TBH I thought the random character tournament was suppose to be a tournament that put players in an uncomfortable position. If you have players have a month of preparation. It might as well not be random because you have an amp amount of time to prepare. I say the week of is the best time because it’s not too early that ppl will know what to do. It’s the fun in ADAPTING to different characters that makes this tournament a success. NO ONE should be GRANTED anything besides a spot in the tournament and (just enough) time to prep with their character. A week is good enough to know the characters buttons and formulate somewhat of a plan.
Plus it builds hype for the coming Saturday because everyone is excited about who they got and who they will be facing. Even though ppl want to win you have to abide by the purpose of the tournament. That purpose is not met if ppl have an amp amount of time to practice the characters that got chosen for them. It’s not random anymore, it’s the “learning a new character” tournament.
I didn’t say everyone will find out their characters today, I said when WE decide. And you suggest a week before. I think is a good idea too. But this line right here just let me down.
Plus, even if there is someone practicing and learning every single character and their matchups with the rest of the cast, and then they find out the character they got, they’ll realise that 90% of the time they did studying every character was a chunk of waste for this tournament.
I think many of us can agree that we want the anticipation to build over time. Something tells me that this will be the bests Random tourney yet so long as we let the hype (hype hype hype hype hype) accumulate
So you guys are telling me not to do the assignment now and just leave it for a bit longer. Eh I guess that could work. I’m just bored and I want to do something at least.
We should just talk on Discord and play WYR: Discord
Some ideas:
-Which character would you HATE to get? (Due polls limitations, divide it into 2 polls. I would suggest secret votes)
-Post your top 8 moments from past editions in a poll (bh swordsman Gargos vs kev wulf MUST be there)
I think if you wait too long to tell people who they have to play, you’re going to end up with a much, much worse tournament overall. The stream is going to be less interesting to watch if half the players are stumbling with a character they’ve never put time into before. Honestly, the idea that I’d have to wait a long time to know who I’ll get makes me much less interested in even playing.
A week might be able to work for me, because I have a lot of free time, but others may not have that luxury. At the end of the day though it isn’t my tournament, so it’s not my call.
Ninja’d lol.
Here is my list.
Swordsman v @KevBones10 of course
Everyone realizing @SonicDolphin117 and @BHswordsman09 got their mains.
