There has to be, they’re claiming to support the game over multiple years right?
It’s easy to suggest that they release the game in the KI model. But some accountant is looking at the release and pointing out (probably rightly) that every SF release in history makes 85% of its money in the first month of release and 95% in the first six months. Can they really keep making DLC without the income generated by the game actually selling? I’d love to think so but the financial status of Capcom and the way this game was made suggests they can’t.
Also, I think we sometimes forget how much KI and their 6 fighters at launch was criticized for not being s full game. People in the FGC and the casual market scoffed at it as a rushed, “budget” title being shoveled out for launch. Only begrudgingly did they admit that what was there was actually a good game. Now we have two more seasons of constant work built into the game so the comparison is easy to make in KI’s favor.
My point being I wouldn’t be so quick to say “if only Capcom had launched like KI they would be fine.” I think they probably would have been better off waiting to launch in June with four additional characters and a finished story mode. But they kind of tried to split the difference and it didn’t work.
Yeah - just betting that some level of that support is contingent on meeting sales goals.
Also, this made me lol:
Is that music from Plok?
Max is a smart guy. He pretty much has it all right, as far as I’m concerned.
The interesting thing about this is we can finally do the test and see if a game can be financially lucrative based on the competitive scene. It shouldn’t take long to find out…
Oro is not a character that ever needs to be seen again…
What’s the guy in the suit is he popular
That’s Q. I don’t know much about him, but there’s a good mod of him for Zangief:
Q is not popular in any real sense. But there are fans who want to see him come back and so he pops up every now and then. He is only in SFIII: Third Strike, where his story is mysterious (is he a robot or a person?) and his animations are very good. Although I don’t have anything against Q, I do think he is a character whose design is jarringly different than the rest of the SF roster and I wouldn’t say his fighting style adds anything particularly valuable to the series.
I thought Q looked really cool when I first seen him in 3rd strike earlier this year…then I played him…uhhhh…not what I was expecting. I was dissapointed to say the least.
He is definitely DIFFERENT!
.Ummm Q was the 3rd most requested character in USF4…how is he not popular…
.Alex,Urien and Q tend to be the most requested characters to return from 3
.Capcom officials said that he is often very high up in polls for returning characters including SF5
.For play-style would you have someone unique like Q or have more Shotos…
Q was ranked 10th for favourite character: (HE BEAT PEOPLE LIKE GUILE, BISON AND ALEX)
(Birdie was one of the lowest and made it into SF5)
Q returning makes the most sense from another SF3 character (Oro and Sean after him)
My new colors for Ken’s default costume colors:
Download link is in the YouTube video description.
I kept his default color as #10 so nobody has to loose his original look by downloading the mod.
Maybe it’s because I never really spent time with SF2 but I think overall, SF3 series had the best characters. I would love to see Q, Oro, Necro, Twelve, Urien, and Gill to return. So much more interesting and unique compared to the SF2 cast IMO.
It’s easy to be a popularly requested character when almost all the others have already made it into the game. I wouldn’t put much stock in non-scientific polls. In fact, if the result suggests that Q is more popular than Guile than its pretty clear evidence that the poll is worthless. You could always go play SF III online and notice how many people are playing Q…
Well by that logic…anyone who doesn’t play Shotos or other anomalies (like Chun-li or Cammy) shouldn’t be in the game since well…everyone plays shotos and a few others with street fighter online (generally)
let me ask you how many Gief players do you see on SF5 online or even SF4… Also despite guile being new…he is not played often online and in tournaments in SF5
http://www.eventhubs.com/stats/sf3-3s/
Also Q is ranked 9th most played SF3 character…beating Ibuki…who is a DLC character…
http://www.eventhubs.com/stats/sf4/
Guile is not even in the top 10 most played USF4 characters
Also after Bison got revealed in SF5, Q was on of the characters a lot of people wanted to see make it into the initial roster
My evidence points to Q being a good spot in SF5 based on character popularity, amount of people who played him online, Poll results and word from Capcom suggesting his popularity amongst fans…I will leave it at that (maybe)
This is a false comparison. USF4 has many more characters to choose from than SFIII. Even according to your links, Guile is in the top third of the roster (of 44 characters) and Q just breaks the top half of the 19 character roster of SF III.
Even then…is that reason enough for a character like Q not to be in SF5???
also you are not looking at my entire point but rather nit picking certain aspects…
Like I said…poll results, word from Capcom, fan requests, character popularity are reason enough for Q to be in…that is more than enough reason
Please point to a single line where I said Q shouldn’t be in SF V? I said he doesn’t add anything from the point of view of gameplay. As is your habit you are misreading, misquoting and generally making a mess out of the conversation.
