saying he doesn’t add anything gameplay wise doesn’t really make sense…he is far more unique than most other characters and is one of the few charge command grab characters…he has very different normals from the rest of the cast and doesn’t play like anyone…soo…I just de bunked your point (if it were a shoto it would make some sense but it isn’t sooo…good one)…even then they could change him up…Look what they did with Bison and Nash they are not like their old selves so why cant Q change?
also define what is considered ‘valuable’ in terms of fighting style
my points just give further reason to why he should be in the game…
The definition of what is considered “valuable” is whatever I say it is. That’s what opinions are. Incidentally, they also can’t be “debunked.” (Which is one word, by the way) Statements like “Q is more popular then Guile” can be debunked - but not opinions.
Q’s moves are slow and uninteresting. His style is mixed and incoherent. I don’t recall him having a charge command throw, but maybe that’s just because it’s a terrible idea. He has charge punches and bizarre three claw swipe move that makes no sense from either a design standpoint or as gameplay.
But of course, clearly you’re right. Q is beloved and Capcom just prefers to bring less popular characters like Guile back instead because they are too in awe of Q’s brilliant gameplay and design.
I really, really, fives times more really wish they would bring Makoto into this game.
I’m having such a hard time landing on a character. Nobody in the cast fits me the way mains in other games do. Lately I’ve been playing more Cammy than anything - but that’s partially because I don’t want to give up the option to do very meaningful damage off of an anti-air with meter.
I feel like a man without a home in this game.
Anyone who’s played against me - who would you imagine me playing SFV, knowing what you know of how I play KI?
Also - you know how people feel about Mika? That’s how I feel about Ken.
Ken is my favorite…this SF5 version is the best version of Ken they ever made. I love his running step kick…its so awesome! I wish I had more time to play SF5…but between KI, BB and DS I just cant find time for it.
I’d guess Makoto for her movement, grappling, and pressure (axe kick) options, but she’s not in the game. I play Karin because I like her space control in the neutral, and her rekkas remind me of Hisako in the way that she has different mixups within them. She actually really fit well with me, but I guess she’s not quite what you’re looking for.
Her anti-air options are balls though - I just jump up and air-to-air people half the time. It’s way more effective.
I played Karin primarily through the Beta and I’ve picked her up here and there. Totally conflicted about her actually. I enjoy the way she plays but her AA game is frustrating as you’ve mentioned, and I really hate the Orochi input. It’s not hard - it’s just wonky. Feels wrong. Tenko I have no problem with, but I wish they would have come up with something a little more ergonomic for Orochi. I like her normals and her Rekka though.
To be fair, the only reason I feel the way I do about Ken right now is because I keep letting him get away with absolute hot garbage in neutral. It’s my problem - not Ken’s.
But his face and hair? Yeah, Ken’s gonna have to hold those Ls.
Right?! She’s got just about everything except for a proper reversal, which she really doesn’t need considering the rest of her toolkit. Really versatile too, so when you have to adapt for a MU you’re not taking such a large leap.
Everyone that plays SF should have at least some semblance of a Ryu, LOL
Oh word! I only ever switched to Ryu when I wanted a break from Juri and Makoto - I figured I had a basic understanding of the archetype which would be enough to win low to mid level matches online, LOL
Heh. That’s how I treat Jago in this game. Play him just enough to be dangerous at an intermediate level, with no desire to really take him to that next level.
