Amazing, isn’t it?

I’m still waiting for the results in one of the awards I have entered my book in on WattPad. Each time they post the results and it’s for something else, I get nervous.

Hang in there man.

So my parents and I are out of town for vacation, we had great time until I found dead baby shark in the jars at Sharkheads Souvenir City today, and I really don’t want to look at them long since it’s very disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. Poor them…

Well as of one minute ago I turned in my last assignment for the semester. Therefore I am done with graduate school!

…done for now at least

So I checked around Wattpad, and the contest I entered released the next set of results, but only for historical fiction. Each time they do that, I get nervous, always thinking who will emerge for the Fanfic side? There’s tough competition for sure.

Welp, just got hired for my first job a while back. Looks I’ll be flipping burgers at the local burger shop near my school after classes. Gotta pay for college somehow

So while I was at work this morning (I work security at a poultry processing plant) the site’s IT guy came up to talk to me out of nowhere. We have a PC in our main guard station and awhile back on my down time I was using Excel to update some of the paperwork we use on a daily basis, and while I did I was using my own personal MS account to do so. Shortly after that my boss was told she was going to have to start using Excel to do payroll and scheduling, and the IT guy was helping her get it set up. When he did he noticed I had forgot to log out, and more importantly, my MS account had a Fulgore avatar…I haven’t gotten around to changing it in awhile. Anyway, he came up to me today and started asking me about KI. He said a friend of his started getting him into the game and was wanting to see what kind of controller I use (Xbox Elite, BTW). We didn’t talk long, and he seemed more interested in finding a good controller/fightstick more than anything, but anyway, I feel like I did my part to help strengthen the KI community a little bit today. :sunglasses:

Well, this summer wasn’t kind to me at all. Some weeks back I got hit with a virus that gave everyone else colds, but gave me Bronchitis (which is basically a temporary version of Asthma, according to the papers my medicine came with). Then I find out a week later I developed allergies, which I never had in my life either.

Also with my good computer being used to find work (spoilers: nothing found), I’m using my old laptop to be here now; it’s so old it’s built-in keyboard rotted, leaving me to have a separate one plugged in, and I have to fiddle with it to keep the wifi from making it run at 10FPS (like flushing a car’s motor basically).

Outside of that though, I did finally get a LAN cable for the Xbox. Goodbye lag and random disconnects hopefully.

Started working for a new company five months ago and now in my last month of a six month trial period. So far, I like the job. So assuming they keep me, I would also be keen on staying longer.

I have been switching jobs every 2 years for the last six years as it’s a common way to increase one’s salary here in Japan. However, I’m done with that (no, not the salary increases, you dummy) and hope to just work at my current employer for the next 10 years.

Been spending quite some time getting to know the Japanese SNK fighting game scene. I never realized how popular the SNK characters still were across Asia. Of course I knew about the South and middle Americans FGC love for retro SNK fighting games but I am really surprised by the Korean, Chinese and Japanese love for everything SNK, KOF.

Twice a week I join either offline or online tournaments and I enjoy it a lot. Now I am thinking if I should compete at Evo Japan in multiple games or not…just for fun. Originally I was planning to only do samurai Shodown but since it’s once a year I might as well try Soul Calibur and SFV too.

The good thing about Evo Japan is that the KI community will have a side tournament so it’s another excuse to join the tournament coming January.

End of my ramblings…

I said it on Twitter already, but I’ll say it here too, congratulations!! Before you know it, he’ll be working on his DPs and anti-airs. I know when my youngest son was little…er…littler… he was humming Spinal’s theme…I’m wanting to say before he could even say dada, but it might have been shortly after.

I do know I missed KI’s initial announcement because I was changing his diaper. And it was the only part of that E3 presentation I missed!!!

Anyway, congrats!!

So recently I finally decided to start learning how to use Linux. I haven’t gotten far yet, I can just do some basic command line file navigation (which to be honest really seemed intimidating until I realized it wasn’t very dissimilar from using DOS when I was in high school). I’ve mostly been learning Ubuntu through Windows 10, but just a few days ago I also got a Raspberry Pi Zero W, and this case for it to run Retropie:

So far I’ve really been enjoying it. I haven’t had an original Gameboy in years, and even though it isn’t exactly the same, it’s not too far off. But it comes with all the issues you’d expect from a Raspberry Pi setup. I started out having connection issues with it. The speaker in the case only outputs one channel of stereo sound instead of mono, so some games don’t sound right, and the only fix I’ve found just kills the stereo outright for mono even if you use headphones. And the Retropie front end displays Genesis games as Megadrive, and when I went in to attempt to fix it I just ended up deleting the entire Genesis folder as well. Also the process of getting box art for all the games I installed has been a pain. It has 2 separate databases that does it for you automatically, but it has some really baffling gaps, like only 2 of the 8 or so Zelda games I installed had any box art, Megaman X2 and X3 initally showed up as completely separate non-Mega Man games, and so on. It’s definitely been a fun learning experience.

Yeah, that’s the kind of hobby it is to build your own retro game device. When everything is sketchy in the legal department and all of the materials are scraped together by volunteers. This is what “crowdsourced” is not the future of commercial software.

But it can be a lot of fun to turn her around, solve problems and just have fun with that stuff.

Welp…who knew my new job could be so tiring. And its only been 2 weeks! Burger flipping is difficult, who knew about 80 people would want burgers at 10pm. Oh well.

I’m a little upset that I wasn’t able to go the esports info meeting because of a shift. I wasn’t even able to go to the club fair. Hopefully its not to late to join something. I honestly have so much free time its weird (apart from work.) College is nothing like high school. Only 3 classes for 3 days? What the hell am I supposed to do? I’ve done homework until next week. I gonna have to get used to this adult life thing.
