Well we do know that it will get better in time. But a success of a game and how it impacts people is a big deal! I wish Capcom took their time, and not tried to rush it out. This isn’t a good start. Hopefully you can play matches and such without fail. ![]()
I was on messing around for almost two hours yesterday without a single online match materializing. Yes, I’m sure I had it turned in. Considering how many people must have been online, also not getting matched up, this is pretty bad. We will see if they fix it in a week…
I agree with @Infilament about the UI, although as someone who doesn’t participate in tournaments maybe I feel less strongly. The most baffling thing to me is the utterly hidden rank match character select. You have to go to your “battle profile” and pick your “favorite character?” It doesn’t even tell you that you are choosing the character that will automatically be chosen for you in a rank match. It’s bizarre. In the first PC beta I had to play Ryu for my first two matches before I figured out what the hell was going on. I said to myself “surely they will fix this.” Nope.
Anyway, I take back half the nice things I said about the story mode. I played a few more and found the anime dialogue that I dread:
“Huh?”
“Aaaaiiii!”
“Eh?”
“Oh.”
@FallofSeraphs76 for what it’s worth, PS + is totally worth it. This months free PS3 game is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax which retails at 49.99. It pays for itself in a month and you get to play online.
EDIT: MS has a big opening here if they can roll out a functional S3 launch - especially on PC
Did you consider a brook converter? I ordered mine yesterday. Can’t wait to try it.
I was the same when I was challenged on line. I want to pick my character not have a pretty requisite character.
Took me a few goes before I realised what was up
yeah whats the deal with not being able to pick your character in a ranked match? I thought that was for Beta purposes only so the match quickly connected and started?
OMG what a disaster! lol
I’m just gonna say it
I feel Like capcom went a little Too Esports on the game’s launch which is not a bad thing, especially for tournament players. But at The same time most casual players don’t want to spend 80 hours in training mode.
Also I have not tried ranked yet because I don’t know to full extent of the game’s mechanics and I assuming I’m not alone. There are Probably plenty of people who just wanna play against CPUs.
And I as I said before I prefer arcade modes. But this story mode is WAY to short. Ah well.
The game at launch for me 5.4/10.
It’s worth it if your looking to learn Street fighter V at a tournament level.
Jeez! That bad!? I didn’t think that! So, what’s Capcom’s next plan? To reverse and fix everything?
Nah. Super Street Fighter V.
You think they will go down that road? Ono already said no. And the Launch of SFV is pretty much been rocky, so idk.
Whats sucks about CPU mode is on story and Survival each fight is only 1 round. Story mode is 4 fights, maybe 5 i cant remember and survival is 10, 20, 30, and 50 fights. (easy, medium, hard, Helll)
All are just 1 round…so the only way to get any “real” practice in is to fight online.
You cant pick your character when fighting online. You pick your favorite character and wait for the invite and it goes straight to the match.
Its very …different
It won’t be called “super, mega, whatever,” they will just have updates and DLC and just keep padding out the experience. They have already said that an expanded lobby system is coming, and they will be adding in a real story-mode in the coming months, not to mention the multitude of other UI improvements that will inevitably come.
SFV is clearly a work in progress, the issue is that it wasn’t clear that it was going to be like this prior to release (as far as I can tell). SFV in its current state is a hardcore player’s game, not a casual game. I foresee many unsuspecting casual players either returning the game, or just putting it down after some time, but picking it up again as time goes on. I mean the monthly character updates will bring hype to the community just as that concept did in the KI community, but yeah, only the hardcore will be the ones playing religiously; the casual market will move on / loop back around.
Wow. I’m kinda glad I didn’t give up and buy a PS4 for Street Fighter. I’d been soooo ■■■■■■ if I bought a PS4, and were so excited, only to have those problems.
REALLY? No Character Select on a match, and you have to go elsewhere on the menu to select your character?
And the colors! That is the worst thing you could do, is back them behind survival! Why? What was the reasoning behind that?[quote=“UncappedWheel82, post:935, topic:530”]

