I brought up Drahmin because Hellboy changes his club hand, just like Drahmin did in the 3D era games… something Ed Boon had expressed he hated and was the main reason he would probably not want Dahmin back in an MK game… yet here they are, doing the exact same thing for a guest character in Injustice, meaning that the club hand switch thing is no longer an excuse to not have Drahmin return.
Of course, that also doesn’t mean Drahmin WILL return. If NRS doesn’t want him in the game, he won’t be in the game. I just found that point worth noting.
Also, the reason the Revenants’ main playable skin aren’t their undead ones is because it would ruin the surprise that they were indeed Revenants in Story Mode.

re: Revenants. Ehh, I always thought it was more just to keep the same, familiar aesthetic to appease fanboys/secure sales. I mean, all those characters died in MK9’s story mode.
Because dying in MK isn’t a permanent thing.
NRS can have any dead character return in any game because of this.
And they did. Even in the new timeline.
I will never understand how people can, with a straight face, say stuff like “but that character is dead, so they can’t be in the next game.” Every character dies at the end of every round, then comes right back.
“But that’s not canon. It wasn’t in Story Mode.”
So what? And besides, how many formerly dead characters are in MKX?
Look, the developers can do what ever they want. And if the game can support Alien and Leatherface they can certainly stick in a few “canonically dead” MK characters if they want to.
Technically, he’s freaking playable in the game and he appears in the story mode. That’s all that matters. He can be as dead as the deadest dead a dead man can be deaded (and that’s a whole lot of dead), and they can still put him in the game and be playable.
On the topic of dead people being dead I feel like trigon should get some representation in injustice because of his power and lore. It would be cool Grayson was brought back to life as a servant of trigon similar to how slade used to be near the end of the trigon apocalypse arc in teen titans. He could use the cool demon axe slade stole from one of trigon demon gate guardians. It had an axe on one side and a blade on the bottom end. It could envelope itself with fire. Since it’s double sided specific moves from old robin could be placed in his moveset but on the whole his moveset could be new. Some of his attacks could even reference the other time robin went rouge as red X. Fire x projectiles or maybe bomb traps.
I just want to point out (whether your post is intended to apply to what I said earlier or not), that when I brought up those characters dying in MK9, I was responding to the fact it wouldn’t/shouldn’t be a surprise to fans that they were Revenants in MKX. So NRS should’ve just kept their default skins as Revenants, imo.
I’m w/ you, “death” really means nothing in the long run. I mean, I’m a fan of superhero comics. Surprisingly, even the “death” debate gets brought up in that medium every once in a while.
That’s the issue with gear vs. costumes. with costumes this would be an awesome idea that’s doable. But with gear the injustice devs said that unless the individual gear pieces work together with all the other gear they have they can’t make it. A cool idea like this may not work since the flaming skull part or the hands may look too weird when used with his other gear peices.
