience is loosing interest witch is alarming because this audience has single handeldy promoted this game.

Without an active audience KI is a game no one even knows about.

uhhh guys the “remix” characters play completely different, like worlds different. If you play the game casually I guess it feels like there’s nothing new, but if you play to level up then you can’t possibly ignore that you can’t approach these remix characters like you would the “originals”

anyways … while some of us on the forums are feeling down about KI (which you’re perfectly entitled to do btw) … let’s be proactive about growing the community. I showed some KI to 4 guys tonight at our weekly offline, one of which should be a solid competitor soon!

Start or join a weekly offline in your area and be consistent with showing up, ready to teach KI to someone or play KI with them. Even if it’s a Street Fighter V meetup. Just see if you can play KI there.

No one is loosing interest in KI. If we want an audience grow one and stop comparing ourselves to franchises that didn’t have a 20 year hiatus.

Stay positive. #PlayKI

The community goes quiet when nothing is happening…which is normal for any community (depending on the size)…but dying? No, were good

One thing I’ll agree on, it would be nice to see some more lore. I don’t want to pretend I know what goes into updating a game as massive as this one, but with how much of Season 3 focused on Shadow Lords I was expecting there to be more actual character development. I play the mode quite a bit, but you soon find yourself re-running the same mission types over and over, and the bulk of the dossiers tend to be copied from the existing character bios. More content along the lines of that novella would probably go a long way, if only to keep people interested and talking.

i joined mostly to talk matchups and stuff but that kinda chat hasn’t been happening a whole lot lately… maybe people are just waiting for OTHER people to talk about matchups first though? i find those kinds of discussions compelling and help me level up my game while i’m away from the xbox. but i’m also getting very frustrated with my gamepads… i need to get an actual fightstick and then i’ll probably be back to playing daily again.

it would be nice if the individual character forums were a little bit more active. but i’m personally not stressing out too much about the forums being inactive. i imagine lots of people are also too busy playing the game with each other rather than posting about it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dropped a gem on em! All the doubters, trolls, haters and rage quitters should take notes!

Ironically, I think a lot of people are intimidated to participate in the tech sections because they aren’t pro level players and people can be really disparaging. But if you look around you can find some really good discussions in game theory.
