You got your KI in my Halo! ;P

Nah the ordnance was a thing from MW3. I believe it was called “score streak” and it worked in the exact same way. it would build up with every action you performed so you didn’t need a set 3/5/7/11 kills in a row.

It was new to halo but didn’t kill the pacing, gunplay or map control so I was fine with it (aka it may have been used in cod but it didn’t make the game feel unhalo, unlike halo 5 which feels like a random hot cocaine mess, unless you have a really competitive call out screaming team). However the random factor should have been removed for a standardized system for all players in the match instead of being random.

You’re right it’s similar to mw3s support kill streaks but if that’s only thing then oh well games rip off of each other every time for it to say that a game copies cod the game series that hasn’t really had their own ideas in a while is alright.

Yea but the thing is Halo used to be the King. THAT was the game that everybody else tried to emulate. It was the trend setter for the entire genre for nearly a decade and then what happened? they quit being original and took the easy way out. At least in my eyes.

Now this I can understand, as you aren’t wrong there.

The game couldn’t just stay the same, even Bungie knew that and its why they made Reach. Old Halo can’t survive in this industry, if they released Halo 6 and it was just Halo 3 with a new paintjob the game would tank, hard. People have grown up, we’re not sitting in our parents basements anymore enjoying what we thought was the best game in the world. People have expectations now, there are tons of different genres of shooters within the FPS genre itself that they have choices now and to many Halo isn’t their cup of tea whereas before Halo was the only console shooter that was any good.

How do you expect them to set the trends if they don’t grow and change? Its harder and harder to make a trend these days as most everything has already been done. Halo is still amazing to me, its still holding its own niche but to keep relevant it had to adopt new features and as all games do, borrow some from the competition. Halo is still Halo, its us that have grown up and want to recapture that feeling we got from the game and frankly that’s impossible now.

I let my 11 year old nephew play Halo 4 and he thought it was the most amazing thing he had ever seen, I let him play CE, H2 and H3 beforehand as well. Through the eyes of a kid the games are still amazing, we’re just cynical adults who can’t appreciate them for what they are, instead we blame them for what they can’t be to us.

Of course it had to change. i’m not arguing that. I just wanted some originality in those changes. IMO Halo 5 is what Halo 4 should have been. Halo 5 proved that 343 could actually implement new mechanics to the FPS genre with overwhelming success which makes it that much more frustrating knowing that they took the easy way out with 4. It’s not impossible to start new trends nowadays…look at Titanfall. That started one hell of a trend didn’t it? The guys at Activision could not wait to start stealing all of Respawn’s great ideas.

I know what you mean, I’m just speaking from personal experience and to me I went to midnight release for Halo 4, got the LE game and the LE console and enjoyed it thoroughly despite what it may or may not have borrowed. As a Halo fan it was more of what I loved, with a new twist and for that I enjoyed it.

As a random question - how is Halo 4 more a COD clone than Halo 5? 5 introduced far more things taken from other games - general movement buffs, ADS, etc than anything Halo 4 did, and Time To Kill actually seems higher in it than Halo 5. Apart from MP kill streak rewards (that’s basically what they were) Halo 4 was much more an upgrade of Reach’s core systems than anything else. Genuinely curious why one would consider 4 the clone and not 5.

I actually remember Reach being very well received at the time - it was only two or three years after it came out that people started hating on it. Pretty much everyone was pissed about 2’s single player, but it’s multiplayer was likewise very (very) well received.

I went back and played 2 when MCC came out - I thought the campaign was easily the weakest of the bunch. I was done the moment I ran up to an elite with full health, punched him, and then died instantly the moment he punched me back, while I’m pretty sure I didn’t even crack his shield. I was pissed  Halo 2 did a lot for the lore of the series, but it’s actual gameplay was the worst in the series IMO.

You’re right that H5 copies others more than 4 did but the gameplay feels more fluid than the others and not as clunky which makes you feel like super soldier and not a walking bullet sponge however the thing I truly do not like about H5s multiplayer is the way to unlock armor, not only is it by random but there’s like 300 of them so you can’t recognize who truly is a bad ■■■ and who’s not.

2 had the best maps and added alot of new guns, thats why it was so darn awesome to me (also the campaign was pretty fun although short).

I want to see a Fulgore theme helmet and Armor!

Halo has become less appealing to me in some ways sadly it’s like a two way manner. I like the neat stuff they added but still irratated that only Spartans run the multiplayer battlefeilds. I miss seeing mix teams of Sanghelli and Spartans.

The Halo Community isn’t exactly the best either. Infact they’re some of the worst. You wanna go see some bickering that blows your mind with frustration? visit the 343 forums.

Still as far as lore goes still love the franchise.

Ignoring the Halo vs Halo debate*

HELL YES! I love the idea of KI armor and emblems. Thinking of a Fulgore Helmet just gave me a nerdgasm. Maybe a Jago one (Ninja-like, as they did with Ninja Gaiden in Halo 3)? A Retro Glacius face, I think would be doable do.

This really NEEDS to happen, and it’s really a no brainer, with the cross over happening. I really hope they’re working on this.

Head’s up, Spartans!

I just started a thread at Halo Waypoint to see what our Halo playing pals thought about my idea to include some KI related content in Halo 5. Curious about what they think? Click here!

I wonder if they’re ready to let Ultratech into the Halo universe…

This is the very least 343 could add to Halo. KI adding a Halo character is a big deal. It would be the equivalent of adding a KI themed level or KI guns that one would see in normal playlists. A skin would be the equivalent if all KI did for Halo was add a Spartan armor set to Fulgore.

Halo 3 had Ryu hayabusa and a flaming helmet which reappeared in sequels. They could add a Jago and Cinder set.

Add a KI announcer to Halo 5! That’d be cool.

All I really want is a Fulgore helmet, and some weapon skins. A map and the announcer would be cool, but I’d be happy with just the helmet

A unique assassination that looks like a quick Fulgore combo would be a neat addition as well.
