Bleah, there are already enough generic guys with swords in that game. Plus fireballs are a huge part of his playstyle. Go with Orchid - she needs some love. Or Maya, since Soul Calibur has the Asian Schoolgirl Fetish problem and needs counterprogramming other than Ivy.
I won’t believe the leaked until Bandai Namco reveal some original/new characters and guests from the leaked on 4chan. Honestly, I’d rather choose Spinal or Hisako over Jago for some reason. But I am fine with any character from KI playable in SC6. It’s better than nothing.
BTW, I never knew Yuri in my life. Who is he??

Are you talking about the list in the original post, because Astaroth’s in that one.
As for the possibility of Jago being on the Xbox version, I think he fits just fine. He has the most name recognition of any character in KI that has a weapon except for maybe Spinal, and his overall look blends in pretty well.
That said, I think a Bloodborne hunter is a pretty cool option with tons of possibilities, especially if he can switch between weapons.

The first version of Tekken 7 had like 20 characters when it launched on arcades, didn’t it?
I’d hope for this to be true. Although if it is, wouldn’t that mean the exclusive guest characters won’t be tournament legal?

Style, aesthetic, none of it matches
Only parallels I can draw is iron galaxy being inspired by kilik’s previous Tiger knee gauntlets/ costume aspects and yun seong’s weapon.

Correct, system exclusive characters are banned as they technically count as an unfair advantage (because only part of the fanbase gets access to them).
To be fair, this is the same company that allowed Darth Vader and Yoda in SC4, and those characters were the most ill-fitting in terms of theming (basically having Sci-Fi characters invading a fantasy world). Honestly though I doubt Namco just stays in the shadows and doesn’t know about their competition, that would be disadvantageous to them, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they at least had a basic understanding of what KI is.
On that note, I agree with VerminatorX that Tusk would be a better choice of character, his design actually looks like something that Namco themselves would have made for one of these games, plus I think his moveset would work better in this engine as well.
As someone who enjoyed Soul Calibur: Link Version and (to a lesser extent, because it felt like the same game, but with more pixels) Soul Calibur Yoda Version, having an exclusive Killer Instinct fighter might just push me over the top to give SC6 a try. If it looks like I’m intentionally skipping every other version of Soul Calibur, I’m not- really! 
Asaroth was my all-time favorite in both games, and both Lizardman and Voldo were cool, but if I was to pick a KI rep to duke it out in a Soul Calibur, it’d be Spinal. His curved pirate sword and living wooden cthulu-esque shield check the boxes of workable Soul Calibur weapons, and I’d rather have a monster from our game to smack about their cast of “meh” anime-people, but an appearance by Jago would likely be the deciding factor to get me to continue the fight of souls and swords, eternally retold…
