The game evolved. The same as SFIV evolved into SSFIV, SSFIV into SSFIV arcade edition, and SSFIV AE into USFIV. Each of them with new characters or mechanics, like several ultras, red focus, etc…
KI evolved with new mechanics and characters. If you don’t like the direction it got, well, people have opinions, and not everyone likes the same, of course. But I(and many) like the direction the game took.
Thank you IG, I like a lot how the game is evolving!
Well, that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. And I’m grateful about that.
Again, I have no problem having constructive discussion about how the game should evolve, and several points of view are wellcome and nice.
But spreading misinformation or apocalyptic statements(Change this or the game is doomed!) aren’t. That’s what must be left out
I don’t think you get it; DH was bought off sometimes before the game development started so DH had to finish it off before they were taken over. Amazong was nice enough to let them finish it before being taken away.
The people at DH who developed KI likely didn’t have any choice and had to go or lose their jobs. They likely weren’t the people who had the power to choose not to be bought or not. Nothing’s as simple as Black and White here.
Which reminds me, I wonder if Amazon even DID anything with them yet?
If they were bought before the games development started MS would’ve went straight to IG to make it from day one.
I’m just sick of people crying that it should’ve been DH that should’ve kept going. They decided to be bought over, it wasn’t a hostile buy. So they did go were the money was. Amazon have them doing a few things I’ve seen.
I’m don’t always agree with everything you say, LCD, but I definitely hear you on this point.
Also, thank you for saying KI is potentially not being at EVO versus saying it’s straight up not there and for acknowledging that we still have a chance! I’m glad you also acknowledge that more folks are trying out KI!
Lastly, you’ve definitely done a ton for the KI community (I missed those top 32 tourneys btw) - which I thank you for! And at least in this post I’d say you’re pretty positive! _#CounterBreakersDoWork
and to @BblackorchidD I definitely hear ya. It’s kind of a weird thing with KI players (and FGC in general tbh), definitely not exclusive to LCD … I’ve talked about this already … way back in 2015 lol …
and basically last week …
While we definitely reap what we sow, people can change and can be more positive! Maybe KI is that funnel???
I support this. I love KI and want to see it succeed and continue to grow, putting it on PS4 would only do good things for the game. Obviously won’t happen though.
IMO it’s silly to “fault” DH for being bought out by Amazon and not continuing to make KI. If you are a studio, you have to think long term what is best for your company, and Amazon was clearly the best choice for them. They are now making a game that looks pretty cool for a company that has a bazillion dollars and seemingly unlimited creative freedom to do new things in a cool space. Turning that down to develop one specific, niche game for 2 more years (and then what?) is a bad business decision by any metric.
As for KI on PS4… I mean, I don’t like console exclusivity for anything. In a perfect world, everyone can play any game they want. And I think it’s sad how Microsoft has disenfranchised itself so completely and totally from the FGC; they had an overwhelming lead at the end of the 360, with virtually every FG tournament player invested in the Xbox ecosystem with games and sticks and accessories, and they threw it all away in less than a year, even with the only next-gen fighter on the market! That is pretty special.
But they aren’t going to put it on PS4, because all companies are trying to use their exclusives to build their brand and install base. They don’t really care too much about “how many Halo or KI players do we have” if they aren’t playing on the Xbox/Win10 ecosystem.
The Ultra game mechanic was already in place. That’s not a new game mechanic.
Red focus didn’t alter gameplay noticeably.
What’s the “etc?” because those are the only 2 things I can come up with across a 7-year life span. And really, that’s 1 mechanic. Not 2.
People who come back to KI from S1 or early S2 don’t recognize the game. I see this happen all the time. I’m not interested in debating whether that’s good or bad, but you can’t argue that the game isn’t signficantly different.
Hell, even S2 → S3 is a drastic shift. Nevermind S1->S3.
That’s great! You don’t need to feel persecuted by the opposing opinion.

I don’t think anyone is expecting it to happen. I just wanted to follow up on your statement about people who “want the game to change.”
Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?
Interesting. Well, I guess the writing’s on the wall with that one. See: EVO and associated fundraiser.
Your definition of “positive” is different from mine.
I think criticism is part of the healthy process of refinement.
You can call us negative, toxic, etc all you want, but there have been so many changes in this game that likely came about due to our “constant negativity.”
Delayed wakeup is in there as the main one he didn’t list. And there are other important “bug fixes” that are basically the same as new mechanics (such as improved wakeup block detection removing many unblockables, DP FADC being punishable, etc).
