Yeah I saw that. It wouldn’t shock me, though I’m really hoping it doesn’t happen. No offense to that franchise and its’ fans. I actually like those movies. And when MKX originally came out, I was all in favor of guests to help bring the total number of buys up.
I always want MK to sell as well as humanly possible because I’d love to see sequels to this series pretty much until the end of time, and a lot of people seemed genuinely stoked for Predator and Jason, so good on them.
But now that MKX has sold a ton and we’ve had one Kombat Pack, I kinda feel like the next (and in all likelihood final) Kombat Pack should be more for the hardcore audience; the people that still play MKX 8+ months after it came out and/or have been fans of this series for a long time.
I’m sure that some of these fans would love a Xenomorph in MK, but I get the feeling that a larger portion of these core players just want more MK characters. I don’t think you’re luring casual fans that bought this game early back to MKX with a Xenomorph.
Many of the casuals likely moved on from this game several months ago and haven’t looked back, so I tend to doubt that putting this type of character in will make them dust the game off again, but who knows, I could be wrong.
So yeah, I’ll be curious to see what we end up with. I’m still hoping for something like two classic characters and two post-trilogy / obscure characters. I think that’s a solid number. I’d prefer three or even four post-trilogy characters, but I can’t imagine they’d ever be crazy enough to do that.
But something like Baraka, Noob, Fujin and Sareena would be cool. Maybe Smoke instead of Noob. But something along those lines.
I’d be happy with either of those choices provided they don’t make Bo Rai Cho the funny fat guy that burps and farts and pukes and what not again.
It’s not even the whole “fat dude as punchline” aspect, though that’s a little grating, it’s really just that I hate the idea of taking the martial arts “sage” character from the series, the guy that taught Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and making him a joke. To me, it’s not just bad character development, it’s weak storytelling.
They already slimmed him up a bit for this game, and it’s not like he was constantly tooting while talking to Raiden, so maybe that’s more the route they’re going, which has me hopeful. Guess we’ll find out soon!
C’mon Smoke-A-Bo2016!
While they’re at it, any of Fujin, Sareena or Baraka would be pretty awesome too.
Just in time!!! After all this whole thing about no ultimates for season 3… Heinrich? Is that you?! lol
I wish Rain to be playable but anyway… There’s a big reason now to keep playing MK9. OMG! A cyborg!!! YES! That’s how a true fighting game is suppose to be.
