With the jago gif you lose both fireballs in the new ender. Just an explosion of particles and your back out again.
It goes dark to quickly, into a very awkward angle and back out again. It does take away from the pro look of the game.
Maybe they should do a mix of the 2.
Keep the look and crunch from the original but at a slight angle and layer the new effects behind them. Tho maybe change the teal colour to neon green.
I think the problem is also how quick it all happens. I know its for timing but it’s so sudden then your fighting again.
I too want the game to have the cinematic look and feel that they’re going for. Heck we’ve all been saying bout it for years but I think they might be over reaching at this point.
Maybe take it out until they decide how to proceed with it.
If anything I think that kind of transition should be applied to ultras as having the camera move around during a match is a tad disorientating but I’m up to giving them a shot when it’s released.
Anything has to say? A comment?
Ugh, that looks really rough. ![]()
A few things to note: I’m not opposed to the devs experimenting with ways to make an ender more impactful. I’m a sucker when it comes to cool looking cinematics if they’re well executed. These level four enders look like they have the potential to be well executed. Currently however they are some of the most jarring animations that I’ve seen in this game.
The main point I’d like to address my dissatisfaction for these is how they disrupt the flow of the fight. Luckily Infil covered a large amount of why I’m currently dissatisfied with these enders so I can keep this relatively short. First off, the original enders had a really nice balance between impact and recovery. When you inputted an original ender you got a quick but hard hitting series of hits and then you quickly returned to the 2D plane. It’s a smooth process that jumps right back into the game and that incredibly fast recovery is what makes KI the most suspenseful game to watch at a tournament. These new enders, while still returning to the fight pretty fast, are so jarring that it diverts some of that edge of watching the fight.
My other concern is the rapid colouration shift. It again looks jarring when two characters being distinctly lit by the stage just switch to being engulfed in darkness. If they’re going to transition into darkness then I honestly believe that the process needs to be longer and that the characters need to properly darken while submerged in darkness.
Honestly these enders look like they need some serious work. I know KI’s a budget title but hot ■■■■ these new enders look like they’re alpha stage work that hopefully in their current state don’t roll out in the finished product. I’m concerned that when EVO comes around a lot of folks are going to be turned off by them. In the worst case scenario they might become a point of embarrassment when KI’s being compared to SFV and other established fighting games on the world stage. ![]()
Maybe they should have done something like this for the Ultras.
for ultra, the stage break, it’s not possible.
But i think this is it a april’s fish!!
I like it but I want to see the stage in the background instead of it being darkness.
wow people continue to spread falsehood abt something they havnt seen in a stream working correctly without dropping frames. HOW MANY TIMES DO THEY HAVE TO TELL US EVERYTHING THEY SHOW US EARLY IS STILL BEING WORKED ON??? THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE SEEN THESE ENDERS THEY WILL BE BETTER THE NEXT TIME WE SEE THEM JUST LIKE EVERYTHING WE HAVE SEEN IN THE GAME THE PAST 3 YEARS!!! SMDH!!!
Great write up, some things I didn’t even think of and you are 100% right about them (like your second point, that is definitely an issue).
Like I already said, I dislike them, they look bad. Let’s be honest here, KI never looked high budget, but the devs played to the game’s strengths and used tools they had to make the game look as good as possible with what they have. Now they tried to make it look “epic”, “cinematic”, high budget and failed. It’s a thing, where it either looks good or cheap and terrible, there is no middle ground. And the worst thing is, that was utterly non-essential, if you want to make level 4 enders more satisfying, you can achieve that with the very basics like sound effects, camera work, hitstop, particle effects.
I hope devs will see past the sunk cost fallacy and reverse the change. I mean, you spent money, congratulations, the game now looks worse. And now they just might as well leave it, so MS don’t scold them for wasted resources.
No, I hope both MS and IG would undersatnd that sometimes experiments fail and it costs money, but you have to deal with it for the betterment of the game.
WHAT??? they should reverse a feature that most people love because of a loud minority?? lol …nice joke smdh
Do you have a single piece of data to back up that claim that most people love it?
If you’re going by this poorly design poll, then ‘most’ people (over 50%) could actually care less for the new effects and it seems their numbers are rising quickly.
I’m an optimistic guy. I have faith in new shadow effects, I have faith in the tradeoff of 3 stages in this season. I understand that developers are in a hard position, and not all will be pleased with the decisions they made.
But I cant see the point of this enders. They cut the flow of the animations. They take you out in juggle/wall splat enders, messing with your spacing. They hide the stages, one of the top assets of the game.
If you perform an ultra, this will never occur, because stages have special animations when they are performed. Why then use this midgame? Are lvl 4 enders so special against an ultra, so they deserve this change of camera and no stage? I can see it in Ultimates and special moves (Shago, Omen’s demonic despair…), but not in a “common” lvl 4 ender
I could say more, but @infilament nailed it. At first I was really hyped with the new UI. Now… Well, I dont know how to feel. I love this game, but… I just cant see a match and feel the power of the lvl 4 enders.
Please, reconsider reverting this before launch. This is a pace breaker point for the game.
even though this post heavily tries to brain wash people into hating the new effects, the poll still says that most people love it. and if people were not influenced by falsehood being spread by some people even more people would love it its amazing how people love spreading negativity
my greatest dissappointment is in infil, for him to comment so categorically abt something that is unfinished and is still being polished is unfortunate to say the least smdh
How is it trying to brainwash people? In you’r3 talking about the pictures, they were added about 30 minutes ago, well after most of those votes were cast.
And what’s wrong with providing people with a basis of comparison?
There are at least four different threads specifically talking about how bad these effects look, which speaks volumes about how put off people are by it.
If anything, the purpose of threads like this one is to provide a sense of urgency for the devs to step up their game not a little but by a lot. The effects clearly need a lot of work, which I don’t think can be completed in less than two weeks.
“Oh, 80 people on this forum like something about those enders, this surely means that the whole fanbase that has tens or hundreds of thousands of people unanimously loves them!”
No, that’s not how it works.
Yeah, scrеw that guy for disliking things I like!
Also, there is literally zero indication that those enders are being worked on or will be polished in the future. Like it was already mentioned, the release build has probably been locked for a while. Judging by the amount of unfixed bugs in this game, they might say “good enough” and leave it as is.
Listen everyone has an opinion. Mine is that I know what they’re going for but atm it looks to alpha to leave in the game.
It takes away form the crunch of the finisher.
In no way do I want lvl 4 shadow enders. Its just a normal move.
For the most part I love the new ui and what not but this is a step backward.
I’ll wait to see what it looks like when I’m playing the game but it takes you outta the moment too quickly and back again.
Isn’t there a development stream tonight?
Maybe they’ll address it then
SMDH!!! YOU HAVE ZERO UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THINGS WORK BEHIND THE SCENES!! the fact that they showed us the latest build doesnt mean they are not already working on the final build!!! until they say this is the final build everything you see is work in progress!! it is entirely possible that what we saw is a build that was complete 2 weeks ago. its amazing how narrow minded people can be sometimes
