Which Killer Instinct character has the best set of normals?

Aganos is not a high damage character. With walls he can deal huge damage, but his damage overall its low.

Mira its the most damaging character, and she has great mobility. Other big damage characters are Kim Wu, Glacius, Thunder, Tusk…

Tusk has other weakness, his mobility is ok. His mix up game its unsafe and reactable. He punishes reckless opponents who touch buttons and dont block.

Block his attacks and punish, dont jump often, and be careful with your breaks, and you will improve against Tusk. He has problems agaist safe play opponents. Dont be reckless and play cold calm

Great advise bro…Thanks

I think the best character for the footsies poke game is Orchid. She has amazing walk speed and phenomenal buttons. Her instinct and grenade allow for safe vortex’s, shadow meter allows her to take mixup risks, she had a DP.

I like to play neutral a lot and I can safely say her standing HP is one of the best in the game. Similar to spinals except she has better movement and a much better back dash.

In general though Jago is Ryu. He’s balanced with all of the tools with a little KI dirt sprinkled in on him.

He sure seems like it though.

Eh…it really all comes down to MU knowledge I think. There are a LOT of characters in KI that seem OP if you don’t know how to deal with them, and while Tusk is definitely one of them, I also think he has some pretty pronounced weaknesses. He will destroy you if you don’t respect his buttons or if you have bad habits (jumping, always pressing something), but he’s pretty manageable for most of the cast once you understand his game.

How do you punish tusk and take advantage of his weaknesses?

It’s character dependent (and I won’t have the answer for all characters) - who do you play?

In general though, Tusk has a difficult time getting in against serious zoning, dealing with teleports, and catching very mobile characters. He hits hard, but he also hits slowly and in ways that are very telegraphed. If you have an invincible reversal, you can blow up his spirit dash mixups a lot of the time as well.

Jago and glacius.

For Jago, I don’t play him enough to have too much MU experience against Tusk, and from the few times I’ve run into him I definitely did have problems. I think I wound up trying to DP sword strikes if Tusk got too buttonsy, but that’s definitely not something everyone can do. It seemed to work ok though, and it gave me enough breathing room to start some pressure of my own.

Tusk/Glacius is a bad fight for Tusk from what I know. Tusk can’t spirit step under hail I don’t think, and Glacius’ limbs can contest some of the ranges Tusk likes to poke at. You’d be best off asking some of the dedicated Glacius players on the forum though. @SonicDolphin117 @BigBadAndy @Zcythe - your thoughts on Glacius/Tusk?

In my experience, it’s pretty even. Tusk has very good range and damage, a lot of which leads to stagger (extremely bad news for Glacius). It’s extremely ill-advised for Glacius to jump in most circumstances in this MU (my experience anyways) which limits some of his longest poke opportunities, especially when you consider they have hurtboxes anyway.

The flipside is that Glacius players who cleverly use hail and shatter can control the pace and spacing. I find that the majority of these fights are a close tug a war between players of equal skill.

Glacius wins hands down. He’s better than Tusk everywhere on screen.

Isn’t tusk’s only pro is that he does alot of damage?

Whiff punisher and mid-range bullying machine. He does very well against people that throw out unsafe moves. Just keep yourself closed in and he’ll have to do risky stuff to get you.

A whiff punisher with those buttons? What’s he planning to whihff punish? a Dp?

Depends on the character. Some characters are harder to punish than others. I shouldn’t have said whiff punisher first, as it makes it seem it’s his primary trait. He’s really the mid-range bully primarily.

i haven’t played in a while but i know gargos can win entire games with only HK and maaaybe HP

Well, I’m talking about Tusk, but Gargos’ Heavy buttons are pretty good.

oh sorry i didn’t mean to quote you, i don’t understand this forum software

tusk also has some very good ones. really obnoxious character if you know when to press buttons

But how exactly?

Like I said, Glacius wins the neutral everywhere on screen.

Far away, Glacius can zone him out pretty easy and shoulder him if he dash steps too much.

Mid screen, Glacius’ lance and shoulder are faster than anything Tusk can throw out.

Up close, they both suck equally. But Glacius has hails to back him up, Tusk has nothing.

Glacius is almost even with Tusk in terms of overall damage as well.
