Chance for S4 announcement at E3?

not S4 or new things.

Just 4k KI for scorpio

Well, I think you’ve established that opinions agreeing with you matter but those disagreeing with you are anecdotal and can be dismissed. I wish someone would explain to me why the opinions of a small group of people posting on Reddit matter and are somehow legit, but the opinions of people in this forum don’t.

Sorry, why do I need to go somewhere else? Also, are you sure you are counting correctly? Do you understand the reason why negative comments are always perceived to outnumber positive ones and to be more important? Do you understand how to take a random, self selected group and use their biased responses to identify true public opinion?

I didn’t think so. Since you have fierce disdain for anyone who likes the game or posts anything positive on this silly little message board, I will be the 800th person to ask why you are here?

Ad hominem and pointless attack. @Iago407 posts lots of thoughtful comments and is demonstrably not a fanboy. You, on the other hand have only ever posted trollish, negative comments.

For the record, this is the point where your type and your grievances on this forum lose absolutely all my sympathy and I feel 100% comfortable with dismissing them as a daft trolls.

So you call me a fanboy and then run away? Well, okay, I guess. I’ll say my piece regardless, if you don’t mind, and sure, feel free to ignore it. I get a little wordy, so it’s no problem.

You don’t know me, but I’m a fighting game fan that happens to enjoy this one a good deal. I always give my own personal opinion, positive or negative, on anything and everything KI related when I see fit. Sometimes that coincides with popular opinion, sometimes (no, really, I swear), it doesn’t.

Do I try and dress it up a little to make it more constructive or informative? Sure, I tend to think that’s a little more useful, I suppose, than insulting the developers or simply spreading negativity just so I can feel like I got something off my chest after a nice, long rant. But that’s just me.

I don’t work for MS or IG, I don’t personally know any of the people making the game. I own an Xbox One and a PS4. I feel zero loyalty to something that’s my entertainment and it doesn’t vex me when other people don’t share my opinion about that entertainment. I have no horse in this race beyond simply enjoying this game.

Disagreeing with you, or simply asking for more information doesn’t make me a dead-eyed, slack jawed sheep that loves MS, IG and everything they do any more than constantly slinging negativity around here would make anyone some sort of free thinker or an island of true conviction, floating in a sea of Kool-Aid (drinkers).

You stated that a few people on a message board doesn’t qualify as hype. You then go on to say that “judging by what I’ve seen everywhere else…” So yeah, I see a little hypocrisy there on the surface of it, for fairly obvious reasons, I think. Why is your singular view of a few people on a few sites qualification enough to make declarative statements on general excitement? How is that not just as anecdotal as the few dozen people on a single site?

But rather than call your statement hypocritical outright, I simply asked where “everywhere else” that you were referring to actually was, how many people you’d actually spoken with, and how your view of the hype in those places is any less anecdotal than a few dozen people on a single message board.

See, I was hoping you could provide more evidence and perhaps clarify your argument. Instead, you went with an ad hominem, painting me as a “die hard super fan.” I’d like to point out that disagreeing with you, or simply questioning / challenging you on your opinion or asking for more information, does not make me biased or my opinion compromised.

I was 100% legitimately curious where you were hearing all the negativity from. FWIW, I just checked Eventhubs and the comment response to Riptor’s Ultimate, which is about 30 people (so yeah, still rather anecdotal in spite of the article being a good three weeks old now) seemed relatively mixed. Some people liked it, some hated it. I actually got that same impression on this site as well, albeit in more comments (if I recall correctly). I hardly think that’s everyone being hyped or everyone’s disappointed.

But thanks for providing a few sites, even if youtube tends to skew more negative no matter the topic, and “fansites” seems a bit vague, but whatever.

Maybe next time, try and rise to a challenge and clarify your opinion, provide evidence and make a compelling argument or simply ignore me, as you’re doing right now, instead of assuming my motives or assuming you know me or where I’m coming from. No, I’m not a huge fan of people that constantly complain and spread negativity, but I don’t jump on people simply for having the audacity to state their opinion or besmirch the name of my “sacred totem.”

If I disagree with you, or I want more info, or I’m curious how you know something or why you believe something, I’ll challenge you. I’ll try to engage you in further conversation. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request if you’re asserting an opinion, especially if I think it’s a rather strong opinion, such as “disappointment pretty much squashed any excitement these ultimates may have created [everywhere else I’ve seen].”

If you can’t handle that level of engagement on a forum where conversation is one of the main reasons for being here, well, that’s your problem. Not mine.

Okay… Whew! Sorry to derail the topic. Let’s get back to it!

“People that comment on Reddit and Youtube are unhappy with this additional free content” isn’t exactly the checkmate you seem to think it is.

I suspect they’re not going to announce anything till Scorpio launches. They’re supposedly set on not teasing anything in development anymore, finished games only… lots of silence to look forward to (but its better than potential premature hype and disappointment)

Yeah that was kinda my impression as well. I don’t go to Reddit that often, but saying people on YouTube are unhappy about something isn’t exactly earth shattering.

Well, they still have to have software to sell Scorpio, don’t you think? I mean, they’re not just going to put Scorpio out on a blustery Tuesday in November and be like “oh by the way, here’s MechAssault 3 and a new Conker game and a bunch of other stuff.” They’d want to hype those games to drum up excitement for Scorpio as THE place to play those cool looking games, right?

