Ultra Breakers!

The losing player has PLENTY of opportunities to come back before the ultra is initated. but THEY have to work for it and think a bit more in their strategy. Simply put, if I am beating you for whatever reason in the game, you have to think about my actions and how I am doing them, and you need to change up your own strategy to overcome it.

This game offers so much chances for that, the only reason the losing player loses is simply because they did not adjust their strategy in that particular moment.

I can’t even tell you how many times I battled someone who was wipin the floor with me, and after adjusting I not only was able to put their life to mine, but I came out on top and WON.

Simply put I don’t this idea is justifyable by any means.

We continue to post because we are trying to make a point. This is a forum. Just as you have the right to make disagreements with people’s own suggestions and ideas, so those have a right to share their point of views.

This is a forum, you can’t expect everyone to agree with everything you say and vice-versa.

I also think your logic does NOT makes since. Because all they have to do is wait for them to do a double Ultra which is EASY to pick up on, all ya have to do is just wait and you can see it coming a mile away. It’s predictable

Also your argument about flip-outs and stagger doesn’t make a good comparison because thos ehappen in the MIDDLE of a match, no wins or losses have been determined yet. They also add set ups and potential combos.

This feature your suggesting happens at the end where the victor has already been determined.

It sounds to me like you are tired of getting triple ultra’d while I can understand how you feel it is what it is. If you don’t want to quit your matches when you get ultra’d (more power to you) then simply look away from the game and do something else while your opponent has their victory lap.

You’re simply tryin to deter people from doing ultras. While I don’t like getting Ultra’d like crazy myself it doesn’t mean those folks who earned the victory over me deserve to be punished if they won fair and square.

We call that sportsmanship. That’s like tripping someone who won a race fair and square and gets to run around joyously for their hard work and accomplishment. It’s like punsihing a kid for getting an A in a math exam and the student who got the D thinks they should be punished.

Simply put, you wanna stop people from Ultraing you, you better get the upper-hand before that happens.

From all the rules you put out to this mechanic, as others have said, only just punishes free-styling. In YOUR logic, the only way you can break it is when your opponent does or prepares for a second ultra. So that begs the question: what’s to stop (or rather what’s the risk of) me from simply doing just one ultra, ultra ender, or stage ultra and be done with it?

Say I’m doing an ultra but I don’t have instinct meter to cancel or decide to cut it short, the win is still mine and there was nothing the loosing player could have done about it. Really the only characters this will mainly effect are those with recaptures unless you REALLY have been saving your instinct bar just to do another ultra (and even then if your’re winning, you likely won’t get a full bar anyway). And if players start to just do one ultra from now on, then it renders your entire setup of how ultra breakers work pointless and makes ultras themselves more boring than exciting.

What I’m trying to say is while your idea is…interesting to say the least, the way you have it set up makes it very impractical. If you’re going to the trouble of implementing another comeback mechanic, at least make it more accessible to where it actually feels more like a potential come back in the grand scheme of things rather than “oh hey I just remembered I can do this”.

Look thats fine and we could get into that deeper, because maybe you are kinda starting to unnderstand the mechanics at this point. We can discuss this at a later time, as for the time being ima have me a few drinks play a few rounds and then continue on tommorow or so after work.

K? Till then Cheers and have a good one.

I did not read any posts in this thread, i am just here to give my vote…

Nice constructive criticism there brony…

When I used to play KI on the SNES I would always try to go for killer combos…which then was 13+ hits. It just had the most damage, & combo breakers were hard to pull off, so they weren’t as big of a threat as they are now (I’m sure that’s debatable)…but as I upped the difficulty the computer just kept breaking every large combo I ever pulled off…pretty much anything over 4 hits, without fail…so I stopped trying to pull off killer combos, because they were a death sentence. The same would happen to Ultras if there was a way to break them. If you even had the slightest suspicion that your opponent was able to & was going to break it, you would never use it. Nobody would. If you had a win in the bag, you’re not going to risk it on a victory lap. Being able to break them would effectively end their use or want, & then there would be no more Ultras. I don’t think anyone would want that.

There have been probably around 10 threads in the last 3 months about this. All of them were full of constructive criticism, including my own. The “talking” phase is over, now everyone needs to just get used to ultras.

Way to be uninformed, and hateful at the same time.

#And also I love you. <3

I would love it if carrying on with an obnoxious 100+ hit ultra carried some risk to it. Make it not only breakable, but if it’s broken, the loser becomes the winner.

