Putting KI on PS4 (Hear Me Out) #Fight4KI

First and foremost I must say how disappointed I am with KI potentially not being at EVO this year. KI has been on an uprising as of late with lots of people picking up and trying out the game and getting big publicity because of KI cup; however for me anyway, this came as no surprise that it didn’t make the cut which is fair considering it was the lowest entered game 3 consecutive years in a row. I’m sure most know by now we still have a chance though if we are able to raise enough money in two weeks and beat out the other games.

Aside from just having low entry numbers at tournaments why else wouldn’t EVO or other events throughout the year not want to host KI? Well I’m sure there are a lot of reasons that I won’t get into for the most part but I wanted to bring up a different reason that some may have not thought of before which is the fact that Killer Instinct is the only game that is played on Xbox One in the FGC.

Think about the nightmare that is for tournament organizers who have to provide setups for multiple games and hundreds/thousands of people to play on at any given time. Look at the games difference between the two:

PS4

  • Street Fighter V
  • Blaze Blue
  • Guilty Gear
  • MKX
  • Injustice 2
  • King of Fighters
  • Skull Girls
  • MVC3 (now)
  • Tekken7

Xbox One

  • KI

Tournament Organizers don’t want to have to invest into more than they have to in order to run an event. This is exactly the reason why there are never any casual stations for KI players to warm up on at tournaments. My most recent memory of this was at SCR where literally everyone was begging to prepare beforehand but no one could because there were only 4 stations with 2 consoles on each one which were being used by pools. I recently just bought a laptop for this very reason so I can play KI on the go and always be ready and not have to rely on the hope TO’s will be nice to our game which usually isn’t the case. We’re always in a corner somewhere in another room with the worst stream setups.

Yes, I am completely aware of the fact the Microsoft owns the rights to KI and it’s IP and the odds of them putting their first party game on a competing platform is slim to none; yet…Microsoft and IG have also recently commented that they are fully committed to growing the game and its community. What better way to accomplish said goal then by to open your game up to everyone who wants to play instead of being money hungry in a genre that is already scarce as it is. Street Fighter has the luxury to afford to be on an exclusive platform, KI does not (unfortunately).

Outside of Combo Breaker and World Cup, what other tournaments will take us in? There most likely would be varying opinions on this but EVO is still the biggest FGC event in the year so if our game doesn’t make it whos to say other tournaments don’t drop it as well because of EVO’s influence?

Obviously from the date I’m writing this we still don’t know what the future of KI is. Will there be a secret Season4, will S3 just continue and get updates or are they secretly working on a sequel for Scorpio? No matter the case one thing is for sure which is that the goal remains to grow the community as best we can and make this the biggest fighting game it can be and if that means putting your game on every platform then so be it. If a reboot/sequel is coming then you have plenty of time to prepare for a PS4 version as well.

Words cannot even describe the amount of joy that came over me when I heard they were finally putting KI on PC something I was a huge advocate for since season1. Ever since I was a little boy I dreamed of KI coming back to life and now that it has finally returned it’s almost gone again back into the abyss. Don’t let this happen

Never going to happen, might as well ask them to dump Halo and Gears on PS4 as well. Microsoft has a death-grip on its flagship IPs, there’s no way in a million years this will happen.

Pretty much.

Sure, it’s one less system but this is an issue not worth fighting for right now.
There would be absolutely no chance MS would give its competitors its only competition in the fighting game genre.

I think it would be good for KI and for its growth but lets be real here. Fanboys are going to complain. People on here will even say “why did I even get an Xbox.” Lastly there will be literally no reason to get an Xbox if you’re into fighting games at that point and are a console player.

They should put KI on Steam though.

I only wish LCD. I’m not sure they would be able to do that. We may have got the PC, but it’s a long stretch to get on Sony’s console. I don’t think it would be possible. I believe we will figure something out. I refuse to let this game die now. It deserves more.

Lot of typos…

You’re begging for Killer Instinct on PS4 ; it just won’t happen! The only thing KI needs is a port on STEAM.

Did you @CrazyLCD actually given money to KI? Will you give a part of your streaming revenues for KI at EVO? You’re always complaining about KI, but have you did something personally to save KI? Did you purchase Kilgore to support KI Ultra Tour? We don’t need this kind of thread or negativity… Just do something positive that shows that you love and support KI… Did you actually donate for the fundraiser?

