Thoughts or tips on getting away from combo assist?

So I used to struggle with execution. I blamed my input device so I got one of the KI fightsticks that came out early into the games life. Turns out I’ve never used a fightstick before so there was a crazy learning curve that I had to endure.

I knew it was a muscle memory thing though so what I did was I’d go to training mode with jago and I would just commit to throwing 20 fireballs from one side without missing the input, if I missed it I’d reset the count to 0. Once I was comfortable with that I’d go to the other side of the screen and do them in the other direction. I did this for a while when loading the game. Once I felt good with the fireballs I then worked on doing the same thing with DP inputs.

Once you have these in muscle memory you’re all set.

Of course now I have a hitbox which honestly if you want to skip all of that is the best route. Super easy to learn and really hard to drop inputs.

Thanks Storm, i think I will definitely try both of these. I appreciate the advice!

I really like that idea! I’ve always been keen on having something to specific to practice, and the jago endokuken motion is great. It has a very clear feedback of a ball of flame!

Just curious, what is a hitbox? I thought this was a technical term in relation to the space of a character in a game, but it sounds like you’re referring to it as a piece of hardware?

It is a technical term. But it’s also a piece of hardware. http://www.hitboxarcade.com/

Hey that’s kind of cool!
