Which Character Makes You Groan the Loudest When You See Them on the VS Screen?

Incidentally, I was asking the Street Fighter subreddit what they think of SFV’s characters, and there was a lot of “Ryu because he’s everywhere, he’s easy, and his kit is so powerful.” There’s your Jago, but I’ll bet that doesn’t surprise anyone.

They also said Mika is the most hated character, because of her smothering vortex. I assumed that made her like Rash, but so far this poll is saying he’s not the all-hated character I thought he was. That said, her playstyle does sound very similar to his.

And they also said “Ken sucks because he’s rando-scrub bait who helps new players win.” Ken is definitely their Shago (even though there are serious Kens and Shagos out there yatta yatta).

It’s amazing how profound some of the similarities between fighting games can be

Now THIS is my experience. I’ve started to alt+F4 when the second ultra begins. Don’t have time for a showboating Shago. He can keep the win, but he needs to put that multi-ultra back in his pants.

I’m genuinely surprised at the Mira hatred, she doesn’t bother me too much at all, because I know she has a built-in handicap and I have to respect mastery of any character that’s difficult to use for any reason, I actually get very happy when I see an Aganos a Mira or a Glacius, firstly because it’s so darn rare, secondly because none of these characters feel like a walk in the park to play as.

Ken is frustrating to fight against in SFV due to his kind of “tack on anything you feel like to this hit” shennanigans, so I do understand where the dislike is coming from there.

Archetypes will always persist throughout fighting games, until one of them puts say, a business man who doesn’t know anything about Kung Fu in the main role, there’s always one standard, altogether too balanced male lead (though arguably many considered Orchid as the best fighter in KI1 due to how big you could get your combos to go without too much hassle) it’d be nice if this weren’t always the case because these type of characters are always the ones people choose due to their uncomplex tools to deal with pretty much anything that is thrown at them.

So naturally these types of characters are always the ones you’re going to be seeing every, or every other match until somebody one day decides to have a total rethink of the genre as a whole.

Glacius. I can take Rash, Gargos, Sadira or other controversial chars without salt. But this ■■■■■■■ rushdown supposed-to-be zoner makes me go hulk.

Riptor is my Kryptonite.

Hi.

Obviously Eyedol. But, an actual character is Gargos.

Hello Jago number one thousand and forty.

Any character spammed enough can be a groan inducing moment-

One thousand and forty-one. My master @TheNinjaOstrich is one thousand and forty.

Nobody makes me groan, I’m not that stuck up. Players are what makes a match frustrating, not their characters.

Rash. That stupid, dumb, idiotic, rage inducing wrecking ball.

I don’t groan, but I do get nervous having to face down Rash. It’s doable, but that Wrecking Ball can be tough to deal with. I usually find myself just deciding to block the incoming mixup and live with it.

I often die trying.

Shadow Jago. Every time he comes up I know am going to be taken for a rid. I either have the reaction time to counter his teleports or I don’t OR I don’t have the right character to deal with the endless fireballs they throw when they are losing.

Stuck up? Really?

I mean yeah, a little. It seems pretty pointless to get grumpy over seeing a character on the vs screen when you know nothing about the player behind the character. I get more “groany” when I see people with 3 top-32 killer stars by their name, not when I see the character they use. :stuck_out_tongue:

To each their own. I groan when I see Riptor because I don’t exactly know how to play against her, yet (I’m working on it), but I will eventually. It’s not so much a groan, as it is an “Ooohhh boy” moment.

In the case of the over saturation of Jagos it’s more a “this again, really?” eyeroll or if it’s a character I’m nervous about fighting it’s uncomfortable shifting in my chair and trying to focus. I’m not really sure being stuck up has anything at all to do with it.

Don’t get me wrong, there are characters that I sometimes get worried about but I try to reserve judgement until the match starts. I’ve met Hisakos that have made me rage and others that I mop the floor with, it all depends on who’s manning the controller.

Maybe stuck up wasn’t the best word, I just try to avoid judging any character prematurely.
