You should be able to earn characters like SF5

Like League of Legends, for example. Who also has a rotation of characters allowing people to try out the roster first, like KI is doing.

But KI is a fighting game, first and foremost, so comparing it to other genres of f2p games won’t matter.
Rather compare it to other fighting games who have an f2p model, or something alike it.

  • Tekken Revolution
  • Dead or Alive 5: Last Round
  • Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown
  • Soul Calibur: Lost Swords

I might’ve missed a few, but those are the ones I can remember atm.
So what KI is doing is nothing new. They all more or less follow the same model. Except KI is considered successful while those mentioned above aren’t, with the exception of Tekken. Namco closed down SC:LS’ servers, Itagaki has made an official statement about his displeasure about DoA5’s sales, and Virtua Fighter is generally not very popular outside of Japan.

KI is thriving as it is currently. It is considered a success. So that part of the arguement is put to rest.

In one swoop you’ve invalidated everyone who’s actually attempted to engage you politely. Please have a glass of tea and a deep breath.

Not sure how I missed your response, sorry. I wasn’t passively insulting you guys, just the opposite. I assume you think highly of your game. Oh and I’ve explained later in this thread, there are no whales for this game so to speak, or they’re basically dry wells at this point. There’s no much they can buy if they’ve bought all 3 seasons. Or, you could look at it like the lifetime of a while, other games it is often open ended with recurring purchases, in this game it is rather static, with new purchases available once in a while. So, in season 1 maybe even 2 you could probably say that but not now. Also a whale is typically referenced in mobile gaming and social gaming, console and PC gaming, not so much. Your biggest revenue is going to come from new users. And, mathematically 100k x 20 = 2 million assuming the low tier new purchasers are 10 times the size and buy the minimum 5 dollars, That’s 5 million I believe. I’m not a statistics pro by any means, of course I’m making the numbers up because MS provides no numbers but 10 times the amount isn’t unthinkable for a PC game. Use a conservative estimate 5 times as many new players on PC vs active Xbone players and you still get more from the new users spending the absolute minimum.

Ok… I wanted to open a new topic for this, but I thought it was useless.

In France, KI3 has a VERY BAD REPUTATION FOR VERY BAD REASONS (they just don’t stop trolling around without knowing the game).
So I left the French forums to come HERE, hopping to find a clever, supportive and positive community for KI.

Most of you fit to that clever, supportive and positive community for KI.
But I’m tired of reading ■■■■■■■■■ and useless scandals about KI3 on this forum, from people that don’t understand a thing about the game and what’s around it.

Sorry, I needed to say it at some point.

Which part is untrue? KI was a finical hit? Ms did extend their contract? MS never planned on dropping them? Sales did deliver on expectations? lol

The last two are speculation based on the empirical evidence. Since you work for MS, I wouldn’t expect you to ever let that type of information out. I fully expect you to say something similar to what you just said.

Okay…wow. I can’t even. Nevermind. Certainly an “interesting” thread.

Anyway, someone from Microsoft has seen this thread and my idea. That’s all that really matters. I’m sure they’re intelligent enough to not take the opinions of salty, " I had to pay for it, no fair, I hate this brilliant idea", trolls seriously. All I can hope is it is brought up in one of their meetings, the recognize it’s a great idea, and make plans to implement it in some form.

Huge typo. You’re right.

@MicBlades okay. So can you close this thread now?

I would rather earn more Accessories (ones who can only unlock through hard work) or Classic costumes (for those who don’t have the ultra editions)

Yeah, several somebodies, and you’ve managed to insult them as well in the course of this thread by presuming to tell them what they do and don’t know. So I wouldn’t count on you making the very best of impressions upon them.

Agreed.

I like the business model that IG/MS has in place personally

While I think this is a good idea, at the state KI is right now it wouldn’t work. The reason why it works for League is because they attract so many costumers and they have other sources of revenue like costumes. KI does not have any other form to make money off and only has hardcore fighting game fans not new casuals constantly coming in.

So if they can’t make money of the main characters what else can they make money off? The accessories? People on here hate most of them especially the retro costumes.

Right now going full free 2 play wouldn’t make sense because they don’t have sufficient alternate sources to make money.
