At the moment, I don’t really understand the need for the blackout unless the return of news tomorrow also means we’ll be seeing “Season 3 news is here; and so is the new Season! Download it now!” I don’t expect that’s the case (I think it will release at the end of the month), but it makes me question what purpose a five-day blackout will serve in the end.
So unless Tuesday becomes extremely relevant for some reason, I would have rather learned information say during a Text Stream return last Friday, given a single day (Thursday) for the Blackout. I’m just really excited and ready to hear more info!
I believe someone (Rukari possibly?) said that there was an embargo on info from the Spring Showcase so journalists would have a good amount of time to put together stories on what they saw.
Now, I don’t understand why journalists need a long weekend like that to report on what they saw, as E3 and other shows are written about as they happen, but that’s the explanation that I’ve seen.
Some seem to think that it’s a KI marketing issue, but I sincerely doubt that’s the case. I think that this is Microsoft’s decision about all of it’s games. Does that make it any better? Well, probably not. But I think some around here have this attitude that MS is specifically screwing up KI’s marketing and I don’t think that’s the case.
My feeling regarding this is that if there are specific parts of the press show that they didn’t want discussed right away (say Kinect version 8.0, Halo 93, or a new IP) I would think it’s possible to set the blackout on specific things, rather than blanketing everything in the void.
It’s a somewhat biased viewpoint, I’ll admit. But we went a fairly long time without getting much direct information, and since the KIWC I’ve been getting really impatient for news and the new Season to actually get here! Knowing that information (and likely a lot of it) was revealed on Thursday but the most rabid fanbase still needs to wait another day just makes things harder. Especially because such basic information like release day and cost aren’t known.
I’m hoping we find out tomorrow that such large scale, amazing stuff was shown about KI that they NEEDED the extra time to write an adequate article.
I’m really just kidding, referring to the slow information we received from announcement (Aug '15) till now. If I must answer, it would be an obvious answer, that I wish we were aware of the release date earlier and more info about what Season 3 would include earlier than March 2016.
Yeah, I’ll agree that it’s odd that they couldn’t share KI news along with whatever else was shown at the showcase, but honestly, waiting another day isn’t that big of a deal. I’ll admit that I was let down when I first heard it, but I’ve personally taken the view of “we’ll find out when we find out.”
I think we’ve had some info this month, but I’m really kind of surprised that as of February 29th, we still have no idea when a season that’s supposed to get started in March is going to actually drop. I mean, maybe it was just a matter of them working as hard as they can to get as much ready as they can, so they’re trying to keep the date as fluid as possible for as long as possible. I mean, that’s certainly… Umm… Possible. Isn’t it?
My tin foil hat theory is that they wanted to group KI news in with the rest of what they were talking about at the showcase so that they had as many announcements as possible, but who can say for sure.
Either way, I’m sure we’ll find things out soon. This is shaping up to be a good month for KI. We don’t know much, but we know that, at least!
Ah gotcha, I didn’t pick up on the sarcasm. My bad. But yeah, I agree 100%. It’s really strange to me that it’s almost the month of release and we still don’t know what day in the month we’re actually getting season 3. I’m trying to remember the last time I saw a release date remain in limbo for that long.
Like I said above though, it could just be that they were holding that info to announce it during the spring showcase, or they just wanted to try and get as much done as possible, and leaving the date in a fluid state rather than locking it down allows them some flexibility.
Really hoping we get some info soon though. It feels like we’re so close to the finish line, I just want to get there and get season 3 in my grubby little mitts already!
This is how I feel, too. But it’s like waiting for your birthday or Christmas was as a kid; it’s TOMORROW, and why couldn’t today be over so we can get there? I’m just a really excited fan.
Nobody’s confused as to why they didn’t tell us last Thursday, we know about the blackout. The thing we don’t entirely understand was the need for the blackout regarding KI, because holding the info for four/five days doesn’t appear to add much detail or value to our eventual reveal.
Oh I really hope so! As much as I’ll be curious to see Arbiter in action, I’m not really that psyched for a Halo character since I’m not a huge Halo fan to begin with. Nothing against it, just not that in to it, I guess.
So if they have some more info dropping tomorrow, I’ll be VERY curious to see what that entails!
Psyched for tomorrow. I see it’s changed to 4pm tomorrow? GAH! I was so happy it was at 6pm and I could sit and watch it. Work will be interesting tomorrow. I anticipate a long bathroom break at the end of the work day lol.
