I want to agree with this. But history suggests it’s not true. The idea that if only they had broken the news to the community in a better way would have made people more comfortable with it is nice. But look, they wanted to give us a spoonful of sugar on the lighting changes so they did it this way.
How are you going to sell the third season when it has less stage content than the previous two seasons?
The stages are basically available for free with the free game anyway. It’s not really a selling point for the season. Remember, all modes are open for everyone for free. It’s just the characters and costumes/accessories that are locked. If you are playing the free character you don’t play Survival only on that characters stage.

I gotta say, bad news or not, I’m super impressed with the dogged insistence that they might be trolling.
This carries over to all the people suggesting that the silver lining might be Ultimates. Guys, they have said only Shago has an Ultimate over and over again. Then when you find out there aren’t any we will have the same shocked disappointment. I might take this as an opportunity to adjust to realistic expectations for the season, not as an excuse to jack up other things on my wish list.
19 Stages…
Where do the 21 come from.
Sorry, just bad math on my part. We will get 20, if you count Shadow Tiger’s Lair as a separate stage, which it is. I did character math instead of stage math and forgot Omen has no stage (gasp - a character without a stage?! How could it be!!!)

I think people need to stop attacking those who feel upset. For me, and most others, it isn’t because “waaaa we only have 20 stages instead of 25, waaaaa”
No one is attacking people who feel upset. I see a lot of folks being more respectful, frankly, than some of the negative posts deserve. What people have a problem with is the hyperbole and extent of complaining and the unrealistic demands that some (by no means all) people keep making. It’s also true that on the forum people are going to express their opinions and discuss them. So maybe everyone should just take it as friendly discussion.
still hyped but a little disappointed.
This encapsulates my feelings perfectly.
There’s been a lot of optimistic and wishful thinking filling up the information void for S3, and I really do think people need to hold themselves a bit responsible for unrealistic ideas rather than blaming the devs for not meeting them. People keep saying stuff like “S3 has been in development for almost a year! We should have 12 characters, Ultimates, updated classic costumes, No mercies and it should all run in 1080p on DirectX12! Add in whatever else I like, even if I’m the only one!” Then there’s all kinds of comments on the value proposition for a S3 that has no price tag and for which we know very little about the content.
And I guess I’m just a die hard hopeless fan of the game, but I’m looking forward to the new content. Would I rather have 9 new stages than 3? OF course! But I’d rather have 3 new stages than zero. And, respecting everyone’s right to be disappointed, I don’t think it’s EVER appropriate to go off on the developers for wrecking the game or not loving us or ruining the hype etc. You guys have no idea what they have had to do to bring us this game over the last 2 and a half years.
Stages have been an integral and beloved part of the game. People are upset. Some people are REALLY upset. That is all to the good and we should all be expressing those opinions on the forums. But let’s try to keep our comments reality based and civil at least.
