That’s also possible.
Haha. I think it was kind of fun to talk about some of the more hypothetical inside-baseball development stuff. I wasn’t expecting anything, so no disappointment about it on my end
NOw that SKarlett is announced for Holiday 2020 with Halo as a launch title…I would hope that the new KI would be a launch title as well for SKarlett. If KI isnt being worked on right now as a SKarlett launch…then I fear we may never get another KI.
This is MS’s chance to have a fighting game once again on launch as an exclusive. It worked for the ONE…hell most of us here bought a ONE just for KI… it will work again with Skarlett
I would still like to see a sequel announced but if they were working on it all they had to do was play Sabre’s howl at the end if they had nothing to show and that still would have been a lot better than nothing.
With all the money Phil has available at his disposal all I’ve seen is a few decent looking games, buncha stuff that put me to sleep, a nice sounding new console, legos and corporate nonsense rambling, only people that speak English anymore are the old timers.
The fact that zero love was shown to ki this e3 doesn’t mean that it’s not being made but not showing it at the perfect opportunity to leads to believe it’s more likely that Phil is more about fluff than filler. Making new games and no support for their already great titles save the same 3 for 15 years now is pretty insulting to any fan who buys the console for their choice of game outside of the basics.
There is still hope for a new one come 2020 but I’ll be playing this one for 15 more years prolly if they don’t make a new one, no suit is gonna kill my fun, even if it’s only halfway done, ki is still the jam.
I agree it was a missed opportunity. But they didn’t show a single game for Scarlett other than Halo Infinite (which didn’t look any better than current gen games as far as I could tell). So there’s still plenty of opportunity between now and launch (let alone the end of Scarlett’s life cycle) to get a new KI on the machine. My only fear is we haven’t heard so much as a peep from MS suggesting they’re interested in making it.
The machine will need launch titles. But I have a feeling it’s not going to need them as badly because it will be backward compatible and just run everything at higher resolution and frame rate. But who knows? The announcement today was information free. “We are working on a new console. Here’s a bunch of people from the hardware team to read nonsense.” Not figuratively, literal nonsense like “Scarlett will be especially good for gamepass members because of the fast load times.” Huh?
Anyway, I sound crabbier about it than I am. The show was okay. Some decent stuff in their but nothing that really rang my bell. Keanu was a surprise, and kind of fun. But that’s not even an Xbox exclusive game. Legos in Forza Horizon was also unexpected but actually brilliant considering how those games play. But otherwise I didn’t see anything that makes me very excited. Lots of “maybe I will try that…”
DUde Game Pass right now…is stacked! If any of you guys dont have game pass and play a lot of big games and smaller games… its loaded right now and its so worth 10$ a month…easily!
Andy do you have game pass?
I do. I have mixed feelings about it. There’s no question that it’s worth the price on paper and I have dozens of games downloaded that interest me that I would not otherwise purchase. But I don’t play most of them, lol. And I have a suspicion that we are being conditioned to view games as a subscription rather than a purchase. Generally I’m okay with digital purchases, digital content and digital subscriptions. But I worry about what happens in five years when MS decides gamepass is going to be $20 a month then $30, and I have all my games wrapped in it.
But that’s speculative fear. I think it’s a great deal right now for sure and I think anyone who has time and/interest in playing games would probably do well to sign up. If they drop two full priced games a year on there it pays for itself and right now there’s way more than that.
i can agree to this, if there ever is a new KI and its only on scarlett, i will buy one JUST to play KI’s latest iteration. unless they go ahead and do a PC version at launch then i wont bother lol. the scarlett is impressive with its hardware for a console, but i dont see it worth my money since i have a really good PC, which i am going to upgrade over the course of the year to the new 3rd gen ryzen/X570 platform. still, its great theyre shoving more horsepower under the hood and console guys can get better experiences without having to know the potential horrors of building a PC on their own, plus the cost when you have to start from zero.
I hear you. I really enjoyed building my current gaming Pc. But it was a big investment of time and money and it requires a lot more upkeep than my console. EDIT: I’ve alrwady upgraded the graphics card once, for the price of a One S… This idea that if only you are smart enough you can build a cheaper better PC than the latest console is just not true.
PC gaming is great. But for most console users it’s not really a replacement and it likely won’t be in the near future.
If I’m not mistaken, all Gamepass owners have access to the latest exclusive releases.
