Ultimates are coming!

So what are the chances of the devs improving tj’s ultimate. It seems like it’s universally disliked.

You know what they say about assuming…

I haven’t seen that many good comments about his ultimate which I’m sure there is but I can’t find them but I’d say that it’s up to the devs.

You make lemonade? Wait that doesn’t sound right…

Nah.

Assumptions are like farts - they stink and nobody likes them…

…wait.

When making an assumption, one must break a few eggs?
¯_(ツ)_/¯

It makes an ■■■ out of ewe and Ming?

First off who is Ming, and how does she turn sheep into donkeys?

I kid, I kid. You’re right though. I happen to think Combo’s Ultimate is pretty awesome as is.

I just would of liked it if we got a glimpse of what to come so when it actuality came we could be wowed with the hole thing instead of knowing everything before its out.

Whoa! Red flags everywhere (not literally, by the way).

You got a point there. I guess I was actually thinking more of a stage ultra than a proper ultimate. Wouldn’t make sense indeed.

That’s the (very narrow) definition given by the Oxford Dictionary. To my knowledge, the definition of political correctness is much broader, referring to everything meant to avoid offending certain groups in society. Not only those “socially disadvantaged or discriminated against”. If you consider that there is a group in society that will be offended by violence portrayed in video games (and there is), then toning down that violence in order not to offend that particular group of people can be perceived as a form of political correctness. You could also argue that the decision of not bringing back Thunder’s and Orchid’s original retro costumes is a form of political correctness for the same reason, but, again, these things are debatable since they derive from personal and subjective points of view; what offends you may not offend me and vice versa.
What bothered me most about these ultimates is that the violence is present but is either censored, implied or toned down. It’s there, but at the same time it’s not. I’d prefer to either fully see it or have it removed completely. Having it being there but censored, toned down or implied gives me the impression of being restrained for fear of offending someone (hence, “politically correct”), but that’s my own perception.
That’s to say: you’re free to disagree with what I said, but that does not necessary mean I’m wrong, nor is my perception of “political correctness”.

To be honest, neither was I. Nothing concrete, that is. Perhaps something more nonsensical, in the vein of the original KIs (meteor showers, elephants dropping out of nowhere and such). Or perhaps I was expecting violence to either be fully shown or removed altogether, not censored or toned down, as previously stated.

Oh boy, some sword slashes and a giant fireball…yawn. And the losers are on fire but don’t even looked charred. Dumb. Making them look charred would’ve made this ultimate 100% more satisfying and believable.

The loser’s face hitting the blades is off-screen. Lame. MKvsDCU anyone?

I watched this several times. What actually proves the loser’s neck breaks? Looks like they just get knocked out and their body goes limp. Why not just punch them into the screen like his classic no mercy? That would’ve been much better.

Oh boy, he stomps on the loser with some lightning. You don’t even get to see if the loser is burning and charred…yawn. Again, seeing the loser charred on the ground would’ve made this 100% more satisfying.

This is actually the only one that passes as a decent kill move, but it’s still off-screen. Again, lame.

even if it’s off screen, death is death.

Is it ebcause your not seeing the blood and gore? If not, then why?

Also, they ahd to ahve a way to ahve it fit witht he T-rating. In cotnrast to ultras which shows the character’s downed animation still moving.

Seriously, MKvsDCU’s finishers were way more brutal than these, and that game was Teen rated. These could’ve been much more creative.

Maybe they could be more creative, but you’re not a developer for IG so you don’t get to dictate how creative or brutal Ultimates are in this game.

Really? I didn’t realize I didn’t work for IG. Whew, that was a close one. Thanks for reminding me that my opinion doesn’t matter because I don’t work for the company that made the game.

I’m sort of fascinated by your desire for “proof of death” related to the Ultimates. I’m not sure why they must be 100% confirmed to be dead in order to pop up again in the next round.

You like what you like, and that’s fine. But I don’t think it was a realistic expectation to think we would get charred remains in KI. Partly because the game has avoided that level of graphic violence, but also because they aren’t creating new assets for these finishers.

You’re welcome for reminding you that you don’t work on a budget title like KI that doesn’t have the time or manpower of other big titles like MK vs DC but are still giving us Ultimates after we clamored for them for a long time AND they’re free.

I happened to like that game. The way they handled finishers in that game was very tactful. And the same applies to KI. Besides, whoever said an ultimate has to kill the opponent? Really, it just has to look awesome - that’s it.
