Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

So long as it’s fixed in a week, I doubt it’ll be much of an issue at all long-term. The internet freaks out about, well, everything, but most of the time the furor dies down soon enough. In the grand scheme of things I don’t think it will be an issue for the game or negatively impact sales all that much. It’s more just a big embarrassment, and personally annoying for all the fans who bought the game early. I think some of the schadenfreude and doomsaying could probably be toned down to be honest.

As someone who tends toward character specialist, I actually like that I don’t have to waste time choosing a character every time I go into a match. It’d be nice to be able to change my color on the fly, but I’m not terribly worried about that either. The UI also doesn’t really ■■■■ me off on any deep or visceral level - I recognize it could probably be better, but overall I’m just not someone who cares all that much about such things. If I really really get into SFV maybe I’ll care more, but at present I just want to play the ■■■■ thing online :unamused:

Just gonna leave this here.

That’s good! People can play now. But Still, the lack of content and weird barriers are still there. Hopefully they can update it quickly.

I think a lot of people are looking for faults to satisfy their lack of choosing SFV but KI really had and still has to date say more skepticism regarding modes costumes grinding and ultimates.

So I wouldn’t put much weight on naysayers and reviews other than to just decide if you want it or not. Did a you tubers rant about KI not having ultimates or Fulgore in season one launch keep you from buying it?

Is Pot, mad because he can’t immediately get color 5, or choose a random character Ina casual fight at launch, is he in a lower position than Kettle who paid $80 for a game with 2 costumes and 6 fighters and no story mode without ultimates?

Either you want it and have the money or means to get it, or gain enough knowledge to choose for yourself to support the FGC as a whole and understand that ALL current games are works in progress. Get on the train early, or wait a couple years. Why cry about it in the meantime.

SFV is a visual masterpiece that will grow and rise to potentially being one of the few top go-to fighting games for its lush animations and rewarding practice of learning its system. Music is involving and uniquely odd at times (check Karins theme and Rashids wonderful ethnic but trancey theme), and DLC will enliven the game monthly.

Sound familiar ?

I give it a thumbs up

There is no doubt I will still get it, the only thing now is getting it. LOL I don’t know if I want to buy a PS4 for Street Fighter. (I would, need to restrict myself for a PC  )

You overall point is a good one, but it wasn’t even possible to pay $80 for KI at launch… You could get it for $40 at most.

EDIT: I was going to post this separately but it probably makes sense here. Apologies for the long edit.

While many of us may have a tiny inner fanboy reveling in launch troubles for SFV, and certainly I don’t intend to question or silence legitimate discussion about what the game needs, I think we should probably all take a step back and realize one thing for certain - A bad launch for SF is not a good thing for KI. At most you can argue it is completely neutral. I doubt there is a sea of casual gamers who are simultaneously aware of both games, with a system/platform to play both and also saying to themselves “I am only going to buy one fighting game this year. What should it be?” The hardcore FGC crowd are going to play the game, one way or the other, and decide where to invest their time and energy based on the merits of the game.

Although not to such a great extent as SF IV, SF V is a rising tide that lifts all boats. It has generated a lot of interest in the genre, driven people to fighting game videos and streams, watching EVO etc. These are places where people can also be exposed to KI who might otherwise not know about it. Wanting Capcom to fail at this is shortsighted.

Right it’s our FGC community that I want to keep faith in.

Some seem ready to tear down any advancement and yes KI hangs in that balance

I guess we are all just nervous. We want it to be successful.

And imagine the weight on killer instinct season 3 release launch on PC servers.

There are armies ready to trash the whole series regardless

Ok

Survival helps me understand the street fighter unique engine a bit better!

I love how the learning curve enlists you to higher understanding of skill and risk reward - a lot of it came to me in just 23 survival fights so far-

I love how a special move can be powered up with v trigger (sort of like shadow meter), and makes that move almost unblockable
Or recently like Keits new Jago fireball charge where it will OUTRANK any other projectile or move OMG

Footsies are a beast and can change the game almost entirely in that you MUST learn your hitbox and spatial relationship of your normals!

I had a rather interesting bout with Ken and Laura especially in that some of Ryu normals like D+HP DOESNT ALWAYS MEAN A MORTAL KOMBAT extended confirmed long reach punch!!! Lol made me laugh

The balance of the game comes through when survival puts me against all fighters and their special qualities.

Amazing.

I am much rather a casual player but learning KI before SFV gives me discipline and I love to see how my habits work for or against me in SFV.

I am pleased and can’t wait to learn more about Kim Wu as I have enjoyed learning how Ryu is a hotter version of Jago (not sure who came first ) but the stages and music are nice and mostly I love how survival brings a slight RPG
element to the game
You can choose supplements in a list of 10 boosters for points you earn from your fights.

When I’m down on health I might choose a 6000 point cost for a full health bar or if I want to risk filling my critical art bar for 4000 a bout with Zangief for a flashy finish !

Let’s GO KI your move!

SFV is so good!
The game is NOT finished though. So many small things that is missing and there’s some bugs and glitches that will hopefully be polished in a future patch, such as hair going through the character bodies and twitching all over if caught in an odd angle - seriously, don’t have loose hair in your game if you can’t animate it well.

But that said, the game itself is really good! I love Cammy in this game, she moves beautifully and is so fun to play, and I am slowly learning Rashid as well. He’s easily my fave of the new 4 characters as he is kinda like Cammy in the way he moves and plays, plus he’s kinda cute. ;3
I am also learning Vega, as he is no longer a charge character and it feels ALOT better and more natural for him to be a motion character. And Nash is also really awesome with alot of cool moves, though I’m not a fan of the whole half-zombification look. I look forward to having the alternate outfits available so I can play as him without that.

Decapre’s look in the game is awesome and it kinda makes me want her to return, but with an all-unique movelist this time.

And the netcode feels so good as well, I haven’t experienced any sort of delay or lag yet, so that’s awesome!

The game still needs some touch-ups, some more characters and some more modes. The lack of an Arcade Mode is aweful, and I kinda hate that you have to unlock new colours through the Survival Mode - hopefully you can buy them with Fight Money once the store is released.

Oh right, about that…

So, the DLC characters aren’t totally free once released, which Capcom told us. You have to buy them for the in-game currency called Fight Money, which can be obtained through various in-game means like playing the Story Mode prologues and playing Online. OR you can spend REAL money to gain what they call Zenny which is an in-game currency only obtainable through paying real money, and then use the Zenny to buy the DLC characters.

Not sure how I feel about that…

I’m confused how many survival matches I have to win to get a color ?

10 on easy for color 3
20 on medium for 456
50 on hard for 789
100 for special title andxp on Helll

I played medium last night, and it was 30 fights, not 20.

Also, you have to do it for every individual costume.

Eh… That doesn’t seem too grindy compared to KI. It’s not as flexible though, so I can see people complaining.

ROFL! Zenny is capcom’s fictional currency from Monster Hunter.

Rashid is super cute!
I can’t wait for his story costume

I love bearded Ryu as well

Yeah, what Seraphs said. I think that’s why people are a bit upset, because of the colors being locked behind Survival. So you have to play survival in order to get the colors, instead of SF4’s style, where it was just play the character.

The survival matches are just one round, it’s not time consuming at all… the only issue is server disconnects and loosing all your progress.

It’s not even 1/10 the grind required to unlock everything in KI.