This is true. All Microsoft studios games are avaible on launch
I definitely wasn’t expecting KI at E3 this year. Looking back on it now, I was probably crazy to think Fable would be at E3. I really think this E3 was more about winding down the current generation as opposed to what’s happening on next gen. I mean, were ANY new exclusives announced aside from Bleeding Edge?
Maybe they’re just not using the “Exclusive” term anymore since it was confusing, but with all the World Premiere’s they had, I didn’t get the impression many of them were big new projects only coming to XB1. There was a lot of DLC stuff, some nice looking indies, some multiplatform stuff and more trailers and info on games we already knew about.
I kinda get the feeling that with another year for currently owned studios to work on stuff and a console to launch likely five or so months after, that next year’s E3 is really when they’ll go all out. My guess is that’s when we see Fable 4, whatever The Initiative is working on, plus the first wave of exclusives coming from a lot of the studios they’ve purchased. I don’t have high hopes that KI will be in that group, but I’ll certainly keep my fingers crossed!
I still have a feeling that there is something for KI. KI Definitive Edition hasn’t been added to game pass yet. To my knowledge, it’s the only first party ip Microsoft has that isn’t on game pass. I’m predicting they’ll announce a new one at some point before Scarlet launches. Then they’ll put the Definitive Edition on game pass. Just a hunch though.
Gears tactics was a “blink and you’ll miss it” announcement. This is actually kind of a sensible game to make in a genre that works well on console and has had some resurgence lately. But no release date and fifteen or twenty seconds of gameplay…
Yeah I don’t know. This might have something to do with the various agreements with IG and DH? The game is on sale for $5 right now so it’s tough to believe there’s a strategic reason not to add it to game pass.
Who knows what we’ll see
Man at first I didnt feel Game pass was worth it…I purchased it and cancelled after 3 months…but then once FOrza Horizon 4 dropped…that game alone was worth the full year subscription price. Add all the other games plus discounts of games you may want to purchase (since game leave game pass after so many months). RIght now…its definitely worth it… no doubt about it.
I like how it has games I already own on disc. I dont have to put the disc in now LOL
nah its not true at all, even back then building a PC is more costly. youll see pc master idiots touting how they can build something cheaper than X new console of the year 20XX and it be 100 times faster. its ■■■■■■ BS, a new nvidia 2k series card is over 700 bucks easy, and GPUs arent getting any cheaper as tech rises.
i dont see the PC taking over a console guy’s gaming set up unless its heavily desired. ive had a couple friends make the switch and they absolutely love it, but it must be considered that starting from scratch theyre in close to 2000 bucks. the PC itself is gonna run you 1.2k to 1.5k. plus you need a monitor, keyboard mouse speakers. granted you can just skimp on that stuff, or go hunting on ebay for a decent monitor.
they couldnt build it themselves, nor did they even want to because when youre buying expensive components, those nerves start kicking in. so i built their rigs for them, completely free of charge so they can see some kind of savings. if they were anybody else i usually charge labor, its time consuming to do. other ppl however might not be so lucky, theyd have to pay someone, or grow some balls and do it themselves with zero knowledge aside from youtube vids
Yeah I remember the joy of dropping that $350 CPU into the socket on that $150 motherboard and hoping I didn’t just wreck them both and set myself back the cost of an Xbox One. It’s one of those things where, sure, it’s almost plug and play to build a PC these days. But as you sit squirting thermal paste onto the back of a CPU before adding your heat sink you realize that there’s a lot squeezed into that almost. Plus all the Hassle of getting the operating system up and running.
Most of those mouth off guys think that upgrading the GPU in the Alienware PC that their parents bought them three years ago is “building” a PC and that’s how they estimate the cost of PC gaming. They don’t factor in the rest of it. That’s all before getting the OS running or any software. I can’t tell you how many keyboard warriors have “priced out” their “better than Xbox” build and not included an operating system in the budget. “Use Linux.” Yeah okay buddy sure.
This sounds so dumb, but I have only two games on disc. One of them is Doom and I never finished it. I’m not even sure where the disc is so I’m looking at game pass going “oh cool, now I can play that again.”
Guys. Real talk. If big games like FFVIIr and Avengers are still launching on PS4 and the like in 2020, then WHEN are the next consoles coming out?
Actually we know that Scarlett is coming next years’s holidays
