With Xbox Studios shutting down the official Halo forums and the Gears of War forums tomorrow, I’m surprised they haven’t posted a “sunsetting” message for this board yet.
Forums have been going the way of the Dodo for years now, sadly.

Maybe if we’re lucky Microsoft completely forgotten about this website in general, making it not worth the effort in deleting it.
I mean if not even Halo or Gears is safe from a shutdown, then thats not exactly a good sign considering their entire Xbox brand is dependent on those two IPs.
Gears 5 and Halo Infinite must’ve really did a number to their bottom line.

I heard a rumor that the game we might get isn’t necessarily “ exactly” going to be killer instinct, but it will be the ( mostly )same combat schema. Combos ultra, combos counter breakers, etc. etc.
He said it’s not going to be Ki per se but we are going to get “something similar “ in the similar universe, but modernized.
and he stated he and the others who were in the meeting thought it was a great move.
It came from a personal message from a well-known ki /FGC content creator of which I subscribe to his Patreon.
I asked a couple of follow questions, and he just replied with “ ;)”
Until any concrete evidence shows itself, probably best to take it all with a grain of salt.
I mean less we forget what just happened recently with the “countdown” fiasco from Arcade 1Up… all that speculation and hype, and what was it all for? Just a simple lobby mode update for said machines.
Although if I had to humor the idea, a new IP using the current KI’s mechanics would be a strange decision, rather than just making an official sequel instead.
Feels like the total opposite of what fans were hoping for, as we’ve been on a KI drought since 2017. Thats 6 whole years of nothing, essentially.
Guess worst case scenario, maybe it ends up becoming a spinoff title, but again if by some miracle its ends up being true. But I still have my doubts.
A “not” KI? Interesting. I’m not opposed to it, but it a little discouraging imo. That said, however, this is just a rumor.
I wouldn’t be opposed to it, just so long as the game is good. It almost feels like Microsoft is sort of ashamed of KI or something, if not that they want to do their own KI universe(?) kind of like how Marvel has its own cinematic universe/comics universe. It’s weird.

You and me both. Unless there is a trailer or something more substantial, I’m not putting that much stock into rumors.
I miss there being a lot of content and reason to keep coming back here. Hopefully we’ll get something KI someday.
