Killer Instinct Season 3 Graphics Shine Brighter

I want to agree with this. But history suggests it’s not true. The idea that if only they had broken the news to the community in a better way would have made people more comfortable with it is nice. But look, they wanted to give us a spoonful of sugar on the lighting changes so they did it this way.
How are you going to sell the third season when it has less stage content than the previous two seasons?
The stages are basically available for free with the free game anyway. It’s not really a selling point for the season. Remember, all modes are open for everyone for free. It’s just the characters and costumes/accessories that are locked. If you are playing the free character you don’t play Survival only on that characters stage.

I gotta say, bad news or not, I’m super impressed with the dogged insistence that they might be trolling.
This carries over to all the people suggesting that the silver lining might be Ultimates. Guys, they have said only Shago has an Ultimate over and over again. Then when you find out there aren’t any we will have the same shocked disappointment. I might take this as an opportunity to adjust to realistic expectations for the season, not as an excuse to jack up other things on my wish list.
19 Stages…

Where do the 21 come from.
Sorry, just bad math on my part. We will get 20, if you count Shadow Tiger’s Lair as a separate stage, which it is. I did character math instead of stage math and forgot Omen has no stage (gasp - a character without a stage?! How could it be!!!)
I think people need to stop attacking those who feel upset. For me, and most others, it isn’t because “waaaa we only have 20 stages instead of 25, waaaaa”
No one is attacking people who feel upset. I see a lot of folks being more respectful, frankly, than some of the negative posts deserve. What people have a problem with is the hyperbole and extent of complaining and the unrealistic demands that some (by no means all) people keep making. It’s also true that on the forum people are going to express their opinions and discuss them. So maybe everyone should just take it as friendly discussion.
still hyped but a little disappointed.
This encapsulates my feelings perfectly.

There’s been a lot of optimistic and wishful thinking filling up the information void for S3, and I really do think people need to hold themselves a bit responsible for unrealistic ideas rather than blaming the devs for not meeting them. People keep saying stuff like “S3 has been in development for almost a year! We should have 12 characters, Ultimates, updated classic costumes, No mercies and it should all run in 1080p on DirectX12! Add in whatever else I like, even if I’m the only one!” Then there’s all kinds of comments on the value proposition for a S3 that has no price tag and for which we know very little about the content.

And I guess I’m just a die hard hopeless fan of the game, but I’m looking forward to the new content. Would I rather have 9 new stages than 3? OF course! But I’d rather have 3 new stages than zero. And, respecting everyone’s right to be disappointed, I don’t think it’s EVER appropriate to go off on the developers for wrecking the game or not loving us or ruining the hype etc. You guys have no idea what they have had to do to bring us this game over the last 2 and a half years.

Stages have been an integral and beloved part of the game. People are upset. Some people are REALLY upset. That is all to the good and we should all be expressing those opinions on the forums. But let’s try to keep our comments reality based and civil at least.

shadow jago and Omen are “spin off” of Jago, for their unique internship is right.

I just realized something. What if the thord stage is the training room?

This could also mean that there may be alternative existing stages like Shadow Tiger Lair. Though, it would still mean technically “more than 3” stages, so maybe not.

It’s so weird.. every character has a theme.. but not a stage where the theme “lives.”

So im going to guess that the person who selects the stage would have their dynamic theme right? this is very confusing due to all of the themes fitting with the levels they are used in. Any word when we can find out more about whats going on?

So I think it’s time for my 2 cents.

Like everyone else I read the news yesterday and I was very disappointed but I refrained from commenting as the worst thing you can do is react on emotion.

I wanted to sleep on it to be able to rationalize everything and think of possible solutions.

What we know:

They already stated, guest characters are not part of the story.

And we know Gargos will be coming through a portal.
Rash appears through a portal.

They already showed 2 of the 3 levels (arbiter and Kim wu)

This is my idea of the 3rd level.

It’s an adaptable level:

Think of it like the training stage with the classic background. It’ll look like a portal, a little more complexe than the training stage.

It’ll show a personalized feel of the new characters as they will all come from the portal, but because they are teleported from different areas you will get a peak at their stage through the portal.

I think that’s be awesome.

