What’s so good about Cyber Smoke? He doesn’t exist in this timeline, and most of his old moves were taken from other characters (ie the spear, the teleport uppercut, the air throw, invisibility). Other than making a stinky cloud… I dunno, from a gameplay perspective, I’d almost think that they’d have to completely redesign him.
Now, Sareena needs a lot of redesign in her move list, so I’m not saying he’s any worse off than she is in that regard. But if they’re on an even playing field as far as moves, and I think they’d have to be, then where is his design superior in any other way?
He’s the third robot, so it’s not like he’s all that original. Sure he was Sub Zero’s friend when he was human, but again… There’s no plotline to play out here between Sub and Cyber Smoke since Smoke was never automated in this timeline.
She has more going on in her story, she has a unique premise for an MK character (being part demon and a good guy), she technically exists in this timeline… I dunno, I don’t see where Cyber Smoke would be the better option.
Of course, you’re entitled to your opinion. You like Cyber Smoke, so good on you. I don’t hate him, by any means. I’m just not overly hopeful that he’d return in this game. I also don’t get why you hate Sareena so much, yet like him so much. Oh well.

I have five reasons about cyber Smoke must return.
One reason: I don’t want Cyber Smoke become forgotten MK character. I really want Cyber Smoke’s return like Tremor.
Two reason: If Cyber Smoke’s return then he’ll get redesigns, movesets and etc.
Three reason: Cyber Smoke is first appearance before Sareena.
Four reason: Smoke’s first appeared in MK2 but he don’t playable. Cyber Smoke is first playable before Human Smoke.
Five reason: Be honestly, I’m very very miss him because he’s didn’t return for while.
I don’t hate her. I just don’t care about her…

Yeah, I remember, I was just saying from a logic standpoint between MK characters, it’d seem more logical to pick an MK character that actually exists over a character that doesn’t, so in that regard, guest characters don’t really fit in to the discussion. They’re guests. They’re separate from MK regardless of whether they have arcade endings.
I can respect that, but Smoke was in MK9 and he was briefly seen in MKX’s storyline as a revenant (if I recall correctly) even if he wasn’t on the roster. I don’t think Smoke could be forgotten, cyber or human. I’d personally rather see his human revenant story advanced in the next MK as opposed to them changing him in to a cyber version for a guest character and having to explain all that, but that’s just me.
Well yeah, so would most characters. Not sure why that would make him unique in that regard. If Fujin was a Kombat Pack character, he’d get a redesign. I’d much rather see what they could do with him, or Reiko, Kai, Kira, Bo Rai Cho, Sareena and a lot more. I’d personally rather see a lot of the 3D era characters get another chance.
If that’s relevant to you, then no problem. For me though, as a fan of each and every game, a character being from the Trilogy era means next to nothing. I don’t believe that a character needs to be in the game because they’ve been around longer.
If anything, I thought that held MKX’s roster back a bit. I’d have much rather seen new iterations on some of the MK4 and 3D era characters over having all of Kung Lao, Kitana, Reptile, Liu Kang and Sonya.
I know some of them had parts to play (some more than others), but MKX’s roster was very safe overall and that honestly kinda bored me a little. So yeah, a character being around longer isn’t a notch in their favor in my opinion. I like a lot of the Trilogy characters, but none of them are sacred cows in my mind.

Understandable. I’m a long time Baraka fan and outside of getting some time in the sun in MK Deception, he’s either been ignored or relegated to lackey status in every game. Getting destroyed by D’Vorah in about five seconds in MKX’s story mode was definitely a low point.
Still, I guess I can’t complain too much. He’s been in a lot of games while Cyber Smoke hasn’t. I don’t necessarily agree with much of your logic behind wanting him, but I totally respect your right to your opinion and hope for your sake that he makes it in.

Hornbuckle? You want Liu Kang on fire from the Pit II… I know you’re not alone in that regard, but man, that’s a unique list you’ve got there, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Not the way I would’ve gone, but hey, here’s hoping we both get some characters we want!
If we got Fujin, Baraka and Noob, I’d be happy. Although a small part of me hopes they hold Noob over until the next game so he can be a bigger part of story mode. He’s one of my favorites.
Bo Rai Cho, I’m on the fence about. On one hand, I love his role in MK, but I just hate that they made him such a joke character with the burping and farting and puking and what not. If they made him a cooler drunken master and toned down the BS, I’d be 100% in favor of him coming back.
I think we’ll get a lady in there as well (as far as your second group goes), and while I’m hoping for Sareena or would be content with Kira or would be shocked if we saw Jade after so much radio silence from the devs on that character, my guess is Sindel. I’m not a Sindel fan at all really. Never been big on her design, even if they did give her some cool stuff in MK9.
So yeah, if it’s all MK characters and no guests, even if there’s a character or two that I’m not that big on, I’d still be very happy. If at least two of the characters are 3D era characters, I’d be ecstatic. There were some decent designs / concepts in the 3D era and I’d love to see them get the proper treatment and not the move swapping garbage they did back then.

Yeah I can’t believe they’ve been radio silent for so long. I thought for sure we’d know at least one of the KP2 characters by now. Seemed like Boon was teasing here and there but well, a boon’s gotta boon, I guess.

Well Ed Boon recently has been making/dropping teases of the Alien/Xenomorph making a potential appearance as another guest character in Mortal Kombat X
