Character Backstory - The Ice-Man Cometh

I know, but there was no suspect writing in Jago’s and Sabrewulf’s updates. This one left me a bit dissapointed.

It’s the new official lore after all.

I agree that for Glacius’s lore, there were more questions than answers, but I think that fits since Glacius is a bit of a mystery anyways. Also Jago and Wulf had some questions left open at the end of their lore. Not as many as the “iceman” though. Still keeps me interested.

When you really think about it, the whole environmental manipulation aspect with their shells really makes sense when it comes to the experimentation with Cinder, despite the fact that they’re literally complete opposites.

Glacius’s NEW UPDATED backstory is excellent and very neat to read about him

BTW and correct me if I’m wrong but Glacius himself and overall his race’s/species’ biological AND biochemical makeups are NOT REALLY made of ice? Their overall bodily makeup are NOT made out of ice after all?

‘Glacius’ being a code name coined by the humans or himself is the explanation I could come up with. Their names are probably not even pronounceable, and given he squeaks and squeals I don’t see how one could learn his name, unless he allowed it (some universal translator lol). Glacius having a shell reminds me of a krab or a lobster, Zoiberg!

If you think about it an Ice alien naming himself Glacius (not a code name, an actual name or if it transilated to Glacius) would be a clever name spun by his biological make up…Except its not clever since everyone is an Ice Alien and its the norm… No one does that…The reverse would be your parents naming you Meatius or MeatBagius since you’re comprised of meat.

The Alien species needs a name, they cant be referred to as Glacius anymore though. Glacius works as a species name, but only if the species relates to it in some way. We now know that Ice Christ isn’t Icy by nature, which makes Glacius as a species name…well…weird…

I’m thinking about this new alien fellow, my guess is that his “adaptation” will be based on based on plant/wildlife he would likely adapted in a less harsh environment probably a more lively place like some sort of forest. “I’m betting on plant themed character”

your point i really interesting.. a hint for a new character .

Jesus hail is getting more buffed? Its already pretty buff as is…

Echoing the sentiment that I hope Glacius doesn’t lose his current tech.

Also, maybe the emphasis thus far on projectiles indicates that they’re interested in making projectile zoning more of a thing? Any Jago main should be able to tell you that in most matchups, Jago is not a credible zoner. There could be a desire to make projectiles a more serious space control tool, somehow, so that the intuition that a character like Jago should have access to a rudimentary zoning game holds truer than it does currently.
That said, Glacius is a credible zoner, so I don’t know that this thinking really applies here. Maybe there are just across-the-board buffs coming to projectiles, and they’re not worried about giving that stuff to Glacius? I don’t know.

Probably my favorite background story so far.

This fits with the sort of “swamp thing” knock of that has come up in some of the other threads. It would be a good tie in. Since we already have ice, fire, and rock/earth characters.

I agree, his name is associated with ice aliens from the original games. This KI seems to be a hybrid of a retold story, continuation, and new concepts altogether. It would explain his tree skin option but still strays a bit far from what we knew about Glacius 1 and 2. I think we are supposed to treat this KI as a new game and not continuation of the originals, even if they borrow from those games.

As stated before, this is a reboot.

Season 1 its like ki1: a tournament hosted by ultratech
Season 2 goes deeper into ultratech maquinations and introduce a new enemy:Gargos
Season 3 is like ki2: Gargos its the enemy and must be stopped

But no time traveling, just boom-tube/slipspace travel

Seems that way. Only reason he is Ice, is he used the Ice from Antarctica to replenish his native shell, damaged during the hard landing.

You know, I just realized something. Jago and Glacius are presumed to be getting improved zoning tools. Sabrewulf is getting a pounce move that rewards him for being patient.

Is it just me, or is the mindset behind S3 to make the game less rushdown oriented and more rewarding to patient players?

This is kind of a sensitive thing I’m speculating here. KI has been bashed for being yolo and for having so many safe rushdown options. But that’s kind of what separates KI from other fighters.

Now that Glacius is a space cop, KI is pretty much one cowboy away from being a multi-species Village People concert.

I’ve said this in other threads, but I think the potential re-working of Glacius (and projectiles, it seems) is probably not so much a change in philosophy, but rather balancing for upcoming Season 3 characters.

At a glance, I’d say that Rash would easily beat Glacius by eating his Hail for breakfast. Maybe it’ll function in a way that is less static and harder to eat. The same kinda thing applies for Kan-Ra, who un-ironically leaves a bunch of bugs on screen (that are all static) for Rash to eat for bunches of meter from full screen.

That also doesn’t consider the other 4-7 characters coming in Season 3.

Where do you get the idea that Glacius is getting reworked?

Rash didn’t beat Glacius that bad during the test period either…

I might have to main Rash, if he can just eat everything. (Planning to anyways, Need a Break from Jago) @LeoFerreis Just hope he isn’t able to eat Aganos’s Chunks.

That would be so OP. Lol

TexAce seems to be convinced that it’s Glacius and Kan-Ra from inside information.

Me saying that Rash beats Glacius is really a big conjecture, since I didn’t really play him… but if we assume that it is in fact Glacius and Kan-Ra who are getting re-worked, then we can connect that they are both zoning characters who rely heavily on projectiles. Coincidentally, a character that eats projectiles for meter is coming in Season 3. At the very least, we know that Jagos’ and Glacius’ projectiles are being improved in some way, unless they’re all teases for Ultimates.

It’s all speculation based off of a rumor and purposely vague hints, but that’s all we have right now. Odds are I’m completely wrong, but I think it sounds at least a bit reasonable.

I never took Rash out of Practice Mode, but his tongue would remove chunks, if I remember correctly. I was able to find some crazy tongue combos that I think would only work on Aganos. But it was all a beta, so I’m not counting on anything.
