i hit the red ranks on feng wei, it was rough but i officially broke free of the noob ranks. more work to be done, more habits to break, and i need to start upping my wall combo usage
I don’t know exactly what was leaked, only that some new Tekken content was leaked SO PLEASE DO NOT POST SPOILERS HERE thanks everyone
Or USE spoiler tags
So first of all, Harada himself confirmed on the TWT stage that there were no leaks. So great to hear nothing went wrong there.
Second, here are all the trailers from Namco’s official YouTube channel, for those who missed them (which is probably most of us, since the tournament lasted until 6 A.M.):
It should be noted that Leroy and Ganryu will be releasing this Tuesday, which is weirdly disjointed in terms of release dates IMO, since that means only one new character in March.
Leroy looks great, good to know he’s not just a clone of W.Jinrei from the older games. The other new character (who name apparently translates to “Roaring Thunder”) has some interesting mechanics shown off (though RIP to Bruce’s chances of getting in I guess). And Ganryu is a classic so nothing much to say there gameplay-wise, but I did notice his new design looks like that one Dynasty Warriors character.
Overall great new characters, and hopefully this spells a good future for Tekken as a whole.
Didn’t Harada conduct a popularity poll that showed Ganryu was the least popular Tekken character?
Also, Disappointed there’s no Kiriyu.
Harada liked him though, so I guess that superceded everyone else.
Also I did some searching on the Steam forum and apparently Murray had confirmed months ago that there would be no guests in Season Pass 3, so if that was true then so be it.
On a side note, why did you want Kiryu anyways? Earlier in the topic you said you never played the Yakuza games, and that you just watched Completionist play one of the games. I mean, I never played them either, but I was sympathetic toward the Kiryu fans who wanted him since Season 1 (I still feel they got cheated by SquareEnix and Noctis IMO). Did you feel the same way, or did you just want more guests? What was stopping you from wanting legacy characters like Kunimitsu, Jun, Bruce, etc.? Are you secretly from the year 40,000? Guest characters are considered chaotic after all.
But seriously though, I’m just curious why you cared at all. You never confirmed you had a real attachment to Kiryu like the people who played since the Dreamcast games (or at least the PS4 ones).
I was mostly attached to Kiryu because of the fan demand and because the videos I’ve seen convinced me he could have an interesting playstyle. I still like plenty of legacy characters though. Ogre, Kunimitsu, Roger, and Alex are all major wants of mine.
As are Crash Bandicoot and Solid Snake.
Which is weird since you hate Virtua Fighter, which Kiryu’s moveset is heavily derived from. But proper VF characters worked great in DOA5, so I guess Kiryu could have worked in Tekken. At least you didn’t ask for Mokujin, having the living embodiment of Random Select in the Season Pass would be a complete waste (if they must charge money for him, make him separate from the passes like Eliza).
Snake would have been cool, but EVO probably ruined that chance forever. Also Crash has like 3 actual moves in the old games, even Negan had like 10 moves from TWD as reference.
I never said I hated Virtua Fighter. I said I’ve never played it.
Also, crash had two games that were full on beat em ups. As long as his physical design is based on the classic stuff, I don’t think people would care if he had those moves. Most people would probably just think they were Tekken Originals anyway.
Also, why would EVO ruin Snake’s chances? Harada would just be mad at EVO themselves. Not Konami or MGS. They had nothing to do with it. Plus, a Snake reveal would always be exciting for people. All EVO really did was get the idea in people’s heads.
Also, no need to spoiler it. I was just trying to effect the mood.
Love that Leroy hits all stereotypes. Great addition, and happy to try him out. The Muay Thai guy is a welcome addition too. Now all I need to do is remember how to spell and pronounce his name.
You said you hated the idea of any fighter with less than 4 attack buttons (like your earlier posts bashing DoA), so I just assumed you hated VF on the same principle. Maybe I misread your posts at one point.
And yet most people would burn the house down if they found out Crash was confirmed (like they tried to do with Negan).
sigh I miss when game developers did what they wanted with their character rosters, and it wasn’t considered a cardinal sin. Nowadays stuff like MvC would never be tolerated if it debuted in this day and age…
Make no mistake, Snake could definitely work, and it’s because of EVO’s garbage people actually wanted him in Tekken. But Konami is like Square-Enix: They’re a nightmare to work with. Also fun fact, Cloud was supposed to be in the PS2 version of Soul Calibur 2 before Square pulled out of the deal at the last moment, which is why Namco put Heihachi instead. While that may sound random, it’s just proof that some companies never change their attitudes (to this day I still think Square’s mentality is the sole reason we got Noctis instead of Tifa). Konami has proven no different in that regard, money notwithstanding.
I can’t take risks with spoilers. I still remember when the Steam forums bugged out and showed all spoilers at all times, which made a lot of us angry (and probably got people banned for no good reason, knowing Steam). It’s also the reason I was so reluctant to post MK11 story discussions at one point in this forum.
the end is hilarious
I own the game but not all seasons. Never been a fan of dramatically bouncing characters after what looks like getting hit by nothing but a light jab. But with a lack of good 3D fighters (only Tekken, SC and DOA are left), I have no choice but to invest in Tekken.
Looking closely at the trailer, I’m still going to be playing MK11 but I’m keeping Tekken 7 (PS4 version) real close.
fahkurmom looks like a cool character, i want to try him for sure
I see what you did there
Patch is live on PS4.
You can’t buy Ganryu and Leroy yet obviously, but you can fight their AIs in Arcade and Treasure Battle. So I’m not sure if they showed this in the trailer, but just like Fahkumram Leroy has attacks that cause knockdown to blocking opponents. I only fought him once in Treasure Battle though (after an hour of searching) so I only got to see so much. Also Ganryu is apparently voiced by the actor who voices Goro Majima in the Yakuza games, so there’s that too.
More importantly is that you can now make most of the male characters look like Harada with the “Bearded Man” customization set, and the new training modes that let you practice punishes and expands the Sample Combos sections. Now we just have to wait until Ganryu and Leroy are up on the stores.
I have little funds on my XB1 and probably not enough to buy the entire season. Would like Leroy AND Ganryu, so I hope $11 is enough for two characters I really dig Leroy but Ganryu looks fun to me.
i have issues spelling his name, what can i say lol
So about this statement I said before:
Apparently, this only applies to his cane combo move they showed in the trailer. But weirdly enough, they made it so you can only use it once per match. Really strange since other characters have Rage Drives that do a similar super launch property, but those can be used once per round (while mean potentially multiple times a match)
Other than that Leroy is great so far, like Geese and Jin he can stop an opponent’s offense with proper use of his parries (and like Geese and Jin he can apparently stop Rage Arts with them too).
And Ganryu is good, since unlike with Tekken 5 I can pretend to know how he plays nowadays (or years, rather). Counter hit into sumo throw stance is fun.
FAHKUMRAM HYPE
Anyone else hyped for Fahkumram in Tekken 7?
Not really. I have no nostalgic connection with him (because he’s new) his gameplay doesn’t look particularly interesting to me at least, and his design is very eh.
