Why do some people hate RASH♥?

Why are you so emotional about this? I’m merely stating a completely objective opinion.

How exactly does one sensibly proportion a rock monster??

Aganos’ proportions are balanced. If you don’t understand how he’s proportioned than I can’t help you.

Yes he does, and the fact that you are particularly giving his trailer a pass but burning Rash’s end game quote at the stake shows that you are cherry-picking details for the sake of confirmation bias.

No he doesn’t. Cinder doesn’t break the fourth wall in his trailer dude. You are mistaking a soliloquy with breaking the fourth wall, at best it’s an aside. The audience is hearing Cinder’s thoughts, but he doesn’t expressly address the audience directly. Rash doesn’t just break the fourth wall in his end-game quote. His move set breaks it. He regularly looks at the player and poses in his combos.

Also…if Aria doesn’t morph, where does her blade arm go when she’s in uni-beam mode? How exactly does her body materialize when a new drone selected? No, if she didn’t morph, you would be fighting 3 fluttering drones, not a girl-bot.

Aria transforms. It is clearly not the same thing as someone’s limbs morphing to exaggerated sizes of themselves or changing into different objects on the fly.

Ah…name calling…the internet’s bread & butter. Also classic tactic…can’t really debate with someone toe-to-toe so instead label him something he’s not so you can pass your own opinion off as the only rational choice.

Nobody’s name calling. The fact that you think that’s the case, just reveals that you are thinking about this emotionally, not objectively.

Nobody I know would ever describe me as emotional. But whatever…this thread’s not about me.

Congratulations? You sure about that?

Rash fits just fine. He has various elements that are shared by the rest of the cast, but you want to overlook those because you don’t want him to fit. They don’t support your confirmation bias.

What was that about passing your opinion off as the only rational choice again? I haven’t stated anything saying that Rash doesn’t share elements with the cast. By all means though, feel free to expand. Hopefully it exceeds the level of Rash can do special moves, he can do combos, he can combo break, he can counter break, he can do auto doubles, he has an ultra, etc.

Whatever though; you either agree or you don’t, right?

Generally, that is how it works, albeit not 100% of the time. It is possible for someone to be indifferent, but it doesn’t happen often. So yeah, generally you either agree or you don’t. If I concede my own objective opinion and say I agree, do I receive the benefit of no longer having to read these emotional tirades?

Personally I hope he stays for the long haul like Saberwulf. IMHO he’s a welcome addition to the KI cast, covers the whole comic-style movie monster/ ninja turtle type trope, and his wackyness helps to keep KI from becoming…what’s the term I’m looking for?..full of its own importance?..too big for its britches??..not fun? I guess those work.

Congratulations on having an emotional attachment to the character?

Take this personal back-and-forth to PMs please, or tone down the argumentative aspects of the posts.

Let’s keep personal disagreements out of the thread, and instead focus on objective disagreements!

If by “respected”, you mean “I have to block sometimes at certain ranges”, then most characters in KI are pretty much like that. You rarely have license to make an approach how you want to, because KI is full of powerful specials that come out fast and take up a lot of space.

Where you err is in seeming to think this respect needs to apply after he has hit you. You don’t need a DP to challenge after wrecking ball, and you don’t really need to bother trying to shadow counter most of his stuff - Rash is negative after virtually all of his pressure options.

He’s certainly not my favorite character to fight against, but he’s hardly the only character where you have to be patient and pick your spots. And once you knock him down and he’s got no meter, feel free to go nuts - he doesn’t handle pressure very well himself once you get right on top of him.

Zcythe you hit the nail on the head. I’ll now prove your point beyond a shadow of a doubt. What if the Simpsons show created a new character, but with the style used in South Park. They could use the classic Simpson’s yellow skin color and triangle hair and the character could be the best ever created for the show, but fans of the Simpsons will not take him seriously, because the character doesn’t fit the style and design aesthetic of the Simpsons.

Want another example: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen… The movie while successful was largely panned as a complete disappointment, and part of that reason was three characters… The Fem-bot descepticon, and the two gansta auto-bots. These characters stick out like a sore thumb. Yeah they ALL are transformers, but their design went completely against the natural logic that was created within the real of the first film. There is no logical reason why an autobot would have bling, big ear like appendages, and buck teeth. Not only were these two character racial steriotypes and unfunny, their appearance was completely out of place against the other character designs. The Fem-bot was simply rediculous, as NONE of the other Decepticons nor Autobots could go all Terminator and mimic human beings.

