What does the future hold for KI after S3

I think they should do a mini-season with 4 new characters in March, then take a 2-3 year break.

Then start from scratch with KI2 with 8-12 characters.

Bigger budget
ULTIMATES/NO MERCIES ARE MANDATORY
Better stage finishers

I really hope it’s season 4. A season full of original IG characters sounds like a dream (no more guests) also it should have eyedol.

I don’t think there is a need for a Season 4. Hopefully Season 3 adds a good amount of content to cap the game off and then MS should consider a sequel game with a bigger launch than Season 1. The fact is that Season 3 is still pretty new so I wouldn’t expect a sequel for a good 3 years.

Season 3 is the last. Which I feel leaving off on a decent-good note is the way to go. After this just keep supporting with bug fixes, online fixes, some balance patches if necessary etc etc.

Then have the rest of IG focus on KI2.

there’s plenty of content to add outside of just characters. No doubt in my mind there will at least be some dlc, extra costumes, more modes, maybe more stages (classic stages anyone?) I HOPE we can at least get the KI2 themes in training mode and maybe additional dojo challenges for other characters.

Yes . Been saying this season 2 launch. WHY aren’t the ki 2 themes in practice mode ?? Literally makes no sense.

I think they have enough characters. I hate when a fighting game has 30+ characters, there is such a thing as overkill. Just like everything in life, moderation is key. All that needs to be done is some heavy polishing up on this game. If they want to add a new fighting mode (Tag-team) that would be awesome. Some new colors, accessories would be welcomed.

I just think the lighting and the blacks need to be brought back to Season 1 + 2 because it affected all the character colors and also leaves a flash/gloss over most characters that makes it clash like crazy. If they can fix this that would be amazing. Purple shadows option to revert back to Classic would make me so happy I’d cry. Fixing animations of TJ, Maya, Kim and Vs screen fixes: Kim looks horrible in the Vs screen and totally disproportionate. Some characters follow suit and match each others’ proportions in the Vs screen and others look unaligned or distant.

All this being said, there really is no need for Season 4. They just need some major patch fixes/adjustments to the game to make it great once again.

if they make a season 4 it better include stages for the season 3 characters that got ripped off as well as stages for the new characters, i’d be okay if it was only 6 characters but id like to see eyedol, and the rest of the characters to be brand new KI characters not guests

Well obviously we’ll get some micropatches, some tweaks here and there but going into a Season 4 could mean KI’s downfall in revenue. To be truly honest, if the devs cut Eyedol from Season 3 then there’s two ways it can go:

  1. We can totally forget that he existed in the story, we can say Orchid destroyed him in the tournament, or since this is a reboot, the devs could say that Ultratech never noticed Eyedol at all.

  2. Excuse for a fourth season. Personally, I think this is a stupid Idea, but it might sell well. Season 4 could Include new modes, 7 new/guest (all guests are probably going to be in Season 3) characters without stages, and a new UI.

But then again, since KI is a budget game, MS and IG probably don’t have enough money left to do a Season 4 and just need to move on their next game, and hopefully in about more than 3 years time, there would be another KI game.

So I don’t think anything is gonna happen after Season 3 except bug fixes and tweaks.

I don’t understand people who don’t want more content. Making a sequel to this game would be a mistake, no one wants to start over again on characters, instead lets just keep adding characters to the awesome platform that is KI.

Having more characters does not equal a better fighter. That just creates clusters of nonsense.

clearly Killer Instinct has proven to be popular enough with number of downloads, and presumably a money-maker.

Between S4 and KI2, I think it just depends on how soon the next console is coming out. If the next console is over three years away, for instance, than MS would be losing out on all sorts of money by letting KI sit stagnant until KI2 (they already said they preferred seasons for this KI rather than restarting with KI2 while on the X1). They’re not gonna let even one year go buy without monetizing this game, it just doesn’t make any business sense. With Shadow Lords they’ve proven that they’re really willing to think outside the box in terms of providing value worth buying. They could well have plans that we never thought of before.

All KI characters are good. IG make awesome characters. It is not like other fighting games.

Hopefully a season dedicated to Ultimates and new stages. Because this game is lacking those features which will make the game perfect in my opinion (though the stages I can kinda live without because we got so many already)

I think after season 3 we’re good on characters unless Eyedol isn’t in. Then we should go ahead and add him for season4 and also Ultimates and stages.

KI2 is too far. We don’t even have the new console. That means at least 3 years later. Grafics are not going to be much better. We will have less characters and the community will be dead until then. Nostalgia will not have the time too happen and the returning characters will not be as hype as now.

Season 4 will be next year. We will have all the characters of the game and new ones. We need the stages and any other feature that will happen is fine. The game is growing and it shouldn’t stop at this point. I think it a great time to grow its legacy. Guys just announce season 4.

Season4 Rabbts Season!

They planned on having the game last throughout the Xbox One’s lifespan. So a sequel may not occur until next Xbox.

That’s fine. I mean I don’t think it’s a good idea to have more characters then we have now. If it becomes to much then it’s just gona get ugly. Nobody wants that.

why would it be ugly, lots of fighting games have more characters than KI, as long as they kept the quality up I really dont see how it would be an issue

There’s a good list why having more characters is a bad thing then having a smaller cast.
