"What makes you think I'll be easy prey? Because you lack "KILLER INSTINCT".... I have engaged in Mortal Kombat

that was my first train of thought, his reply, putting emphasis on MK

Mya.. easy prey
Cheetah, cheetah costume (similar to Mya’s), I do believe you are correct sir

I agree, if I’m honest. NRS combat always feels rather clunky to me, don’t know why. It just does. As for the reference, I’ve not heard it myself and part of whether it’s meant probably comes from the delivery.

MKX and Injustice 2 stop being clunky when you understand how the combos work. In KI you combo as you go. In the other games you put the whole combo in at once.

Yeah, I think it’s a cute little easter egg. A nice little nod to a fellow Chicago dev. It doesn’t mean anything. At best, it’d be trolling MK vs KI, but I don’t think they were even attempting that much. As long as KI is console exclusive, an MK vs KI game won’t happen. That said, I wouldn’t hate it if they swapped a guest character or two at some point, and I don’t think they would either. Wouldn’t surprise me if NRS and IG had at least a someone friendly relationship.

I think it’s that, certainly, which takes some getting used to, but I also think that NRS fighting games have a certain pattern of animation that to some at least, looks a bit choppy or sped up, like certain startup animations are missing or certain things just move a shade too fast compared to other fighters.

I know that’s not really specific, and don’t get me wrong, I’ve been an MK fan since the beginning, so I’m not trying to bag on the games, but some animations don’t feel as fluid from start to finish as you’d expect them to feel when you’ve played certain other games. That’s not to say that MK / Injustice animations are bad, and choppy might not be the right word. It’s more that it’s just a different animation style, where the moves come out faster, attack windows feel smaller, etc.

For me, after playing KI, MKX and Injustice both feel awkward animation-wise because of this, and it tends to mess with my timing, which makes things feel a bit unnatural at times, or like I’m going against what my brain tells me should be the attack window, the combo timing (which I believe you alluded to) or how quickly a kick comes out when I jump, or the timing on cross ups, etc that I don’t really seem to have a problem with when it comes to moving from KI to other most other fighters. I guess that’s on me.

To be clear though, playing an NRS game for a while tends to alleviate the awkwardness and I believe that both NRS series are of high quality. I certainly enjoy them!

Guest character appearance is up to Microsoft and nrs.

Yeah, I mean if anything, it might be up to WB and Microsoft, unless NRS has some sort of control over MK that puts them in the driver’s seat as opposed to WB, but I’d imagine WB and MS have close relationships to NRS and IG respectively, and if the devs came to them and said “we’d like to make this happen,” I have a feeling it could be worked out, at least in theory.
