Agreed, if they made Rash look more like the other characters i think that would please most people. Leave his current look as a retro..make his main skin look more like Riptor or Saberwulfā¦as in more like he is from the same style as the other designs
No stick was ever up my rear in regards to this topic Wanda. Iād have thought the flippant tone and giant smirk emote wouldāve given the game away on that.
And donāt misunderstand me. Just because I donāt or wonāt play a character doesnāt mean Iām not critical or observing of them. Iām fully capable of evaluating a character or mechanic without having to try and main them. I can appreciate and respect Fulgoreās design and playstyle, even though his style doesnāt speak to me. I can evaluate Glaciusā look and mechanics and strengths and weaknesses, even though his zoning would bore me to tears were I to play him. If I thought Rash was a cr.appy character I would say so, regardless of whether or not I intended to play him (and for the record, I did play around with him for a while upon his release). I simply donāt think heās a cr.appy character.
Is his style somewhat discordant with the rest of the gameās? Iād personally say so. But thatās also unsurprising, as a guest character should be expected to bring a certain amount of his own style and personality to the game. The devs have always said theyād like to throw in guest characters around the S3 timeframe if they made it that far, so itās not even like his inclusion is super out of left field. Truth be told Iāve always been of the mindset that I didnāt want KI to have any guest characters - that said, I can appreciate one when I think heās done well. Heās an interesting if goofy character that I wonāt personally play, but I know more than a couple people who are super stoked about him and his playstyle and plan on maining him. Every character in a game doesnāt have to speak to you personally - itās all to the good that there is enough diversity to the cast to bring in new blood who prefer all kinds of different characters.
Rash might not scratch your particular itch, in which case I would simply submit that heās probably not supposed to. Heās not meant to be for you - heās meant for those who prefer a bit of zaniness and lighthearted fun in their fighting game lives.
Naw man, it was just the few things. Rest of the post was fine, this tidbits just raised concerns. I will say one thing, though: Condescension in posts (things like ātake the stick out of your ā ā ā ā) generally make you sound less like a free spirit promoting discussion and more like an ā ā ā hole trying to get a rise out of people.
Anyway. There are things I agree with here and things I donāt agree with, in your posts or otherwise. Generally youāre a pretty cool dude, and generally everyone else in the forums tends to be a very cool dude(s?). Just so happens to be a highly opinionated group of cool dudes that doesnāt always get along.

Well thab5k you for outlining your observations they are of course noted and are not so different to mine. I donāt think rash is crappy i just think that hes a lazy choice. Agree as above a million times that hes done well very well in fact but i thibk we can do better? Would you not agree?
And your right as ive said its selfish of me to need to LOVE everything rather than just like it. I have high standards and my own perception of KI and feel rash is a little jaring.

Iām trying not to keep posting the same stuff, because people go on and on making the same point over and over and it doesnāt go anywhere. But then you go and add something like this:
You can think Rash is a bad choice, fine. But lazy? How is it lazy? Especially when you are one of the people (and kudos to you) who acknowledge that he has been well made.
Interesting way of looking at it. It appears to have worked pretty wellā¦for better or worse.
For the record though, I never meant to pick on your specific argument about Rash -most of my points in that wall of text earlier were meant as general comments towards most of the thread as a whole, and I just so happened to direct them at you- just the idea that certain ātonesā would work in certain ways 100% of the time (that and the idea that The Ring is scary. I feel zer0 fear from that horror sub genre XD).
Itās been an interesting discussion, one thatās more complex than I think any of us initially thought. While I canāt agree with your methods, since even in a heated argument I tend to want to take the path of least resistance (it just seems more tasteful that way) I can respect that it got conversation started.

Lazy as in a PR choice for rare Replay, Phill Spencers favorite Rare game, part of a bigger release hype machine.
Its lazy in the fact that they could have picked someone more suited to KI but that maybe not cause as much PR.
Thats one of my problems. lets not hype for hype sake lets get what we think is the best for KI not for the xbox launch window and PR machine.
As a character hes fun id LOVE a battle toads game with these very animations but i feel KI was used a little here.
Ki has found its own feet and its standing strong on its own! We dont need advertising of the back of other games.
Well more respect to you because some of that film made me s#/t my pants lol and although it didnt scare you its general perception was to be believable and scary even thought it was silly fiction.
My perception of ki is to be scifi but tounge in cheek.

