Character Backstory - Fulgore Mark 03 Field Manual-L

I’m mad how they said if you Jiggle the wire the unit will immediately Self-Destruct. Like…bruh…

Days without accidental fulgore self destruction: 0

The Fulgore figurines should have a self destruct button. Press the kill switch and it all falls to pieces, lol!

Happy holidays to you and the crew! :santa:

Eh? In what world? A full screen medium laser would be the most broken move in the game

I’m thinking a lot of the nods to old Fulgore (i.e. Reflector) were really just more about flavor text and a nice nod to the history of the character. As a practical matter, there aren’t really too many characters who pressure Fulgore with projectiles in the first place. Pretty much just Spinal and Maya - who pressure everyone with projectiles, and largely in ways that a reflector wouldn’t even be all that useful against. I think people are reading too much into a fun throwaway line.

The bit about his eye laser distancing I do think reflects a new gameplay option for the character. I was thinking some kind of a lock-on function that would thereafter allow his heavy laser to reach full screen, or perhaps just an option to remove its near hitbox to project it further outwards, such that if you’re within a certain range heavy laser can’t get you, but if you’re pretty far out there’s no escape. This would also have the benefit of removing the S1 attribute where you could predict an up-laser, but be completely unable to punish it without meter simply because you’d get clipped by the laser unless your opener was a low profile move like Orchid’s slide. Or they could simply go with Option A from the original poll, and make it full screen but steeper angle (which is what I voted for anyway). The “pip for distance idea” is also interesting, but has the issue that Fulgore once in instinct gains quite the capability to initiate runaway even now, and even with heavy pip canceling can sustain it pretty well. It’s an interesting idea though, and I don’t hate it outright.

I wouldn’t be expecting substantial or incredible buffs though - Fulgore got hit with the damage nerf in the first place because he had so many tools and options. I don’t expect that they’ll be able to give him all that many new options in S3 without having to nerf him once again.

To the IG/MS teams, thanks again for all your hard work, and wishing you all the best for the holidays! Enjoy some rest and time with your families

So in other words, Ultratech just hires loads of PTE’s? (Part Time Employees)

Why give full time benefits to someone who is just going to get blown up by a self destructing Fulgore unit?

I main fulgore and I agree, this would make him broken, I highly doubt this happens.

Yeah I don’t see that happening either.

What if Fulgore’s Shadow Laser gets a angle and range buff. Press Lp and Mp for normal version. Mp and Hp for A straight forward version. Lp and Hp does an angled up version.

what if the laser was a charged attack like the dash blade. Where when you charged it, it took longer to use, but then increased the range up to full screen and then you would be able to aim it much like the predator’s cannon in MKX?

What about this simple idea.

The way Fulgore currently spends a pip to gain an additional plasma bolt, what if he can do the same to instantly adjust a laser shot?

Heavy Laser shoots at what a 30 degree angle? I’m not good with Math by any means but what if you spend a pip to get a double shot however the second shot is at a 60 degree angle?

Medium Laser is what a 0 degree angle? Thus it can be cancelled into a 30 degree one.

Low Laser is at a 300 degree angle and can be cancelled into a 0 degree one aka the medium shot.

Sadira jumping over your fierce laser and for a pip you’ll almost always catch her. If someone jumps over your Medium your pip can knock them out of the sky by cancelling into the fierce laser’s angle. If someone blocks your low laser with a pip you’ll cancel into medium laser which punishes them out of your range on block not to mention button check potentially leading to a full combo. It wont be a frame trap of course and if you block both characters with be safe from a free punish.

I think Fulgore should get a retractable grill.

Hot dogs in seconds.

EDIT: Forgot to mention - I don’t even play Fulgore and this is my favorite back story thus far. I really appreciate the abstract manner in which this was done.

That’s…actually not a bad idea.

Maybe it will be a target lock on during instinct. Hit Hvy P/K to activate lock…shoot laser and it goes full screen. If you get hit, you loose the target lock.

The larger issue with laser and its balance is that for the most part the blasted thing is unpunishable. It comes out and recovers too fast for you to react to it, even with the fastest shadow moves in the game. So you basically have to always predict it, and then (if Fulgore has pips) he can simply DP you in the face in reaction to the freeze even though you read him properly. If you didn’t read him properly, then he’s just going to block your shadow and punish you with whatever. There’s not really any reason for Fulgore NOT to throw out medium lasers all the time already except for reactor speed, and the original heavy laser was very similar in S1, just because it tended to hit grounded opponents as well if they didn’t have a low profiling opener.

That’s why I think whatever they decide to do to it, it’s gonna have to be something slight, and will probably be something that requires pip cancels. Anything else, even with the energy drain to reactor, would just be too potent for a character that already has a slew of options. A half screen, unreactable, unpunishable combo starter that also has a goodly amount of pushback is already a fearsome move (there’s a reason @Infilament always says it’s the best move in the game) - there’s only so much further you can push that bar before it becomes an issue.

It’s pretty obvious that they are talking about Eagle. They made a specific manual because this Fullgore unit is completely different from the rest and requires special attention because of its brain.

Sounds like Fulgore is getting better lasers, a reflective shield, and some weird barrel roll move.

GG

I read the Addendum as a joking reference to the eye laser nerf, though I prefer the interpretation proffered here.

I still like the suggestion that the eye beam range scale with reactor pips. If you have full pips you get full range. It doesn’t seem unbalanced.

From what I read, UT must have used Eagle’s brain data, and copied it to create the brain core but modified it to be a fusion of both his fighting style and UT. little did they know that Eagle’s rebellious nature was also integrated into the programming. I look for Eagle to break free of UT, with the cerbral hookups , ala The Matrix. I saw in an older thread that in Season 3, IG said that a sibling of one of the cast will be added to the roster or a bonus character, many thought it was TJ’s sister, a Riptor clone or an Ultratech employee, no on all three, so that only leaves Eagle or someone else.
