What does the future hold for KI after S3

Well, personally I do not want a full on sequel at all. That would just lower the character roster number, remove a lot of things that many people like, and add stuff that could have been added to the original game. With fighting game sequels especially, a lot of things are removed from the game and replaced with new stuff, or nothing at all.
(R.I.P. Solid Snake ) A good game to compare this to would be Minecraft. Both games instead of using sequels to add content, they add it with updates, or in KI’s case, seasons. What if Mojang just stopped working on Minecraft and announced “Minecraft 2?”

I do not mean that sequels are bad or should not happen, but this game does not need one. There is literally nothing that a sequel could add to the game that could not be done with a season or update. All you would be getting is slightly different gameplay for more money and less content. If it removed nothing and only added stuff, then it would just be an update posing as a sequel. (cough Street Fighter 4 cough)

And if you want the game to stay where it is without any more content… I mean no offense, but just don’t update the game.

I agree, I would not like a sequel any time soon, but your comparison to minecraft isn’t the best point, they are completely different genre therefore should not be compared when referring to things like sequels and dlc; the requirements for captivating peoples interest in a game like minecraft is completely different in a game like Killer Instinct.
In the end of the day they probably will continue to release content for KI if it’s making money as that is the definitive goal for any company.

Alright, I guess so. I only meant the way that the games add content is very similar, not the games themselves. I compared them because I would have the same reaction to Minecraft 2 as I would Killer instinct 2.

I understand your intentions by comparing, but mincraft would never need a sequel because every change that people may want can be delivered through updates. The difference between a new season and a new game would just be a bigger step, new season = new characters and stages
new game = new graphics, new roster, new gameplay mechanics, possible new modes

I want Forza Car as a guest character!

Wel they could awlays focus on adding thing slike New stages and Nre game features. Like Ultimates

Bumblebeeeeeeeeee!

Yeah but, all of those things can also be added in an season or update. Like the new lighting and shadow lords mode. And “New Roster” basically means certain characters will be removed and others will be added. If your main is an “important” character like Jago or Ryu, you can play the same character in all the games in the series. If your main is a one-off or “unimportant” character like say, D. Dark or Reiko, you’ll have to switch mains to another one-off character in the sequel, or stick with the main popular characters that will not be leaving the series.

I do not mean that there should never be a sequel to this game, however. If a sequel is made, I do hope that no characters are removed, like the sequels of Blazblue have been doing. (which are basically updates anyway) It is the worst thing when your favorite character is taken out for the sequel, or if your two favorites are in different games.

And about the Minecraft comparison, I get that they are different genres and it might have been better to compare KI to another game, but it really isn’t that bad of a comparison. Any new content that Minecraft can have can just be updated into the game. Same with Killer Instinct, or many other games. Though I specifically mean new content, and not slightly different content. If Minecraft 2 only added content and hardly changed the existing content, it’s basically a just paid update (not that there is anything inherently wrong with that.) If Killer Instinct did the same thing, then it would also be a paid update (also known as season.) Sequels are usually more focused on “different” content, rather then only new additions. So if you want a new fighter or mode, you do not need to make a whole new game to do that. If you want to make some radical changes and/or remove some stuff, then that’s when it should be a sequel instead of an update.

They’d be hesitant to make massive change in an update and a new game drops with complete change compared to small tweaks in dlc. Beside losing my character wouldn’t be so bad, Change can be good.
My point is any company is willing to invest more money to make a new game then a dlc and no one has the money to throw around to add masses of new content in dlc, if they did they would

It will be along time before a sequel.
