Killer Instinct Season 3 Graphics Shine Brighter

Whoa. I went to bed and woke up to this article on fb. Couldn’t wait to read it and saw nearly 500 posts. New lighting system looks awesome and I know you’ve stated that the stages take up a lot of time of budget.
BUT…
It’s been nearly a year now since aria dropped and I know we’ve had shago and shadow lab in between but I’d like to known what the time and budget had been spent on? Please God not the pc version at the expense of the xbox.
Have to say I loved the fact that everyone had their own stage. I was wondering why we’d never seen rashs stage before now.
Hate the fact the arbiter has his own stage. Hes a guest. Surely ki characters should come first.
Also with the confirmation of no ultimates have you guys went back and added stage ultras to the other s1 and s2 stages?
5 stages in 20 is a bit poor then.

Td:lr not happy with only 3 stages but do the rest of the stages now have stages ultras and properly animated ones at that?

Did they confirm her in the game? Do you have link to where they said that there is a character named Mira?

MMM, still misunderstanding, considering how the sentence has been written. I don’t know why, but I have doubts regarding 3 stages only for the entirety of Season 3…

However, even if it happens, that would be a problem, but still bearable and solutions might be applied in the future. Instead, the huge problem would be if they decide, by writing on forum or by announcement in the 25th February conference, to apply the subscription fee system of 6,99 € per month in order to play online even for PC gamers.

That would be a huge, great flop and disappointment.

EDIT:

Ok it seems 20 stages is a reality. However, the last sentence brings hope to the confirmation of the rumors of no subscription fees for PC gamers. Perhaps, also a virtual currency?

Wow that’s a lot of response on this topic. Just got off work this late night at and skimmed what the hell is going on here. As far as I see, only 3 stages? Sad. More than 3 characters at launch? Ok.
(Btw that was h311 and not fudge) :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah agreed. They knew it would get a huge response. Seems like a post breaking down the reasons would have been better.

I do think that new lighting looks incredible btw.

Yes, If you ask me, That word isn’t worth censoring.

Late to the party. Just read though it and I’m a bit surprised no one have speculated that this might mean, in S3, they have added new and more stage ultras instead of more new stages. Since there already are (will be) 20 stages and it’s a highly requested feature.

I also speculate Ultimates are coming. It’s been stated and pointed out by @rukizzel that Shago is the only one with a Ultimate in game now. As in out now, that’s what I get from that statement. So because of that I still have hopes for Ultimates in S3. Not so much that I want them, but then people perhaps would shut up about them

Right? They must’ve worked so hard re-working ALL stages again that there had to be a reason for that.
It’s getting late and I’m off to sleep. PLZ hope nothing goes wrong from the overall news.

It’s mircosofts choice… Double Helix didn’t bring KI back.. Microsoft did.. all the choices and decision made back then are the same now. Not IG fault.. its talk between them both on moving forward.

Also, venting anger now when we have not info on the while season is very childish. Let’s see how fast you come around when it drops…

Oh and using full stops in your sentences would help for better reading

I gotta say, bad news or not, I’m super impressed with the dogged insistence that they might be trolling.

Community: “Maybe they’re trolling us, you know? They’ve done it in the past.”
Devs: “We’re not.”
Community: “… maybe that’s a troll?”
Devs: “We have trolled in the past, but we’re not joking about this one.”
Community: “So when you say ‘3 stages’, do you mean ‘8 stages’? When you say ‘only’, do you mean ‘at launch but soon there will be more’?”
Devs: “No. Only 3 total stages.”
Community: “I see, just want to hit us up with more stages in the future then!”
Devs: “This is not a joke. There are only 3 stages. This is 100% true. We are not joking this time.”

The time that would have been spent on several new stages was spent on developing a new lighting system? Makes sense and to be fair time well spent imo. All u need to do now is confirm that there are some sort of plans for a season 4 where u will be adding new stages again as the time won’t need to be spent re-developing existing stages…

As disappointing as it is to get only 3 stages, I’m sure the trade off for whatever else they have in store will be worth it. I at least hope that Gargos gets his own stage since he is the final boss (I’m assuming). I think people need to cool down a bit and maybe wait to see what they have in store for us.

With the new lighting, the PC port and whatever else they have in store will be a good trade off.

As long as Gargos is playable, I will be satisfied (If he isn’t, I will become very sad).

Post 500! Wee!

In regards to the new lighting:
“Let there be light!”
“He shall light the way.”

In regards to the stages:
“The end is nigh!”

Looking at the screenshots of the lighting, I particularly like how much scarier Sabrewulf looks as a result of the changes. I hope the rest of the cast looks equally, if not more so, as great as that.

I’m thinking (and @Rukizzel, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong or simply reading too much into this) that by 3 NEW stages, there will be 3 MORE stages for S3 - and since we’ve already basically seen the stages for both Kim Wu and Arbiter, those don’t count as “new” per sé. In other words, there’s actually going to be 5 stages in total for S3, not 3, which may also mean there’s going to be 5 characters (and if I had to hazard a guess as to who they are, it’d be Rash, Kim Wu, the Arbiter, Tusk, and Gargos - the last of which may not even be playable at all and if that’s the case, may be replaced with the proposed and formerly mentioned discarded vampire character, which in itself, like Gargos, has not actually been confirmed or denied as of yet either). Then again, @Rukizzel’s statement was pretty straightforward and succinct - and if that’s the case and there truly is ONLY 3 STAGES, then well, as fan, that makes me want to cry…

…and hope that there’s a LOT more to S3 than they’re letting on.

If it turns out to be only 3 stages and the 4 confirmed characters (Rash, Kim Wu, Tusk, and Arbiter), along with the S3 adjustments, menu adjustments, and new lighting at release - I will be absolutely bitter after having waited so long. If that’s what you’re doing to me, IG, then I’m letting you know in advance that, in terms of content, I think you’d be dropping the ball. So, please surprise me, show us something more in the coming weeks, and prove to me that I won’t be disappointed with what you have on offer for us. Do that, and you will score with me, big time…

I can’t help thinking you’re parenthesising and omitting text here - 3 stages total (when the game launches, no wordd on what happens to other characters) just as an example.

Something’s out with that announcement, I say.

Whilst I respect the work of the lighting team etc, I don’t care as much as the vast majority of gamers about graphics, for relatively understandable reasons. This is why I’m thinking there’ll be more stages after launch, simply because each character should have a stage, as it brings out the extra easter eggs and referencing that we’ve been used to before and it would make the game feel rather disproportionate in terms of characters VS stages.

If only to insert a Positive comment into the mix of things, I really don’t mind at all that we are only getting three stages.
Twenty stages is plenty considering the overall quality of each one. I’ve been playing Street Fighter V and I don’t think a single stage in SFV outclasses one from KI. Stages are aesthetic at the end of the day, not as genuinely game-changing as a character or new combat related feature. Likewise, the lighting changes are coming at a good time - before KI starts to feel its age so much visually.

In regards to "Season 1 and Season 2 had 9/8 stages so Season 3 should:
Is there anything that wrong with modifying what a “Season” entails? This is the perfect time to mix things up, experiment, and give Spinal a solid-orange Color 10.

What makes you think that Gargos, the final boss, if he is in the game, wouldn’t have a stage but Arbiter, a non canon guest character would?

Because the Arbiter’s stage has already been shown in his preview video. Gargos has yet to be shown at all.

It’s also for this reason, that I have a firm belief that 1 of the new stages is, in fact, Rash’s stage.

People keep bringing up Gargos. Has he been confirmed? He’s brought up constantly like he has been.
