Doesn’t excuse it. Tournaments should give equal opportunity to all competitors. This is pretty bad they allow this.

There is an equal oppurtunity. Everyone has access to the same characters in torunaments. If you really want,you can buy a day one xbox live gold card for Shago.
Equal opportunity is the full ability to practice with a character by buying it.
Every other game series in the FGC has unambiguously banned characters that were’nt accessible to everyone via regular means.
Kratos in MK9? Nope. Just because tournaments were PS3 doesn’t mean people could practice with him fully.
I’ve actually defended Shago in other threads against people calling him cheap, but he should honestly not be tournament legal due to this.
It’s actually quite odd given IG’s proximity to the FGC that they’d have a limited availability character.
“Every other game series in the FGC…” KI isn’t like other FGCs in the purchasing model. Furthermore,you can still get him via other means. In fact,we don’t exactly how future pricing will work. They can release a true complete retail/digital version that includes Shadow Jago for all we know.
If future pricing means he’s available universally, of course he should be legal when that happens.
But characters that aren’t avaivalbe to everyone are not legitimate tournament characters.
I guess it’s their game and if they want to allow him in their ranked mode that’s fine, but it’s unfair to tournament players who may have started playing KI after the end of his availability.
Do you know what else is unfair? Not allowing players who own him to use him in tourneys. In fact,he was released not too long ago so it is currently fine. Along the road and still not available,we have a problem.
No. That’s perfectly fair. If you bought a character that you knew had limited availability you should know the precedent.
They’re not supposed to be in tournaments. Period.

I would like to confirm that I have also encountered this bug, to further corroborate that this is indeed a bug that currently exists.

It’s not a bug, Shadow Jago was only available for purchase in December 2015 and during the community fund. They will make him purchasable at some point in the future, but he is meant to have an element of exclusivity.
Also, There is a bug in which Aganos’s LP cannot destroy Cinders’ Pyrobombs.
Can I just say that there are ways around it if learning the character is what you really want to do.
- Play against the CPU in versus.
- Go to Practice, select Shago as the opponent, then hit record and go to town.
@TheKeitsI I noticed that Maya wasn’t picking up her daggers using Shadow Tumble kick in the S3 build you guys were playing on Sunday. Not sure you guys were aware or not but I’m sure you are.
I don’t get it. You’re saying it’s not a bug, and then describing a phenomenon that could only be interpreted as being a bug, in the same sentence? Sounds like a bug to me.

You’re explicitly disallowed from doing this with characters you don’t own.
A bug would imply it was unintentional, but IG did that on purpose. They intended for Shadow Jago to only be available during these times & not always purchasable.
So the store is so bugged-out that their intent was forced to become to only make Shago temporarily available? Man, fix your store, MS.

Your missing the point. IG did not limit his availability because of the Microsoft store or any other technical boundaries. They did it to give Shadow Jago an element of exclusivity so that you could not just buy him at any time; that’s the whole point of Shadow Jago, not just anyone can have him.

Yeah it’s weird. I think they stopped using that tool to develop new characters a while ago, but the Shadow Jago glitch remains. I thought Exclu-sivity was sunsetted as a FG development tool a while ago, but I’m not in those meetings.
I don’t think it would cost them very much to fix this bug (might even be just one line of code?). Hopefully they get around to it sooner rather than later. Would be a shame for this bug to rear its ugly head on new players in Season 3.