I hate Rash, not because of his moves, his taunt, his carefree attitude. I hate Rash because his inherent design defies the logic in KI. All of the other characters work, because they adhere to a fundamental logic and design pattern. No matter how wacky the concept, the obey the same philosophy, but not Rash.

If you look at MK9 and MKX, every single guest character was designed with the MK formula, so even though you might have Freddy Krueger, Jason, or the Alien of which all come from different universes, they work incredibly well, because Netherrealm Studios patterned their game designs with the same appearance and formula to the rest of the MK cast. While purists will always cry foul, they can’t argue that these characters don’t fit.

Rash doesn’t fit… period. You can tell that IG struggled with trying to force him to feel KIish… But it doesn’t work. His photo realistic skin clashes with his cartoonish smile and overtly cartoony move set. If they were to redesign Rash to make him adhere to KI standards and the KI formula (in terms of style), he would cease to be Rash.

People often compare him to Glacius, but there is a natural science to why Glacius can do the things he can do. He’s an alien, with armor that surrounds his real body with ice. He can manipulate that ice into weapons. It’s integral to his story and his way of surviving.

Spinal isn’t just a random skeleton. He’s a resurrected specter. Everything he can do works because it fits within the realm of KI’s world…

A humanoid frog would be fine, but there is nothing in terms of KI logic that would explain how a frog can morph his appendages into wacky nosensical shapes that would NEVER be used in a real battle, save for a Battletoads game.

Why oh why they didn’t just choose to bring in Johanna Dark, I’ll never understand…

Well said. Thank you for fleshing out my points, lol.

My problems with rash are that the wrecking ball having armor and leading to a hit right after is a bit much, also he does a lot of damage for a rushdown.

I disagree. Rash doesn’t, in my opinion and from match experience, give you a turn. The entire match, one the other player has picked rash is, unless you’re lucky beyond belief, strictly theirs and you might as well not fight until they remove the armour+special move cancels from wrecking ball and reduce the hitsbox on boot+modify his frames so he’s less safe for most if not all of his moves as he is currently.

i just hate that wrecking ball but i love rash i love when people taunt me when playing against him and his music is awesome especially for ultras

Rash does give you a turn. He’s negative on everything. Every single thing. It is your turn every time you block something. Also what special move cancels from wrecking ball? He can’t cancel wrecking ball into anything.

You can AA him in between the hits.

Not really. He does maybe as much damage as ARIA in blade body, and that’s not really much, especially considering he has low variety in auto doubles.

Wrecking ball is easy to punish. If rash tries to wrecking ball against me I just block them flick him. Or orda shield. Or any anti air option tbh. Rash isn’t that difficult to deal with at all. And I’ve fought some of the best ones.

I think it’s fair to say his tricks can be very difficult to deal with until you learn the correct ways to block, counter, or punish them. I don’t think this is as straightforward as something like Wind Kick, you know?

truthfully the only rash ive found difficult to fight is a patient one.

I can only beat Rash 99%of the time with Aganos but everyone else I dont know wtf is wrong with me. I have the tools to annihilate him but I just dont know where to place it.

Rash is Goofy AF on default so comparing him to accessories is a testament to how incredibly Goofy he is. I actually expect Iron Galaxy to put the Mask in th his game (Jim Carey’s The Mask for the young cats). However Rash does fill a important slot and thats the Pyscho Toon character trope. I accept Rash because his theme fits in. KI always needed a Psychotically Dangerous Loony Toony Character.

Never much cared for him now that I know where his weaknesses are, so I can punish people who tend to spam. Great players always have cool combos so I am left in amusement.

I hate that his tongue removes a chunk despite not doing any damage and that if I don’t have meter I just gotta hold the wrecking ball ■■■■.

Pretty sure you shouldn’t have to “hold that” against wrecking ball as Aganos. Unless he’s coming in at a magnificently awkward angle, anti-air flick should serve as a strict punish every time.

Also Natural Disaster beats almost all Aerial attacks by either priority or by driving out of range completely. Remember ND isnt just an attack, its a Mobility option. He’s a Wheel so roll opposite of Rash’s Wrecking Ball.

P.S. you can dodge and counter if its a clean miss on your opponents part. ND can go back ward making it an Overhead Cross-Up too.

it might be that our the fact that he is a troll kinda of broken charter

that is 4 walll braking cuz cinder knew he was makeing a vid game thrillr
