We need a ninja or a ninjalike character

But his sword style is WAY different. We dont have a true swordsman or character who fight 100% with a sword so..

uh
tusk?

On the topic of Ninjas: I’m seeing a lot of semantics about what is and isn’t a ninja, but I’m not seeing a lot of game play discussion. How would you design a character that fits in (and also stands out from) the cast? What tools would they use and how would they be used in game? What playstyle do people imagine for them? How about their instinct?
These are the types of questions that would get these character ideas noticed by the devs. There’s a huge number of of cool tropes and legends from across pop culture around the world, but they need to think of a way to make it interesting to play before they’d even consider putting it in the game.

i have an ideas one based on a ninja game I played a while back

The ninja game had the philosophy that the small ninja sword should ONLY be used to deal the killing blow. Never anywhere else. So to translate this into gameplay the ninja would rely on tools to set up debuffs on the foe and the more debuffs is on the opponent the stronger the one swing ā€œsword specialsā€ ( they could look similar to Johnny from guilty gear special sword attacks. Angled ones for anti airs, command grab ones and maybe a otg one like skewer from tusk)

So like poison either from a Kunai or a poison cloud, a slow like kan ra done by hamstringing, a blind that partially hides various parts of the ninja bodyin a mist/haze stuff like that that can be inflicted by grabs, command throws, projectiles, traps.

full time 100% with a sword just like in Samurai Shodown.

Jubei

##Haohmaru

Galford

Hanzo Hattori

…and the list goes on

Almost all of his specials, a good chunk of his normals, all of his command normals, his back throw, his OTG Follow Ups, his intro/outro/time out animations, and even his taunt all use his sword.
If that doesn’t qualify someone as a swordsman, I don’t know what does.

If you’re looking for a samurai, there’s rumbles in Shadow Lords about an ancient katana that contains the spirit of a guardian that people have been speculating is involved with a future character, so stay tuned.

Hmmmm I’d take raiden since he does have some sowrdsmenship (self taught mixed with his stuff) and actually has finesse to his moves unlike tusk who just swings his sword wildly in hopes that it hits something.

Or maybe even…what’s his face? That one guy…or was it a chick I can’t remember now.

You mean Tusk doesn’t count? he uses it 100 percent of the time kicking is just something you can expect.

Like I said better a ninja who can use something other than a sword. Hell just a kunai usiage as a dagger would be fine, anything other than a sword.

Too many swords different weapon would be nice to make it unique. Besides Ninjas use more than swords I’m sure of it, not everyone of em does it and it would be nice to see a uniqe weapon for a ninja.

Tusk AND Spinal are both 100% sword fighters. Jago wields a sword, but also use punches.

So yeah, let’s give this new ninja guy some other weapon.
I still vote kusarigama.

Ummm tusk also punches…

We need an old dirty man..yeah I said it.

8 devil’s of Kimon. The coolest band of Ninja and Samurai characters I’ve seen.

Perhaps tie into Hisako’s story?

But he mainly uses his sword. A few backhand jabs isn’t enough to denote that he is mainly a swordfighter. Where as Jago has his sword sheathed and mainly punches, but has a few moves where he pulls out the sword for attacks.

Spinal also uses his shield to bash with, doesn’t mean he isn’t a swordfighter.

Jaog pretty much uses his sword for most of his punch normals.

Where are you getting this information from? I don’t find your sources credible.

to say tusk () is a swordsmen and turn around and say jago is not…pretty funny I must admit.

Plus too…jago has control over his sword unlike…that other guy.

@anon39655210 @BoJima404

Maybe this could be potential for a new character?

I never once stated that Jago is NOT a swordfighter…
What I mean is that Tusk uses his sword for (almost) all his moves and special moves, while Jago does indeed use it for his M.Punch and H.Punch, but then only uses it for one special move. Meaning that he uses his sword less than both Tusk and Spinal.
But not ONCE did I say that Jago is NOT a swordfighter.

So there’s no need to try and antagonize me by directly lying.

Again, a sword. So would rather not.

Then you mgiht want to word your stuff better because you imply that jago is not a swordsmen.

dont get your hopes too high folks. This may be just another guardian for shadow lords. Just like the sword familiar on Castlevania SOTN. Notice a new sixty slot on guardians menu.

idk it literally says its waiting for THE right person to pick it up. i doubt it will be a gaurdian that anyone can use if it wants a specific person to pick it up

that said we dont have a super samurai dude bro/gal yet. something like samurai showdown haomaru or genjuro or baiken from guilty gear.

the sword could be for the ninja that uses it in an unconventional way like…idk with his/her feet? like raiden from metal gear rising? or…their mouth?(it has been done before)

What about Sadira?? Doesn’t she lead a clan of assassins, which last time i checked were basically ninjas?

As far as lore goes, maybe that SL katana could bring back that guy from Hisako’s story as a ghost samurai.

That being said, I think Sadira and Jago cover the ninja stuff fine. Maybe that samurai could use other Japanese weapons to get something other than another sword-like weapon. After a few seconds of Google searching, maybe a kusarigama or something could be used for a weapon.

she may be an assasin as a job but her literal play style is spider girl through and through.

besides assasins technically are just killers for hire. they dont necessarily fight or look like ninjas.