Yes those games are available on Xbox One, but which of those games are played at “tournaments” on Xbox One? The answer is none except KI.

I do agree KI needs a steam port as well.

I’m doing more to support KI than you know. I just bought Kilgore, will donate when I get paid this wekeend to the fundraiser, and am traveling to Frosty Faustings this weekend to compete. I also still heavily stream KI even given my 55 hour a week work schedule.

There is nothing wrong for wanting the best for KI and in your eye somehow asking for KI to be on PS4 is spreading negativity…good try though.

they will never allow it on steam unless it stays uwp win10 drm

SFV PS4 exclusivity actually killed the chances of the Xbox One as a viable platform for fighting games. Since Capcom exclusivity, Aksys Games followed the suit, SNK Playmore… That’s their fault, not Microsoft side of things…

I know @BlitzedKraig & @TheKeits are great fans of the Nintendo SWITCH. Since KI was a Nintendo exclusive, it seems logical to KI to appear on this platform. Imagine a KI portable on the go! Microsoft published in the past Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge on GBA via THQ, Banjo-Pilot and more recently, Minecraft on Wii U.

I’ll fully support a portable KI on Nintendo SWITCH.

However, porting KI to PS4 is like giving your best fighting game exclusivity weapon to a rival platform that screwed you actually by securing Street Fighter’s V exclusivity deal away from Xbox One fans… Shame on CAPCOM!

That’s a title I haven’t seen in ages. Never played it though.

Haven’t many of these events used XB1 consoles in the past? Why not just use the very same consoles they had from years past? I’m sure they could dig them out of storage or something…

No offense man but you banged on enough for a PC version don’t start about a ps4 one. We don’t have many exclusives and I don’t see any of the other ones coming to this side of the fence. Tournaments or not, I flat out disagree with a ps4 version.

LCD i know what your saying comes form a good place
and id like to see more people play KI as long its cross network…

BUT first it was the PC now its this? LOLz. No!

Seriously? No! i think in some aspects we have to give up on the tournent scene and ask MS and IG to push this game in the conventional ways with great content and new updates or seasons.

While I do agree that it will help expand the player base, I seriously don’t see this happening any time soon (if at all really). Unless for some odd reason they make an exception to change KI into a 3rd party title, it’s just not gonna fly man. Not to mention Microsoft doesn’t have much exclusives as it is compared to Sony.

Well SFV is on PC to so it’s not really an exclusivity.
KI came on PC, did the game carry a huge number of player? i don’t think so. And it’s not because “it’s not on steam”. I have read a lot of comment of players saying “oh yeah it come on PC i’m definitely play this game” and other bullshit like SF or GG player saying KI is a very good fighting game, but no one of them is playing it.
Now here in France i see a lot GG or BB or KOF palyers complaining because there’s no one online. Online room stay empty and if it’s not offline event they don’t play those game. In the USA you have the chance to have a big FGC. When i go online in KI i ALWAYS find someone to play thanks to a great netcode and great online infrastructure.
Now you want to now why all those game don’t bring a lot of player? it’s simple, they are not SF.
Despite all the issue and critic the game had since the release, it’s still played.
KI have been boo-ed even before the release. So FOR ME it’s not because it’s only on XOne or on Windows store. It’s just because this game is not a SF game.

Having a healthy community which doesn’t spread misinformation(like, dunno, CBs aren’t working), or more positive behaviour towards the game (like, dunno, researching for more tech and knowledge instead of nonsense complaining about X characters/ X season was better / whatever) would help the game better than anything.

It’s ok to have an opinion and give discussion about how to improve the game. But I see a lot of people who “loves the game” just wanting to change the game too much, like, virtually transforming it into a totally different one.

If we want to help KI growing, we just have to demostrate, tell everyone how awesome the game is. The game is raising, and even when it had low Evo participants, it’s increase each year is unpaired.

Yes the KIWC is the reason there are more KI players. :unamused:

It couldn’t be “games with gold” giving S2 away for free!!!

How is you going to a tournament in Chicago help KI get to EVO? The only way you help KI at EVO is by giving the money you win th EVO.

SSB is the biggest community in fighting games.Nintendo wouldn’t put SSB on Sony because there is no reason to. So it is kind of mandatory to have SSB and Nintendo consoles at every tourney that plays smash
