Putting KI on PS4 (Hear Me Out) #Fight4KI

How does Japan dominate the market? Majority of Japanese games aren’t popular outside of Japan.

1000000 PERCENT THISSS!!

Alot of the games you play arent even american.

Honestly, I think keeping fighting games exclusive to one platform isn’t that smart. I’m pretty sure SFV would’ve sold better if Capcom ported it to Xbox. If fighting games are already a niche genre, why limit it to one platform? I’m not saying porting it to PS4 would drastically improve sells, but Microsoft wouldn’t lose anything. Imagine if MKX were exclusive to PS4, the sales wouldn’t of been as great, and the game would’ve recieved LESS support and content. I think if SF5 and KI would’ve hit both platforms when they launched, the community on BOTH games would’ve grown. Killer Instinct isn’t doing that bad tho, dispite the fact that it hasn’t had sequels as common as Street Fighter.

I was going to write a long post on the influence (or lack of influence) of Japan, Japanese culture and Japanese business culture in gaming, but it’s just too off-topic. If you start that thread I will post there. (Hint: how many of 2016’s bestselling games come from Japan?)

If PlayStation was an American brand that wouldn’t impact this conversation at all. MS brought back KI to serve the needs of Xbox. Even the PC port arguably exists to serve the Xbox brand. They aren’t porting it to PlayStation. Ever. No matter what. It’s a non-starter. This whole thread is a fantasy and not even a very good one. I think LCD wanted to prove he could still bait a few hundred responses to anything he posts.

All indicators are that Sony at least partially bankrolled the production of SFV. It is not generally in their interest to heavily fund a project and then have it sell on their direct competitor’s platform.

Your right, it was funded by Sony. But they still put it on Windows, which is now associated with Xbox. I personally don’t see an Xbox port improbable, who knows, Microsoft might add Steam support on the Scoprio… :stuck_out_tongue:

They put it on Steam, which runs on a variety of OS’s (including Windows obviously), and is much more of a distribution platform (akin to a publisher) as opposed to a source of direct entertainment competition to Sony.

Again, while I’m sure Capcom would have few qualms putting their game on another system, Sony is likely quite content with SFV remaining only on the PS4 and PC.

Good point. I think the probability of this happening is very slim. Unless Sony and Microsoft make an exclusive deal with the two games, this isn’t very likely. That’s why its best to have both platforms, or PC. Now for the tournament side, I feel like Microsoft has something up their sleeves for the Scorpio. Maybe that MK vs KI game is real!

I agree and i like to know why all these fighting devs are running to ps4 i thought the game was to make money if you develope the game for one platform your defeating that purpose. I won’t support evo or any other tournament that demand that you play the game on ps4 bad network and awful controller, don’t get me wrong i have a ps4 i hate that ugly controller.

the only way I see PS4 getting KI is if there’s a huge amount of $$$$$$$$$ connected to the new updated KI to be launched cross-platform. I’d kinda love to see it stay exclusive, so it gets due treatment from a cohesive team working with unreal/ havok/ etc
