One of the only characters in existence that’s like him (to my knowledge)
But whatever. I just think it’s wrong to just not include characters that have been apart of the series for so long, like what SCV did with a few characters (still waiting for Yun Seong, who might actually not make it lol)
I dunno. That one space in the middle is most certainly reserved for Inferno and we know he’s unlockable. Those four other slots aren’t empty like the one in the middle is so they must not be the same. I’m honestly just making wild guesses, but I hope I’m wrong. I’d like more unlockable characters too if it means I don’t have to pay for them
And that’s where I differ from a lot of people, because I generally don’t care. If I like a character I want them in, if I’m indifferent to them I don’t generally care either way, and if I actively dislike them then I’d be happy to see them left out. How long they’ve been there is irrelevant, and I don’t much care how “long time fans” feel about it. If the final S3 KI character had been someone new and Eyedol wound up left out because they couldn’t think of anything cool to do with him, I’d have been perfectly down with that.
SCV’s problem to my mind wasn’t that they felt they needed to replace older characters. It was that they replaced them for basically no good gameplay reason. Natsu and Patroklos didn’t have anything in their kits that couldn’t have been given to their analogues, and it was abundantly clear that the devs just wanted to try shinier, newer versions of the exact same characters we’d always had. If you’re not going to do anything interesting or clever with the “new” character, then you may as well keep the old ones and avoid ■■■■■■■ off the fans that exist for them.
How the heck is there a tournament for this game with grand finals and big name players in it…but the game isnt even out yet? Are they just playing it for the first time and winging it? Or are they playing on demos or advanced copies?
No, no early copies as far as I know floating around (and it’s actually logistically difficult to play demo builds of games on personal consoles for a number of reasons). For earlier versions of these tournies it was people winging it after playing for a bit, but at this point if you travel a decent amount you’ve likely played on a few different demos at a few different events by now.
One or two other pro players (Kayane has I know, but others may have also done so) have also dropped by the studio to play and relay their findings, similar to what Max did for DBFZ before it came out.
But what do you mean with early copies? Are they of the full game or of the early builds we’ve seen? Because if it is the latter, then that’s what I meant and we’re in agreement.
It felt like you were saying that certain players had personal access to early builds of the game (as in Capcom giving FChamp a full copy of MvCI after it went gold but before release). If that’s not what you meant then yeah, I misunderstood you.
Mainly just wanted to answer Seraph’s question by letting him know that players were all just building their experience through various cons and a few invitationals to which they’d been invited. The game is close enough to previous SC games that lots of combos and fundamentals carry over, so it’s not surprising that high-level players seem really proficient really quickly.
So which character do you plan to try out, or which ones strike your fancy up front?
I’d imagine geralt & groh will have the most interest as they are new to the series, and most sc fans want to see how they operate.