Yes, but most of the sales are casual players. Plus, Capcom should have told us this at least! Most of us were expecting a full game, with everything improved! But we get a game with Weird UI, No Character Select screen to change your character on the fly, and the dreaded Survival for Colors… I understand you want to get it out as quickly as possible, but taking your time is worth it. KI in a way had a rocky start as well, and it’s shaping up to be a great game, but I think because we were kind of under the radar at that point. But, This is Street Fighter. One of the most influential fighting games on the planet… I would have waited. I wouldn’t mind if I couldn’t play untill the summer or something! But I’ll wait till they get this sorted out. ![]()
You can select your character in local VS, Survival, Training, and Story…just not in online Ranked or Casual.
KI should really, really be proud of themselves! KI is dominating on all aspects of the BIG 3. MK is right there with them. I hope KI is paying attention to this SF debacle and ensure S3 does not have any issues like this. Even if it means a delay… they need to take this chance to soak up all the players that are bitter from this SF mess.
Unfortunately all the SF fans I met Monday night at the release…HATED Killer instinct with a passion. I suspect it was out of fear and bitterness because they sucked at the game or couldn’t afford to have both systems. One guy really ■■■■■■ me off when talking ■■■■■ about KI, he said he played the NES versions but felt the new one was too difficult and the button layout was wrong.m
He obviously didnt know what the helll he was talking about because the old KI is much more difficult than new KI and the button layout is what you want ti to be… I kicked his asss in the tournament! ■■■■ chump lol
@TheNinjaOstrich I played some FANG last night… lol.. you will like him… he is very weird but fun.
In a way, yes. It won’t be called Super Street Fighter V or anything like that, however there will be changes coming to the UI and options and everything. I don’t think they can ignore how disliked this launch has been from a casual’s point of view. But like mentioned, its a work-in-progress much like KI was and will improve over time. In case I sound too positive, I should balance by saying that SF is a big fighting game franchise and to have the eyes of everyone on it at launch and then an incomplete game release is really shoddy work.
But it should be on Ranked! Most of us like to switch with Characters all the time! SF4 had it. Why not this one? [quote=“FallofSeraphs76, post:937, topic:530”]

I hope so. This is getting crazy. I know S3 will be good, but I hope it’s tested for bugs and such a lot, I’d hate to see KI go down this way.[quote=“FallofSeraphs76, post:937, topic:530”]

■■■■! Lol most of the time, it’s people that have never played KI, that say things like that. If I was in that tourney, I would have Near perfected that guy and ended the match with a CA, stood up & shake the dude’s hand and be like, “Those KI reactions saved me!” LOL
Maybe. I really don’t like charge Characters, But I’ll give him a shot. Rashid is the guy I’m going to main. And of course have a Pocket Ryu.[quote=“DoobyDude23, post:938, topic:530”]

But that’s the thing, with a big company like Capcom with arguably The World’s best selling and world renowned fighting game, you’d at least have a more polished game, more towards casuals. We as hardcore players are a small percentage. ![]()
You know it’s interesting. If they get the servers working, I will probably be more charitable than most people posting here for SFV. It is what I expected based on the beta (although the interface is still a baffling oversight). But it is an interesting outcome to see how much the big marketing for the game has actually hurt them. People have seen a trailer at PS conferences and gone all in without knowing what they are getting.
I think this model, clearly following KI, is going to be the future one way or another. But it will be interesting to see if this backlash lasts or if people forgive them as the kinks get ironed out. SF games have a long life and I don’t remember any FG in recent memory that didn’t take a lot of hits when it released.
Yeah, that’s my point. The only reason FGs are successful is because of the casual market. That is why MK is so popular sales wise. SF was/is trying to do that somewhat with the announcement of a story mode, but it kind of disheartening seeing that they didn’t do anything else on that front, and that they weren’t very transparent with what they were doling out on launch.
All that being said though, though I can see people not being happy in theory, I’m also not seeing that much push back from casual players around the net. I see many people still excited online, and I see overall good reviews from the major outlets.
IDK. People could be giving SFV somewhat of a pass and not badmouthing it, because it is a Sony exclusive, and at the end of the day SFV is a big pawn in the underlying “Console War”. Lol! SFV is in a funny spot all around.
Lol I wonder what everyone is thinking. Especially the people that left us for SFV. I guess I’m just upset. The fighting game that started a spark for my love of fighting games isn’t doing well… ![]()
SFV will do fine on the tournament scene. Third Strike was never a commercial success or popular with casual players. Commercial and competitive success, as far as I can tell, are barely linked at all.
However, the word of mouth from casual fans is potentially going to be huge for sales. It’s also a bit of a black eye since Sony dos turn this into a big deal. I’m sure the fanboys are already at it in force, but it will be interesting to see if the damage is real and long term or just another “oops, launch problems” moment that passes into memory in a month.
@TheNinjaOstrich FANGS attacks all hit in two’s do when you are attacking and linking those hits you are charging back for the “ender move” …it actually works quite nicely. His DP kick move is like this doge/dash behind the opponent that attacks from the back side…I like it the most. And his poison attacks are a lot like Cinders burn outs
@BigBadAndy I was reading the posts in the PS SF community thread in the SF home screen and a lot of ppl were not happy. No one is happy in this thread and no one is happy in the MKX SF thread. So far all I have read is negative comments… everywhere… even in youtube video posts
Its world wide unhappy SF fans…possibly the biggest back lash I have seen recently except for maybe the Batman arkam ordeal…and its only going to get worse as this weekend approaches and ends.
