So is this the last season?!?

How is this a bad idea for a game thats been out for 3yrs name a game that lasts this long with constant updates and new elements and even new characters

3 years is nothing lol for a fighting game to get figured out, there is so much depth to be found in the remaining characters thanks to KI’s lack of popularity that this game could last easily 3-4 more years without a sequel with the current content it has alone. Also a sequel would completely kill the roster and not guarantee a good fighting game engine, we literally would have to start the money/development/time process over again. A true sequel at this point would just feel like a quick cash grab at this point tbh, a season 4 is a much better way to provide new content to casual/competitive players alike while still allowing the game to develop further even with all the brand new changes.

Now a Remaster with all the current content simply to update the graphics/assets on scorpio Im completely down for.

Okay seriously? Why do you fans have a grudge against Eyedol? He was part of the first Killer Instinct game and to not put him as the final character of season three and not announcing season four is a big disgrace to us fans. Period.

It’s like Motaro in Mortal Kombat 9 all over again.

Well said.

I agree
befoer a sequel you want a healthy base of paying customers.

MK has HUGE fan bases due to their story and production budget. SF has the asian market and tons of general fighting game players.

Tekken is also huge (although i’m not a fan).

KI , i think, needs to have more content to attract more people. Then in the future you can make a sequel as a higher budget title with “normal” sized dlc packs and see how that does.

After like 20 years, the yearly content releases keep teh game in the gamers eye moreso than just doing a random sequel would.

That “more content” couldn’t be in the sequel?
You can want more seasons vs a new game but don’t argue from a popularity standpoint. A sequel(that isn’t barebones at launch) is the best way for KI to get more popular.

i dont know if a sequel would be

sequel assumes the previous title has a fan base to support it.

is the current fan base big enuff to warrant a sequel (paying fan base i mean).

they may gaurantee more cash from more seasons for now..then 1 or 2 years after scorpio is live (and PS has their PS next gen)..THen do a KI 2 in 4K or something like that

But leaving the game as it is now wouldn’t be hurting the game because we have yet to play Shadow Lords at this point that could hold us over until the next game. I think if they were to add something else imo I think it should be dojo mode for more characters but thats what practice is for. Since its a MS fighter why wouldn’t they have KI the next chapter for release of the new system. If they did a S4 what would you want from it??? If Eyedol isn’t in S4 it would be an uproar like it is now thats why I said save that for the next game because they could introduce a whole lot more in a new game instead of trying to put it all in S4 and then what

I doubt the game would launch with 26 characters and 21 stages. Also I definitely doubt a new game will be as popular if not more popular than this one with this game still being relatively new while having a small yet growing player base.

who said that I say do it the exact same as they do now in a season format S1 launch with 6 just more modes except for the story that comes at the end of the season or have it implemented in like a SL mode to where it leaves you with cliffhangers at the end until the S1 roster is complete and it continues into S2 and so forth

A single player mode is definitely not going to hold over a majority of fighting game players (who stick around longer than a week) who play fighting games to fight other people. S4 could add Eyedol or Eagle, many brand new original character concepts from IG as their survey hints at which imo have been better than all the old KI characters/guests, they could add more stages including the stages we missed out on in S3, possibly more ultimates/assesories/costumes/etc. and honestly that would be good enough for me.

I never said it would have exact same characters and stages. I infer from your posts that you would be personally slighted by the sequel starting with less characters(even though this game started with 6), but if there are enough characters at launch, I don’t think that’d be a problem.

Why would they go through that when MS announced a new more powerful system when they could do more than trying to squeeze in a new season. If they add a new season and put Eyedol in the game when he isn’t in the story yet it wouldn’t make sense because the final boss is Gargos in the game I think it should just end at this season and start anew on the more powerful Scorpio alluding to Eyedol making a comeback as the final boss in KI The Next Chapter <-----

I just dont feel like sacrificing the greatness we have here for something less, maybe when this games secrets have been mostly been uncovered and the entire scene is ready for a sequel sure but for now make S4 then ride that content/meta development for several years.

I dont really care about KI’s story at all. But within the story you could easily say Eyedol was also hiding in the astral plane or some crap locked away by gargos himself and by defeating gargos his prison was unlocked or something dumb like that. A new game would really just be for new graphics, a better idea would be to remaster this game from the ground up on scorpio with new graphics/assets.

If you watched the MS event at E3 they already stated that all games would be upscaled to 4k and all XB1 games would work on the new system so the graphics statement you made wouldn’t be correct. They would make a new game because it would build on the story or saga of the KI universe but then if they did a S4 and it wasn’t up to par as you say S3 is then you would be like they could’ve saved Eyedol for the next KI. Y’all kill me with never being satisfied

I can totally see this happening XD

That survey definitely was thinking in a season 4. If it was thinking in KI4 the survey would have been diferent.

I keep seeing people say this, but what are you basing it on? Why would a non-barebones sequel necessarily make KI more popular? Who’s to say anyone other than the current audience buys this newer, bigger title? SFV was a big-budget sequel with tons of production and marketing, and it sold moderately well at best relative to Capcom’s hopes for it.

I think people are seriously underestimating what the cost of a new engine and ground-up work for a title costs, and how much that influences how a game has to sell in order to be profitable. The reason companies love the seasonal model is that you suck up the upfront costs of development, but then you get to squeeze revenue out of the base game through content updates/accessories/whatever. You don’t have to rework or rebuild things from the ground up each time, and that saves a lot of money from the development side of things.

If you want to rebuild everything from the ground up for this sequel, you’re throwing away a lot of potential revenue from a title that is both young and fairly barebones in terms of purchasable dlc. There’s a lot of money to still be made from additional costumes and accessories and all that jazz, to say nothing of characters (where they already seem to have ideas). Foregoing that opportunuty to build a brand-new game on a brand new engine for a title that will undoubtedly have less character content just doesn’t make any sense to me, at least at this stage in KI’s life. It’s a huge investment for what? The hope that a slightly larger piece of the FG crowd will now come over to play KI because it’s 23% prettier now?

I think that would be a good amount too. Some people were worrying about too many seasons bringing in too many characters and therefore harder for newer players to get in and leatn, so S4 only having 4 characters would be a good amount, IMO
