KI4 Getting Announced at E3 2019, Release in 2020 before EVO?

Kinda disappointing to not see any mention of a new KI. My one tiny tiny hope is that there’s a guest in the new Battletoads.
Still, some kinda State of the Union type address would be nice from IG or MS. Its killing me to not know if KI is getting a sequel or its going back to the grave again.

yeah scarlett in '20, not sure about the ps5. i just know i got until april 16th 20 to get my new rig built lol.

ahh ye olde CPU install. the best part of the build, lol. its always fun applying arctic silver paste too, cuz too much and apparently its detrimental. but then you read forums and everyone says nah its ok at which point the entire forum engages in a parking lot brawl.

oh yeah, just upgrading the GPU on a pre-built machine is hard work lol, i want to know how many little johnny’s mishandled these behemoths when installing them. the cards now have weight to them and how much you wanna bet they’ve snapped them at the PCIE slot completely bricking a 1k GPU lmao.

as for the linux stuff, ■■■■■■■ LOL yup. i dont know anybody save a couple coffee shop hipsters who use linux and even those guys use windows for their gaming PCs. good point on the OS btw, that was something i overlooked in mentioning (and what many do when considering the cost of a PC).

we havent even touched upon the part where you have to mess with a game’s settings, and if you have an extensive background in PC gaming like i do, then you know that its not something you always do within a game’s menu. granted, you only go this far if you’re on an outdated toaster.

So Scarlet is gonna be completely backwards compatible with every game on Xbox One. Well. Time to sell my xbox one.

Well, considering they just put Banjo-Kazooie in Smash Ultimate…maybe they might at least have other Rare characters in the form of Mii costumes, meaning maybe some classic KI characters? :man_shrugging:

Ha ha! I know right..its so worth it! I really dislike having to get up and put in the disc but I also want to have the opportunity to trade the game in if I decide too. Decisions lol

Who’s going to buy it?

I don’t know. Used games store?

I really hope killer instinct gets a scarlet reveal even if not on launch at least launch window, but I think it needs to do things a bit differently this time.

-It needs to bring back everyone from this game, they got a break because it was a reboot last time but now with all the time they had they won’t get that leniency from a lot of people

-At least 2 new characters added so there is reason to play the new game over the old

-Ultimates for all characters

-Stages and stage ultras for all characters

-ki1 and 2 costumes for the whole cast that more accurately recreate the old designs sans thunder who for obvious reason would need new costumes

The saddest part is that now we probably have to wait a year before we get any solid news on a new KI.

I like all of this except Hisako might as well remain as Shin Hisako now, I’m sure they can keep making Kilgore more unique too.

If we have solid info on a new KI a year from now I will be thrilled. I mean that in all seriousness. I know a lot of people think that a new game is a given, but having lived through 17 years with no sign and very little hope that there would ever be another KI, I am not taking it for granted.

Hahaha *Sobs.

I predict we will see an anouncement for another iteration in the series a year after Scarlets release. That would be my guess.

I predict we see it next E3. A title like that, it’s gotta launch with or close to the system. So it can span the whole lifecycle.

If you think KI4 will set a new graphical standard like they did in the 90’s, I would have to disagree with that prediction. Mortal Kombat has a MONSTER and seasoned development team with a lot of money behind it. No doubt KI4 would show off the power of Scarlet hardware but I think it would be a long shot to reach the quality that Netherrealm has reached. Remember that KI3 changed hands so IG (or whoever) would need to build this from the ground up.

Anyway, KI4 is super secret right now if it even exists. We are definitely overdue for some news at this point. I can join in by saying I am really antsy and concerned for KI.

for sure for next year

There’s essentially no way for any developer to make the splash that KI did in the 90’s with graphics these days. The graphical improvements are all way more subtle than the giant leaps they were making (mostly faking) back then.

This is true, and I personally really like the way MK11 looks. But there are definitely areas (animation) where NRS leaves headroom for better competitor to claim the crown of best looking fighting game. If we threw the question open right now there would be a huge and contentious debate about which fighting game is the best looking.

To me, it’s not about a new KI being “the best” graphically. It’s about it making a distinct visual impression. I actually think KI 2013 did pretty well in that regard - with shadow moves especially, and the big particle effects everywhere.

the last time i can honestly say a game that made a splash similar to KI was Doom 3 back when its early screenshots were released. holy ■■■■ man, that 1st gen ID Tech engine was a humongous leap forward for PC gaming back in 2002 - 2003. bump mapping was created and so muscle structure on the demons was no longer painted on as a texture map but was actually now polygonal as an example.

the demons looked amazing and pretty terrifying, then you had the environments rendered with that engine looking pretty scary too bringing in actual shadows and darkness, rather than just a dimmer tint in a dark room that we were used to seeing. the light sources would illuminate your attackers in real time further adding creep factor and visual fidelity as well.

ID software imo raised the bar so high that it got us to where we are today in terms of graphics and visuals. everybody else had to really start putting down some real work, and they did not long after to stay competitive. when somebody drops the gauntlet again, raising the bar, i would love to see it. however, im not so sure we will until years out, its hard to pull off. we are all used to seeing what we have been seeing. where we could go from here, to make us feel like kids on christmas morning again, is something i cant currently imagine at this time.

This could be a great poll for twitter! :+1:

I know this post is dated but you think since banjo made it to smash ult, that Link could be dlc for SC6 at some point???

I highly doubt it. SC6 would need to be on the Switch first.
