I made a lobby and sent you a invite
Everything OK? I saw your post, why did you delete it? If you need me, I am here right now.
No it’s fine. I was going to say to switch from TJ to Kim, but I realized I’m the only TJ up there. I would feel wrong to not fill that void for someone who truly needs it. I’m not going to switch with a Day 1 character, when I already have a character that I have been using since I first started KI.
No Worries. Thank you for caring though! ![]()
@MrxFlutterShy - I’m about to kick out a few S3 Hisako Tech videos in the next day or two, would you mind adding a link in to the OP when they’re uploaded? I’d greatly appreciate it. ![]()
Yes.
Which reminds me, I still need to go watch another video above.
I’m a main in Orchid, Hisako, Glacius, Sadira, Maya, and Spinal. I’ll make sure you’re fighting like a pro. hmu if anyone is interested. gt: FR33ZINGPHO3NIX
Hey folks.. New to KI and looking to learn and get my feet under me. I’m semi new to fighting games in general and totally new to KI. Picked it up yesterday. I bought Hisako and Thunder to get started with and plan on kind of co-maining them for a while. Might pick up Tusk when he’s available on PC, but thats not a priority really.
Ive heard KI has pretty much the best netcode around, so location probably doesnt matter as much, but, just in case, Im located in Kentucky.
Any way, look forward to maybe getting some matches with folks here and will be adding a few of the GTs listed.. So if anyone gets a friend invite from NtropicByDesign (my ■■■■ E wont fit =/ ), that’s just me. If anyone happens to see this, add me, Id love to get some folks together who don’t mind a total noob learning. I learn quick though. I’ll be off and on all evening. It’d be great to get some games in. As of me typing this I haven’t played anyone else yet, just going through the tutorial and playing occasional CPU matches.
Thanks guys, and I have to say, I’ve been trawling streams and such and the KI community in general seems a few steps above the FG communities I’m familiar with. I’ve had pretty good experiences so far.. Considerably less ‘stfu newb’ kinda stuff and a little more maturity. Not too much maturity though. Cause that is just boring.
I added you.
long time follower of KI, just downloaded it for PC and playing through the dojo to learn everything. I’m stuck on lesson 18 and need some help. I’m supposed to crouch heavy punch and then fireball while they’re still in the air but I can’t get the timing. I watched a video of someone doing it on youtube and I’m pretty much at a loss. It looks like from the video I’m supposed to input the fireball almost immediately after the punch, but when i try to do it that fast nothing happens after the crouching HP, and if I wait to do the fireball, then the opponent hits the ground.
A couple preemptive thoughts: 1) I’m new to fighting games other than smash bros so I’m sure there are some intricacies to fighting game inputs in general that I’m unaware of. 2) I have a basic logitech controller and I’ve heard that fight sticks are easier, though I can’t imagine they make inputs THAT much easier since i’ve heard a lot of pro players use controllers too.. (i’m guessing a fightstick isn’t going to be that noticeable of a difference that it would enable me to do inputs that I struggle with before) 3) I really find the forward, down, down forward (dragon punch?) input really challenging.
Can anyone think of some pointers, or maybe fill me in on what I’m missing with this lesson? I have a strong feeling there’s some small intricacy that I’m missing rather than it simply being a matter of timing as I’ve spent over an hour on this lesson trying to vary my timing with no luck.
thanks in advance!
If I’m understanding you correctly, your issue is that you aren’t getting the cancel to come out? Basically, in KI all normals (or nearly all of them) let you cancel their recovery into a special move. If you aren’t getting anything, then you’re doing it too early - if you’re getting it too late, then it may be that you’re inputting the fireball after the HP has gone into recovery, where it’s no longer a cancel. You’re basically just missing that sweet spot by a few frames most likely. Keep practicing, and you should eventually get it. You want to be completing the fireball input as your HP is hitting the opponent.
If you are not used to a fight stick, then it will emphatically NOT improve your execution, at least not in the short term. If you’ve grown up playing on controllers and not in arcades, then getting a fight stick is quite unlikely to improve your execution much. There are some things that are easier to do on stick, but there are also a few things that are easier to do on a pad. Whichever controller you’re comfortable using should be the controller you use.
A lot of newer fighting game players do
Just think of it as forward->fireball motion, and that should help you do it more easily. It’s something that will really only come with practice, so take a few minutes sometime and literally just do DP’s from one end of the screen to the other. Do that 2 or 3 times going back and forth across the stage every day for a week (shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes), and you should be more than set on DP execution.
Welcome to KI! ![]()
who are you looking to use?
Thank you! i figured there was something I didn’t understand. Although, obviously i need to practice too.
Well I use omen and rash. But I really like orchid
same!!!
I’m starting my KI career with TJ Combo, and I have an affair with Hisako.
I would agree. I have a fightstick, but it has taken a while to get used to it. The problem is that executing commands is primarily a muscle memory issue, and a fightstick uses vastly different sets of muscles than a controller does, so you literaly have to relearn how to play, which can take days or weeks.
Being a controller warrior myself, I really wish MS would make a good solid 6 button controller. Sadly the last good first-person 6 button controller was the N64 controller, and I’m sure that’s even debatable.
Oh hey storm! I didn’t recognize you yesterday. You got a good hisako.
Lol. I’m hurt - I totally recognized you ![]()
Thanks though - they were fun matches ![]()
My bad dawg. No it wasn’t. You bodied me lol I got sent to losers by Sleep LMAO
is orchid stronger than sadira?
