When Aganos was taking longer than expected in season 2, they gave us a bonus character in Omen, which I thought was both unexpected and awesome of them to do.
Now that Eyedol is out, it’ll be a rather long wait between 7/22 and late September when Shadow Lords is dropping. Seems like it’d be a great time to have another bonus character bridge the gap for the month of August, and I’m really hoping that’s why the “reimagined character” question was on the season 3 survey.
So that said, here’s what I’d like to see going forward:
-August: Pre-Transformation Cinder revealed as a bonus character, available in late August.
-September: Shadow Lords and Multiplayer component drop.
-November: Season 4 announced
-December: A DLC pack announced with the following:
-One retro stage from the original KI (my preference would be for Cinder’s Stage)
-One retro stage from KI Gold (my preference would be for Kim Wu’s Stage)
-One new set of accessories for three characters: Shadow Jago, Omen and the S3 bonus character
-Late February / Early March: DLC pack drops
-Season 4 begins in May
-Updates:
-Season 4’s colors change from green and purple to red, black and silver
-Refined select screen with less smoke and improved animations
-Redone “Fight On” screen that has darker, more cinematic look to it
-Combo fonts all streamlined to match the “Awesome / Supreme victory” font
-Loading content screen at the beginning changed to slide show of character hero art
-Updated dojo mode that reflects current game mechanics
-Graphical upgrade project: Characters faces and hair all touched up or completely redone as needed
-Character rebalance: No new mechanics introduced, but buffs and nerfs as needed plus a new special move for a few characters whose move lists seem a bit thinner than the rest of the cast.
-Ultimates for everyone
-First four characters drop in late May: Eagle, Magical Archer, Wendigo and Djinn
-In late June: Lovecraftian character
-In late July: Shoot Fighter / Judo - Ground grappler type character with multi-part throws and takedowns that incorporate strikes that are breakable
-In late August: KI Gold Training Sage character (reimagined as Jago’s sensei), cuz KI needs a wily old sage
-In late September: New final boss character for the whole game
-In late October: Shadow Orchid as a 9th bonus character to tie us over until the season 4 story mode releases.
-In early December: The final story mode, which incorporates whatever they wanted to improve upon in Shadow Lords, also geared toward the new boss, with more cinematic content, items, etc than S3 Shadow Lords (not saying there isn’t enough, as I obviously haven’t played it yet, but more is better,
)
After that…
I’d say switch to a strictly DLC model. Stages for Mira, Eyedol, Raam, Rash, any season 4 characters that don’t get stages, classic stages, accessories, etc. This game could be supported for an additional couple of years with just this stuff alone.
That’s what I’d like to see.
