Scalebound officially cancelled

Makes me wonder if Platinum could take the idea of monster hunting in Scalebound and use its assets to make a full on console game of Monster Hunter.

Well so much for that. Hopefully they announce some games for the Scorpio launch, if that thing launches without any decent games it’ll be tough to consider buying one at launch.

Hm, Scalebound had one impressive trailer…and one really terrible one involving a giant crab or something where ā– ā– ā– ā–  all happened. It’s disappointing to see it canceled, but also maybe the latter trailer was more indicative of what the content was like, i.e. a whole ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  of doing nothing while the main characters pretend something exciting is happening?

Still, I won’t pretend to understand why it made sense for Microsoft to cut their losses on funding three years of high-end asset production and whatnot. Must have been a hard decision.

I hope the devs find something more promising to move on to.

Pretty sure Phantom Dust came undone before Fable Legends did.

Also, I said this during the Lionhead closure, but I was optimistic for Fable Legends, at least in principle. The people who thought they wanted Fable 4 were being naive: you don’t want just another RPG where you grind content and loot things for 100 hours and then wonder what you’re doing with your life, some part inside of you knows this. Legends offered up hope for a Fable 4 later down the road built upon mechanics honed in the fires of competitive play, mechanics that are actually balanced and interesting to engage with.

Or at least, that’s what I want from a new Fable, or hell, any new 100+ hour RPG.

This was sad to hear. Plus rumors are circulating that ms did shady things to hurt development I doubt there true but it ain’t good.

Is there any more info on those rumors? I wouldn’t doubt the dev team not having it good but I’m just curious.

I was never in love with this game. It looked cool and I’m sure it would be fun, but the whole ā€œbig dinosaur monster being taken down by people from a distopian future using new-tech versions of old weaponryā€ā€¦ it’s been done before.

However, I know that ALOT of people were looking forward to this, some of my friends as well. It’s a shame that they had to cancel it. I might not have bought it, but it was indeed cool looking.

Hold on, isn’t Nintendo the publisher for Platinum Games?

On Bayonetta 2. Not on ALL their games.

Gotcha

And I bet the other companies, Sony and Microsoft, are biting their tails, because Bayonetta 2 is SO GOOD!!!

You mean as to the cancellation of Scalebound? Because that’s no longer a rumor, that’s fact. MS has confirmed it and everything.

As to the behind the scenes rumors about MS setting milestones too high on purpose or devs needing a month off due to exhaustion or the dev lead taking a month off for being sick when MS wanted the game done, who knows what, if any of this is true.

Honestly, it’d be nice for someone to put their name to the rumors, though doing that likely means career suicide, so the reality is that we may never know for certain. Could still be a developing story though. Guess we’ll find out in the days and weeks ahead.

After anticipating this game from the very first announcement trailer, my genuine reaction was to laugh my head off out of confusion. The statement provided gives no clear reasoning for why this action was taken, the game looked cool so we’re left with this mystery to solve.
Well. Hopefully there’s something else exclusive coming this year.

Never cared for the Bayonetta games either - they’re so ridiculously over the top weird as to be patently ridiculous - an angelic/demon hunter that is super sexy with stiletto-gun heels and that wears her own mystical hair as clothing while also using it for attacks? Yeah, too weird for my tastes.

But you like Killer Instinct? Ah well…

There’s nobody that attacks with their own hair while also wearing it as clothing in KI. Dinosaurs, skeletons, etc. I can handle - they’re cool! But living hair clothing? That’s just gross.

Yet so many men live with it around the globe. At least Bayonetta makes cool use of it.