Not to belabor points already made, but you have precisely the wrong idea about what a guest character is for, in my opinion. If they want to make more interesting KI characters they can do that. The whole POINT of a guest character is to tie in to that PR machine. Thatās not lazy, thatās smart.
While I am very happy with KI, and how itās doing (and that they keep making more of it for me to play), I think we need to be realistic. Rare Replay and the MS PR machine were on fire at E3 and Gamescom. They didnāt need any help from KI to get what they wanted. So the guest character is here solely to generate buzz for KI. And I think Rash has done that in spades. Battletoads is one of those games that was, frankly, not all that popular when it came out at the tail end of the 8 bit generation. But as a Rare game that never saw a true sequel it has become mythological (sort of like KI prior to 2013) and you have all kinds of fans clamoring for it. The amount of attention Rash has brought to KI far exceeds what they could have achieved if they had announced Kim-Wu, even if that would have been a more popular choice on the forums.
I think Viva PiƱata was an amazing and crazy fun game as well as being something I normally wouldnāt play but got hooked. Rare didnāt get enough credit with this game and I feel it is under-rated in part due to it releasing around the same time as Gears of War back in 2006. That being said I still donāt think Horstacio or some other piƱata belongs in KI just because it is tied to Rare.

Rare and MS have a vast number of ips lots and lots of them hugely more fitting than Rash and battle toads. Weve seen here a less than enthusiastic YAY for rash so although it might have grab a few headlines its also disengaged a few people in the community
Thoes who arnt disengaged are just OK with it.
It was a silly lazy choice that didnt āfor meā sit in as good as other guest charicters could have! Ok rash is āfineā but so many other rare or MS ips could have been AMAZING.
Thats my point. Yes i understand guest characters but i also understand that many more would have been better for KI and would still have created the same buz.

I read exactly what you wrote and understood it perfectly. Itās just wrong, thatās all. It doesnāt meet any definition of the word ālazyā in the English language. Sorry. Look up the meaning of the word. Itās not a ālazyā choice at all. Thatās not a subjective opinion. Thereās nothing ālazyā about it. You can argue it was a bad choice or that āwe can do better.ā Fine. I disagree, but those are opinions. But the idea that making Rash is somehow ālazierā than other choices is ridiculous.
This is the kind of stuff that makes me crazy. Just because lazy is bad and Rash is bad doesnāt mean Rash is ālazy.ā You canāt just pick any word at Random that has a negative connotation and throw it at something just because you have negative feelings. Rest assured that of all the many possible reasons MS and IG chose to put Rash in the game LACK OF EFFORT to find someone that would rise to the Wanda Maximoff standard of appropriateness for the game wasnāt it. Frankly, itās insulting to all the people who likely spent hours pitching the idea and implementing the character.
Are you suggesting it was just too much work for them to put Joanna Dark in the game? Thatās insane. They could borrow the rigs for Orchid or Sadira and use them for Joanna instead of making a new one with Rashās proportions. Throw a new skin on it, add a couple of moves and there you go. Less work than making Rash. Unless you want to proffer even the tiniest thread of logic that putting Rash in the game took less work than other, better characters, you donāt have a leg to stand on. You can say Rash is bad, Rash is inappropriate, Rash is lame, Rash is a wasted character slot. All fine. You just canāt say itās lazy.
Or we could just throw words around without considering their meaning. I think the decision to include Sadira was pedantic. And the decision to have Omen was lugubrious. Sure it makes no sense, but if anyone objects I will just tell them itās my opinion and they arenāt reading what I wrote.

I dont agree with you rash was a lazy choice. Good for PR not for this game. An āobviousā and there for lazy choice when linking two games together to create hype rather than somthing great for the ki universe .
Battle toads has been pushed as the main driver on rare replay. T shirts, life size models, promotion etc. Rash is in ki for that very reason not because somone had this really crative idea and passion!
Joanna, raam, scorge, kameo to name a few would have been better FOT KI rather than better for the PR machine. Maybe they wouldnāt have been such a BIG deal in terms of PR but it would have been a less obvious and there for less lazy choice.
Im not talking about the work on rash. Hes AMAZINGLY animated. Hes vrilliantly individual but the lazyness is linked to the choice. They picked a poster boy not someone who could have linked better to KI
