Unfortunately that’s true. I’d rather if possible to just simply include him as part of the official cast. It’d actually be easier to make Shadow Orchid a fund since just like Shago’s animations with Jago’s Orchid’s the same deal really. though I still think Shorchid’s better as a skin.
I’m always super flattered when people read my posts, and even more flattered when they are quoted or supported, but I think we’re just arguing to argue at this point. I’ve said my piece. I’m definitely tired of hearing about Eyedol, but I would have picked him over Gargos. I think IG’s take on Gargos is vastly superior to the original. I’m still not going to get a lot of mileage out of the character though. Likewise, I don’t think Eyedol would ruin the game. When I voted in the poll I put him around the middle of the choices they presented, mostly out of sympathy for the long suffering pro Eyedol crowd.
I think there are better things that they could do for the game. But you know what? Whatever they do I will likely enjoy it. Or else I won’t and then I will just move along. For example, I don’t really care for Arbiter - he just doesn’t appeal to me. But I can appreciate why he’s in the game and acknowledge that he was well made. I’m perfectly willing to accept whatever the developers produce, but people keep demanding some sort of explanation why they would exclude Eyedol. And lots of explanation has been provided - he’s a weird Harryhausen monster that doesn’t fit in the current games style and has two heads - two headed characters are almost always a joke. But people don’t want to accept those reasons. Are any of them insurmountable? No. But adding a MKX story mode and making tag team and No Mercies aren’t insurmountable either. Yet these things aren’t in the game. The devs need to make choices about their vision for KI and whether they feel they can include a character like Eyedol and do a good job with him. Whatever they decide is fine with me. Except if they add in another Sadira. I ■■■■■■■ hate Sadira.
@BigBadAndy understandable.
Also I to dislike Sadira : >
LOL! I do really dislike Sadira, but that was kind of intended as a joke. Humor can be tough on the internet.
Another Sheeple just accepting whatever is made and not voicing his opinion . Just pay your hard earned money and like whatever they give you! LOL… you know im being sarcastic lol
Im kind of getting tired of the Eyedol arguments too… Im ready to just see the last 2 characters and be done with it and lets all play the game and enjoy it while its alive.
Guys its been confirmed!!! The final character is … Shadow Sadira!!! (tongue/cheek)
As one of the haters I hate everything about him. The name, the design, and specifically his name. I’d rather they just give gargos a pair of hairy goat legs.
the main fact is about the stupidity of devs, cause with the stupid move to make all chars back except eyedol, they have broken the community. they would simply have to bring back all classic chars and then make polls for ask what about totally new ones.
try to figure out what would have been if for every char they would have made a poll: of course, since every char has its supporters and detractors, it would have been the total chaos, since every char has its strengths and weaknesses (more than one was worst designed than eyedol). then, depending on how much someone likes a char or not, he would be accented the ones or the others, like it’s happening for eyedol.
let’s say we would had one single slot and 3 chars to take back: then i would understood a poll to test what fans want the more. but in this situation, with only eyedol left and their fans waiting for him till the first season, even place him in a poll with clone, other guest and totally casual chars is not only stupid and foolish, but also offensive to the his fans (so, to me).
this is also the reason that i would have fight this battle to bring him back regardless of the classic character that had been in this foolish, ba***rd situation.
Geez, aggressive much?
Because his design is God awful.
He looks dumb, plays dumb and has no story.
Every time this topic comes up I’ll repeat…Ken Lobb himself stated he didn’t like the design and that he was a rushed thrown together boss that Rare never took seriously or intended to keep after KI1.
and like its been said before. Kim Wu, Tusk, Maya and Gargos had their detractors before they were even considered for this KI. It was back in 2013 during E3’s reveal. Now Gargos and Tusk (just to anme two) have became something more.
If you can three characters form KI-2 from being a simple concept of what they are to something more, the same can be done with Eyedol.
No one in the anti-Eyedol camp is trying to convince you of anything. The thread asked why do we hate Eyedol, and by and large we simply said why we hated Eyedol. No one is asking you to agree with us or change your mind about him.
As to the reimagining piece, Eyedol is a two-headed monster with a club and goat legs. If he is revamped to no longer be a two-headed monster with a club and goat legs, then he has ceased to be Eyedol. As I’ve said before, I think he should come back as the final boss of a hypothetical S4, but if he isn’t going to have these (highly visible and salient) physical characteristics, then they may as well go with another new boss character. There’s room to update Eyedol’s design, but there’s only so much you can revamp it before it ceases to be Eyedol.
The person I was addressing this to already told me.
I was more for Eyedol compared to a character that could not add diversity to a roster.
Some people also said the same thing about other characters. Some have also looked at Thunder and got the same reaction that lots of people have been saying before. I remember when people said that Sabrewulf’s new design was looked like a rat. Even though it was defiantly wolf it was just snarling.
Do we really need ANOTHER large character for this season? Arbiter is a big guy, Gargos is a big guy, RAAM is a big guy, and Tusk is a pretty big guy as well. Probably would be better to have a small and quick character to end the season.
And those people were and continue to be wrong. What are KI 1 Thunder’s distinguishing features? A Native American dude with face paint, two axes, no shirt, and a mohawk made of feathers. KI 2013 kept 3 of those 4 distinguishing characteristics. Jago is a monk/ninja with a sword and a suite of iconic moves - new Jago is more monk than ninja, but kept his sword and distinguishing moves. Orchid is a chick who wears green, twirls, uses twin batons, and turns into a firecat. Check. Riptor was a weird raptor/snake hybrid with tail flips, fire breath, and jumping rake kicks, and that’s pretty much what she is here, though mostly raptor and not much of a snake.
My point is just that characters, as much as they’re updated, still have to retain at least some of their key defining visual and/or special features in order to be effective updates. Maya changed a lot visually, but she’s still thematically a jumpy jungle chick who wields twin daggers. Tusk is still an improbably large dude wielding a huge sword.
Eyedol is a character with an incredibly conspicuous physical appearance - there’s only so much you can play around with that before it ceases to be Eyedol. People keep bringing up Gargos, but Gargos was essentially just a blocky gray dude with wings. There’s a lot of room to play around with that interpretation and still have something that is recognizably Gargos. Eyedol has a lot more distinguishing characteristics that have to be adhered to, which limits the amount of visual rework you can get away with while still having him be recognized as Eyedol.
I guess, as long as that character is unique.
This I do agree with, although just because something has more than one head doesn’t always make it a joke. Even multu-headed monsters can be taken seriously.
The thing I keep hearing about with the Eyedol hate was how he was in the old KI. that’s why I kept brining up Gargos, Kim, Tusk and Maya.
Here’s an example we can follow.
Basically instead of the 3 heads you see here it could be two sharing the neck.
i dont mean to be a uncultured swine… but isn’t that basically Aganos? just in the flesh…
Aganos has faces, not multiple heads. I said two instead of three.
I wouldn’t say you would be. But unless you have another that a multi-headed monster (assuming Eyedol would even keep these things) an be taken seriously.
