I suppose so, especially the part in Aftermath where Raiden almost reverted to his Darker self after Lui Kang tried defending past Scorpion. I just find it odd they built up so much, only for it to go nowhere. Really felt like a total bait and switch, which I am just not a fan of with a lot of media these days.
(Given a few occasions when it feels earned. MK11’s case just felt like sticking a round peg into a square hole, story wise.)
Considering Lui Kang’s new role, I am curious if they plan on having Young Raiden fill the void as Earthrealm’s champion this time around. Doubtful, but would be a strange inverse of the characters if he ends up defeating the end boss.
He has power over time and the ability to reshape reality, yes. Creating/reshaping gods, though? Not as certain. Raiden is mortal, but that seems more due to his giving Liu Kang his power than Liu Kang overtly making Raiden that way. He brought back Reptile and Baraka, but those two are far, FAAAAR different from a ssholes like Shinnok, Kronika and Shao Kahn.

So based on the character select screen we saw at the initial reveal, we’re getting 24 base game characters and we have 18 revealed. Where are you placing your bets on the last 6?

Playable or Kameo, those are my best guess.
I can’t believe they’d leave out Kano. So for me it’s Jax, Sonya, Kano, Jade, I’m pretty sure we saw Kai in the trailer so I’ll bet on him… and then General Shao. I’m not betting on Reiko. I remember years and years of people doing nothing but ■■■■■■■■ on Reiko.
Also it is worth noting that the only colored ninja we’re missing at this point is Noob Saibot. Something to consider since people threw a hissy fit over not having all their pallet swaps last time.
I miss Kabal. And Nightwolf. And Stryker. And Sindel. And Cyrax. And Sektor. And Sheeva.

Well there was a leaked cutscene with Reiko attacking the new Edenia, so if thats anything to consider. I have a feeling he might return. Hopefully he ends up playable and not just a kameo.
Ever since MKX, I was very disappointed he never made the roster, despite the whole “Reiko Accords” they kept referring to from the comics.
Not sure what everyones beef with him was, but I never minded him. If anything, had they kept him around as “The Next Kahn” there could’ve been a lot to explore with him as a rival to Kotal. But instead, we got squat.
Remaining six I’m thinking.
1: Reiko
2: Sindel
3: Nitara
4: Jax
5: Sonya
6: Jade
That’s my most realistic guess.
I do want Sektor and Cyrax, so I hope will be DLC. maybe we will see.
Maybe we could see others too.

The problem is any of these “shoe in” characters could just as easily be a part of season 2 of DLC as well.
Aren’t we supposed to be getting Deathstroke and Harley Quinn in KP2? Judging from the potential leaks.

Deathstroke I could kinda see if they’re going the DC route, but Harley just doesn’t sit right.
I mean Joker gets mutilated all the time, its kinda his thing. But with Harley just feels a little weird seeing her getting ripped to pieces. Idk
(I am aware of Cassies’ costume in MK11, but thats besides the point.)

It’s not just VS online. You can also play a tower. I’ve played it and as I thought… the Kameo players are gonna get old to me in about a day… but it’s MK. Imma gonna get it regardless.