Yesterday I was ready to throw a tantrum, but today I’ll give IT the benefit of the doubt no matter what ends up happening with the 3rd stage.

Believe it or not, the timing is excellent, here’s why, with the KIWC, they got the hype machine to an all time high, next week we’re going to get more positive announcements, so this "bad news will drop the hype level bit but it’s far enough from the event to not take too much away from it’s hype train.

Everyone is allowed to she or disagree with whatever they want, let’s just do it in a respectable fashion.

Remember the dev team is as passionate about KI as we are, there’s no way they’d let us down like that

So, I’ve made it thus far and I have my own two cents concerning this thread and the community. This is very important.

Some of you need to learn to use paragraphs and punctuation. That is all.

They confirmed at the KI world cup that Rash has a new stage. I don’t know what Tusks storyline is and whether he has any affiliation with Maya but i could imagine some stage sharing going on. Like when they say 3 new stages maybe their will be some alterations to existing stages if they are being shared like Gargos being on Kan-Ra’s stage but the back ground is more distorted when Gargos plays on it. Eagle could share Thunders stage or an Ultratech one depending on whether he is good or not. I’d like to think key characters like Gargos have some sort of stage presence if they dont have one exclusive to themself. Just remembered that Shago already shares his stage so no doubt Gargos and all his minions will work from that stage

I really dont think the game feels half assed, they obviously dedicated resources to something else.

Ill wait and see whats going on first.

Adam has said on numerous occasions that stages are really expensive to make. So there was a giant allocation of resources that went into something else.

I hope there are other features that will make up for only 3 stages this season, besides the lighting makeovers. Honestly, KI isn’t really starved for stage quantity at this point but could use more content in other aspects. Like different modes, for example.

She was the name of Maya’s sister, in Maya’s backstory. People think she might become a potential character.

I wonder how much s3 will actually cost. They can’t charge for newides and lighting change cause they’re part of the Base game. We know we’re getting 3 lore characters and at least 2 guests. I really hope that if there are any other characters, they are new one and not more guests just to fill put the ranks.
Tusk NEEDS HIS OWN STAGE!
If there is a community fund it better not be for more stages or shadow characters.

Exactly, they don’t just appear out of thin air they take a lot of time to develop when the game is at a stage where new modes, characters and accessories should prioritise more stages. Before this announcement there was various threads about how characters and stages needed touching up how can they do that if u want more and more things every time. They have built the foundations its time to paint over the jagged edges

Ok catching up… Time to do some straightforward responding for the ever-growing thread:

No. Don’t twist those words. I did NOT say now. Shadow Jago is the only character with an ultimate. That’s it!
I’m thinking (and @Rukizzel, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong or simply reading too much into this) that by 3 NEW stages, there will be 3 MORE stages for S3
This is a subject we knew would be a hot topic, so our wording is very precise in the article. When we said 3 new stages for Season 3, we meant 3 stages. The qualifier new is used because you don’t have them yet. So Kim’s is one… you’ve caught a glance from the second, and you’ll know the third in no time at all.

Setting expectations here: Shadow Jago is the only character with an Ultimate.

When the time comes, of course I will. For now I would say kick back and try to enjoy the weekend.

I’ll give you a little hint in to our thought process - we don’t want you to sulk on anything negative for too long…

Got their answer?! Like Adam said (and myself before) we knew we needed to get this news out now, because everything from here on out is all gravy.

everything was perfect before this announcement, I hope IG back on his feet while it is still time, and not make wrong choices. The community is the mirror of the game.

I think Adam left that up to us what to vote for when the time comes.

So essentially you are starting off the announcements with nerfs, then going straight to buffs?

You absolutely already know that’s what they’re doing.

Time for another theory, because it’s best we try something constructive rather than what’s been said by some.

So, the quote goes “3 new stages total”, so the theory apart from the day/night variation in stages is that we get the practice/dojo mode stage as an option.

Further to this option, the musical choice could determine the background image. This will include the current classic stages already in the game. Will this mean IG will add the stage music and background images from KI2 to increase the stock of the options for practice stage? Who knows, but this would mean far more options than we had originally assumed.

This might not resolve the absent stages everyone was expecting to see, but I guess it will suffice to give the appearance of stage variety.
