True,I loved tekken aswel skipped Alpha tho.
The arcades would like to have some words about that statement. Also, ST came out around that time frame, as did UMK3. If I recall, those were the two dominant parties with a smattering of Tekken and KI here and there. Then of course there were those SNK weirdos.
all I’m saying is that the N64 wasn’t the platform of choice.
So I am guessing I’m not only one wanting Tj’s retro custom fixed!?!
Which one exactly? I believe TJ’s retros aren’t particularly bad, I was thinking more along the lines of Rat Sabrewulf and Fat Fulgore.
It was more that statement. For fighters, the arcades was the dominating place in the mid 90s.
I partially agree with you OP.
The following is my personal opinion at the time of the original publication of this post and may change over time.
Season 3’s introduction of flipouts, as well as the fact that they’re capitalising on juggles and flashy combos, unlike the (potentially) more grounded game of s2, means that as a player with no sight, the game’s just gotten more frustrating as more characters are released. Mira is mostly unplayable at the moment due to her glass cannon nature (which though I could get used to with time I’ll always get beat out on by sighted players unless I’m lucky), Arbiter is so set up heavy that sometimes I feel it’s not worth fighting him as he can nearly always catch me even if I block and Kim has an overpowered deflect that can channel pretty much any projectile straight back at me, thus making a Jago VS Kim match hardly worth fighting at all at times.
Tusk is relatively fine for the most part, but the fact that all his autos/linkers (the ones that aren’t shadow moves) look near enough the same sound wise is really frustrating. Need I say anything about Rash other than I believe he’s very much in the realm of a character that, I feel, is too safe on most attacks and can apply pressure at a fast and more confident rate than most characters…
I’m curious to see whether shadow lords mode will be playable (and to what extent), as well as seeing how the new characters play as they come out, but whilst S3 day one was relatively fair with people not understanding how everything worked, as time’s gone on I’ve found myself getting more and more salty about losing based on S3 mechanics than I can remember being in S2.
Not that KI is a bad game, there’s just been a few decisions that I’ve not been a fan of character gameplay and mechanics wise (Cinder’s arial trailblazer, Kan-Ra’s swarms, Maya’s dagger spam and Aria’s drone assist spam as well as Shago getting his own move set in terms of S2 now I’ve had time to think about it).
I’ll still keep playing regardless, as I enjoy the game, I’m just hoping that things don’t make me even more frustrated as time goes on. I’m aware I’m in a minority, but MVC3 gave me a headache when I played it and MKX has just lost a lot of the hype where it’s moved to an almost purely tournament circuit. KI is probably the only game that I can think of that doesn’t solely use tournaments as a way to promote itself and where the community is friendly and willing to help if I need any assistance with in-game questions.
Please title your thread appropriately. “Maybe it’s just me but” is not a thread title that tells people anything about what you are going to say.
Since this is one of the dozens of completely non-constructive “the game used to be good but I don’t like it any more” threads, where the OP “can’t put his finger on why they game is so bad now,” it should be labelled as such.
Lol at the thought of kim wu being OP!
You pretty much just summed up my feelings exactly on S3 so far.
But… that is just a summation of facts. There’s no opinion of positivity or negativity in that snippet of quote.
People like to bag on LCD for saying Kim Wu is bad but as a level 50 Kim Wu player and people saying Kim Wu is OP is kind of crazy talk. It takes a lot more than a regular KI character to play Kim Wu. Every other KI character has special moves that practically get you in no matter where you are on the screen while playing as Kim Wu you have to play extra patient and have to play some SFV footsie games unlike the rest of the cast. Life is tough as a Kim Wu player and the real thing making her balanced is her damage output. Without that she would be the worst character in the game.
Every season has introduced something new. It’s something to be expected about when you’re playing an esport season based game. League of Legends is a completely different game today than it was at launch.
As for juggles the problem isn’t that they are flashy. It’s obvious sightless has an issue with them because his lack of vision prevents him from using or fighting against them appropriately. Personally my issue with juggles is that they are bootstrapped in the game. I wanted juggles in the game since early season 2 but with the combo system in the air instead of just hitting a normal and a special to keep them their. Just feels unsatisfying. Also silly that even though Sadira was the air combo character Shago is the one who has characters in the air the longest and can even convert into a regular ground combo.
Flip outs just introduced the 50/50 style of play which am not a fan of. thank the KI gods there are only a few characters that do that.
LOL okay so there’s no emotional I should say , " Sums up my thoughts exactly." Is that better.
Imo S3 mechanics is more focused on juggling, which is fine if you like to juggle or use a juggling character. I don’t sight should have anything to do not liking juggling. Just a preference if I wanted to juggle there are character specifically made for them. I like playing on the ground. Not dirty though. ![]()
The thingis juggling doesn’t really give you anything besides harder to break combos. Well at least for Sadira, Shago is another story.
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. As much as I liked season one, I honestly think it’s my least favorite. IGs character designs seem to have so much more going on with them and a lot more stuff that I’ve never really seen a lot of in the genre. Add to that all the additional mechanics and the game really does live up to that evolving platform ideal that people talked about when first trying to explain new KI.
Again though, I don’t expect everyone to love IGs vision because I do think it’s a bit different from DH’s. I just personally like IGs more, which I didn’t even think was possible given how mulch I enjoyed DH’s work.
It’s not the combo breaking for me it’s game play wise. I wish it was a little bit more diverse for those that like ground game play. If that makes sense.
But it’s not like they took away the ground game.