Why would they even make it possible to do a 100+ hit ultra if they were just going to punish people for using it? Why not just nerf the whole thing down to singles only with 1 juggle attempt? The bottom line is not everybody plays the game the same way for the same reason. Some people want to climb the competitive ladder, some want to see how massively large they can make an Ultra. & both ways encourage players to engage…why would they want to take that away?

Guys, guys, guys! I thought we agreed this was a troll thread?

Pack it up, and GTFO. OP is in no mood to listen to rational thought so let the thread die.

Why add combo breakers in the 1st place then? Lol If you read some of the replies the answers are there

Now that would be too cheap that would be considered stealing the game which is not the way this is intended to be applied.

Combo breakers are added for balance purposes. Otherwise, you can get really hih damage combos that are unbreakable. Imagine if every character had Sadira’s Season 1 unbreakable but way easier and you can do it mid match. Now Ultras? They already won. After they won,no balance is needed.

It was a rhetorical question

Why add Ultra Breakers in the first place? Lol if you read some of the replies the answers are there.

On a serious note. There are several valid reasons to not want to add this as a feature. Personally, I’m not for it because it’s not something that I feel should be important.
Based on the information given in the OP, the feature is either a) not a relevant feature to gameplay, since having it serves the exact same function as the Quit option or simply waiting for the Ultra to be over and doing something else; or b) it would serve a purpose that wouldn’t fit in the game, by negating a mechanic designed to reward the winning player so that a player who’s already lost with a come back they didn’t earn.
I know the idea of sitting through a long Ultra combo is a salty subject for a lot of people, but if you’ve already lost it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to try and be rid of it. All an Ultra breaker sounds does is extend a game that was rightfully already over, or serve a function that already exists. If something causes you to lose a game, I can see a reason to complain. But if you’ve already lost, what’s a few extra seconds of your time?
This whole thing sounds a lot like the threads where people want taunting and “victory crouching” to be punished. It’s less about something that actually advances gameplay, and more about salt.

Now, I understand that long ultras can be annoying -I frequently end my own early, if the opponent is respectful-. If I’m facing am opponent who’s taunting and t-baggin’ and talking ■■■■ over the mic, I reserve my right to beat the pixels out of them.

I should also point out that if someone disagrees with an idea, it’s typically not because they dislike the person or can’t wrap their head around the idea. I’m fairly certain most of us are here to have a civil discussion about the game Killer Instinct, and that a good number of us have basic reading comprehension skills enough to understand what a post on a forum means.
For example: I’m against the idea of Ultra Breakers. I understand the idea and why someone would want it, but I disagree for the reasons I’ve listed. It’s also not because I hold resentment against you or other people who are in support of this idea. If someone is criticizing your content, remember that they’re talking about your written work. They are not criticizing your moral character or you as an individual.

Being open to discussion of ideas that aren’t necessarily popular is good. Being dismissive of opinions that go against the ideas presented is a good way to get your ideas dismissed.

Everybody knows that ultra breakers are ridiculous and will never be implemented.

It would just be so satisfying to shut down the sweaty tryhards who make Ultras into something obnoxious. It’s a fantasy. Not a sincere request.

I don’t think it’s a ridiculous idea may be the way you put it would be ridiculous.

In my perspective its just adding counter breakers and combo breakers during an ultra.

Seems totally doable and no one has really said how this would break the game with a valid point that couldn’t be fixed or adjusted.

They have, its been pointed out several times to you. But you seem to think that even though we’ve pointed out its flaws, it should still make it in the game somehow. Its not a feature we need, and its not one the devs will ever give you because its simply too much effort for adding basically nothing to the game. You have shown a remarkable child-like stubbornness with this entire thread, it should have ended at a post count of 5, not almost a 100.

They could also create a stage that is nothing but purple slime and has garden gnomes running around in it, and THAT wouldn’t “break the game” either.

The question isn’t “would it break the game” its “WOULD IT IMPROVE THE GAME?”

Adding Ultra Breakers would not make the game better, it would just give cry-babies satisfaction that they can lose, end the ultra, and jump right back in to losing some more, without wasting time.

If you don’t already take about 2 minutes to think about the game and how you could’ve done better, THEN YOU SHOULD BE USING THE TIME YOU’RE BEING ULTRA’D TO THINK ABOUT IT.

I’m tired of everyone saying it’s an issue of “time”.

If you are mad enough that you would want to break an Ultra, the you are WAY to upset to play another match immediately after. So you NEED to stop playing for a minute anyway!

NOW do you understand?

EDIT: Also, Post 100! (of which i am ashamed )