I do agree that they’re likely being a lot more cautious with what they announce, at least that’s what Phil’s said after the Scalebound mess. I mean, I want finished game, but I also want to be hyped for them and know they’re happening as well, so I have cool stuff to look forward to, ya know? Hope it’s not a lot of silence like you say, though it wouldn’t shock me, I guess.

You know you are a KI super fanboy

I guess he misses the threads of us talking about SL and it’s problems. I can think of 3 off the top of my head. Also good luck on the Shin Hisako dossiers.

I only use YouTube for game hints “find hidden items in a game etc.” I just know that people are more likely to complain if they don’t like something, than if they like it. This is why I never use the opinion of some goofy kid/guy on a web cam as a creditable source.

I DP have one question though. Why does some other persons hype matter to me? If I play a game it is because I like it, and not because others like it. I will play Injustice 2, not because there is a big thread about it, but because I like DC characters and think the games story and characters in it look fun to play.

The only thing I think of when I hear about game hype dying is that the person is saying “The game is not popular anymore and I can’t make money/donations when I play it on stream”.

I still play Pac-Man and SF2, even though those games were declared dead along time ago.

LOL, I like to think that my self worth is wrapped up in how well I can defend a video game against the opinions of complete strangers. I think it really completes me as a person.

DOOD. These things are eluding me like crazy, it’s driving me nuts!! One guy from that thread was like “yeah I got them in one weekend” and here I am, day after day, playing a few hours here and there, but believe me, it adds up, yet these last two measly dossiers… ARG! lol

Especially on YouTube of all places. Does anyone honestly head down in to the comments section on YouTube for balanced, nuanced opinions?

HaDOOOOOOken you wait a moment?

Okay go.
(see what I did there? Lame? Fair enough  )
Personally, I want more content for this game, and if they need to think that we’re gnawing our arms off in anticipation in order to put out more content, then so be it. I’m not sure that’s acctually the case, as I’m sure there are plenty of metrics that they can use to more accurately gauge interest than what we say here.

I think in the end, we all have to decide how much we enjoy the game, how much we want more content and how we want that content presented, so yeah, other people’s hype doesn’t really matter. I think WrathofFulgore was just trying to show Incubuslord that there was some hype, because he wasn’t seeing any.

I don’t have any issues with someone presenting some specific evidence like that, it’s when they use it to speak for an entire fanbase and rope hundreds or thousands of people together as one hive mind just to support their own view that talking about the scene and what they’re doing and how hype people are etc becomes questionable (to me, at least).

I pulled Sonic out on the Game Gear yesterday. I think the hype is through the roof on that game.

Dude why are you even here?

Also just a general note but YouTube comments and Gamefaq are 90% people complaining about stuff because people that are happy don’t feel the need to go out of their way to post about it online. If you want a better idea of what the fanbase think and want a real debate then you’re far more likely to find it here on the official forums where people are always discussing every aspect.

And yeah kinda childish to call someone names and then run away from any responses

God, I hope so.

I agree. A 1 and done full game with minor dlc can work for a larger franchise I think that will get tons of sales up front but smaller games may actually benefit from multiple smaller releases all for a fee. Like, I got dark souls 3 …finished it and sold it and never got the dlc. If the game had yearly new stages and bosses, prob would have kept it even if initial game was smaller in scale…

I do hope for a season 4 but don’t expect much for E3 announcement

In my personal opinion, I would not like another season of KI mainly because of things like more monthly character balances, having to learn more matchups and grind more characters, having to actually pay for another season and potentially the skins that may not come with the bundle on top of that, dealing with more bugs and then having to wait for a while for the bugs to be patched out (tedious process).

Also I would not like to have them bring out new mechanics and more content for the sake of it being, well more content and in low turn low quality content, just think, tJ’s ultimate lol (apologies to the people that actually enjoy it).

Instead of another season, I would love the devs to really refine and go over KI with a fine tooth comb, really cleaning up the nitpicks people have with the game, either done by survey, poll or whatever means needed to gather the data.

Sure, I’d love it if they could upgrade Tusk’s face, Sadira’s hair, Wulf’s retro and other stuff along those lines, plus squash any and all bugs and really give the game a nice coat of polish / once over. I’d love that.

Problem with that though is that there’s no money in it for them simply go through the game like this and upgrade all existing content to our specifications.

It’s not a greed thing either. They get paid for providing content that makes money. This is why all those cries for fixing season one retros have fallen on deaf ears for three plus years now.

Of course, they did go back and relight the stages. But they had practical reasons for doing that and they did this as part of a new season’s content.

They’re also giving us Ultimates for free. Thing is, I don’t really know how much more they can do for free and we also don’t know where the money came from to do Ultimates. My guess is that this was probably a one time thing.

I dunno, maybe we could get them to go through the game this way, but I’d be absolutely shocked if it didn’t have to be within the construct of a new season.

Now, I’d be fine with that. More than fine. I’d be over the moon about that. New characters, new stages, a fun rebalance that upgrades the existing roster and really shakes things up? I love that. But you don’t seem to want that and you’re more than entitled to your opinion, so we can certainly agree to disagree on that, no problem.

We do agree on the coat of polish though. That’d be great if they could somehow get that done.
