I like how they chose to dye her hair and make it a bit more modern. The original Kim Wu didn’t have much of an Asian look aside the stage and her outfit design. There is a weird difference in quality between the trailer and the in game demonstration by Keits. She looked fantastic in many ways during the live demo. Her outfit is pretty cool but the jacket is a little plain. That’s my small nitpick. I can’t comment fully on WIP, it doesn’t feel justifiable.
I feel that’s the reason they chose to show Kim off in game after the trailer. The proof of her being an exceptionally well-progressing developing character is evident in the difference of the fluid exhibition compared to the trailer
Let’s give IG kudos for a job well done. I bet after this craziness, we won’t see or hear of Tusk until his day of release lol!
I can never tell if IG appreciates feedback along with praise. They always plenty of both, in any case. I’m hoping they give us an early enough peek at Tusk that we can contribute some thoughts.
But who am I kidding? My love of Tusk is what inspired me to pick up this game in 2013. After two seasons of disappointment at his absence, I don’t think I’m going to be very picky.
Tbh RT the jacket sleeve is the bit i dont like.
Id make it short and sleeve less possibly and elaborate more on the hair.
For me her vfx are too solid too. She juts looks like a ball of fire when she gets going and its not massively elegant
Trust me, Kim and Tusk were the only characters I used to play myself. I fully understand your feelings.
Kim’s classic face and looks in the older were awful and therefore it could only get better in modern KI version. So, I’m not being picky with Kim either.
Tusk I played partly for his character design (in addition to gameplay), something I didn’t have with Kim. So that’s the only aspect I get slightly nervous about with Tusk, since it’s been a long wait.
Any link for her theme?? ![]()
I like her new design can’t wait to see the retro, I think the main reason her retro won’t have the thong is to make it look different from sadiras default but that’s just my guess so long as it’s not some horrible adaptation of her original then I’m fine.
Right?? There was just something about his design that set him apart from the others, in my mind. Back in the 90s I found all the other characters to be boring and cliche, but to me Tusk was different.
I always felt like he was the one character who really took the fighting seriously. Doesn’t waste as much time with kicks and punches. Nearly all his attacks are sword swings. No flopping around. No finesse. He wants to end the fight, not dance around.
But this is a subject for a yet non-existent thread…
This is probably because of the lighting in Kim Wu’s stage. She probably looks better on the other stages but can’t know for sure since they changed the lighting on all of them.
Sadiras costume was literally a modernized version of Kim Wu’s original costume. Maybe someone at DH studios had a disdain for Kim Wu and didn’t think she’d ever be in the game so they redesigned her previous outfit for Sadira instead.
I 100% agree with this as well.
Sadiras design is DEFINITELY made from Kim Wu since Kim wasn’t supposed to be in the reboot during S1. ![]()
It’s another reason why I feel Kim’s design should need more tweaking since her and Sadira both have some similar looks into them as far as concept goes.
Hey good observation! There you have it. We DO have Retro Kim Wu… On Sadira.
This too.
Unless Kim’s retro will be like a Chun Li inspired design we’ll just have to see
Definitely. When I first saw Sadira’s red hair accessory I thought it was a weird color choice but then it became apparent. It’s as if someone at Double Helix was thinking “man, how can we make a female character that looks like Kim Wu but ISNT Kim Wu because boy was she a terrible idea for a character in the past.” I wouldn’t be surprised because developers have openly expressed their disdain for Eyedol as well. For some reason the designers have a way of cannibalizing their previous character designs. Or how Hisako initially seemed like a shot fired at Sadira.
Or how season 2 plastered everywhere felt like a shot fired at season 1.
Why are you taking a small piece of evidence: Sadira’s outfit is clearly related to Kim Wu’s in design, and then tacking on a completely unsubstantiated conjecture that makes no sense : “someone at DH had disdain for Kim Wu?” Normally, people copy things they like. When Sadira was made they had no idea if there would be a Season 2 let alone S3. I think it is far more likely that Sadira was originally supposed to BE Kim Wu, but they decided she had changed too much and made her a different character. I don’t know what possible reason you could have for making up something like that.
The same with your suggestion that labeling the S2 game with S2 is somehow a veiled criticism of season 1. This is, frankly, a ridiculous idea that has been well discussed in these forums. Funny how no one claims that having an Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament is a shot fired at vanilla Street Fighter IV.
Everyone in this thread is taking things way to far. You got Kim wu. That’s all I can say.
Unsubstantiated conjecture? If that’s the case, then neither of us know the truth behind this yet I could use the evidence of developers vehemently expressing their disdain towards Eyedol Or the idea that Tusk and Kim Wu were considered to be the least popular characters back when KI2 became a thing. What I’m proposing isn’t matter of fact, it’s more about perspective and what appears to be a certain way not just by myself.
Maybe it is true that Sadira was meant to be Kim Wu, I wouldn’t disagree with that notion either. Using the phrase “it’s as if” isn’t as rigid as you’re trying to make it seem and I do acknowledge the possibility of other reasons. Yet they are still connected to the core of usurping a previous character’s design for another one.
And as far as the season 1 vs 2, there’s a reason why this has been brought up and discussed so often in these forums. Other than that, you have a talent for labeling things as “completely nonsenical, absurdly ridiculous, a preposterous construct made up within your deluded imagination!!!111!1!” yet for some reason other people notice these things as well.
No, no one else has “noticed” that someone from DH had “disdain” for Kim Wu. And it is a HUGE leap from “Sadira’s outfit is reminiscent of Kim Wu’s” to “it’s as if DH thought Kim Wu was a terrible character design.” There is no logic at all connecting those ideas. No normal person would think “they copied Kim Wu’s outfit, they must hate Kim Wu.” Sorry. And pointing out that they have issues with Eyedol is completely unrelated. It’s like saying “because they hate cheese they could also hate pie.” Yeah, they might hate pie. But they are not more likely to hate it because they hate cheese.
Also, as you know, saying “other people agree” doesn’t make an idea less stupid. The idea of some sort of conflict or competition between S1 and S2 is, again, baseless. They haven’t “plastered everywhere” Season 2. That’s simply what they call the game in its current state. When they launch Season 3 they will call it KI Season 3. Why do I suspect you won’t have the same disparaging things to say about that?
You just always seem to be trying to stir up discontent and bad feelings. Not to put too fine a point on it, but if I were to say “it’s as if you were an ■■■■■■■,” would you be comfortable that I was just proposing one of the many hypothetical things you might be? It’s not like I’m being rigid about it… Of course not. You would be upset, and rightly so. The meaning of “it’s as if” is “I think that.”
Right now, everyone is hype about Kim Wu and you are fabricating stories about how DH thought Kim Wu was terrible. And you describe it (incorrectly) as usurping - which means to take illegally, infringe or encroach on someone’s rights. That’s a very negative way of saying Sadira’s clothes look like Kim Wu’s. Why? There is no reason to be posting in this thread about S2 being a shot fired at S1. I’m having trouble even imagining how Hisako was a “shot fired” at Sadira. Not everything is a veiled criticism of something else.
Oh PLEASE do t give them ideas for brown stockings and cookie hair puffs
That (Chun Li) has to be one of the worst fighter costumes ever
Ya do know it was only an example right
? not saying its a must
I would disagree with her costume tho.
