I find it amazing that fulgore got better while everyone was normalized while he was already in a tier of his own in season 2 SMDH

He’s… so good, dude. lol

Among the best zoning, best rushdown in the game. Easy for him to flow between the two so he is hard to counter pick. Pretty good damage off stray hits that adds up over time. Tons of checkmate situations if you manage meter half-decently. Has a 3 frame meterless DP, so his defense is never that bad despite the fact he shadow counters less than average.

He’s hard to play, so you will rarely optimize all these things at once in a match. But the skill ceiling for him is through the roof.

I’d say top 5 for sure. However I don’t see how he competes against a Jago, Shadow jago or spinal. (My top 3).

On tournament streams I keep hearing people repeating that Fulgore is the best. If that really is the case then usage should be much higher instead of rare. I also don’t run into Fulgore very often online either.

It’s RARE to see a REALLY GOOD Fulgore. I play plenty of scrub Robots.

Yep. I am a scrub Fulgorel working on some new tech though.

You want to run a set?

Sure why not.

Ok give me 5 minutes.

11 minutes later…

Your just pissed cuz u keep losing to my fulgore and would rather ■■■■■ than practice new counters and learn new moves. I challenge you or anyone any day.

I keep seeing people say this…there are a lot of reasons why certain characters are played a lot and others aren’t. Ease of use is a pretty big one though - though Fulgore has a tool for every occasion, it’s not easy to use them all effectively in high level play and pressure. Fulgore has insane potential, but he’s relatively more difficult to use than a lot of the cast.

@DulXboxOne - Fulgore is like a Jago who does less damage, but has a better vortex and better high/low mixups. And oh yeah, he can cancel specials into specials, which is really, really good. I wouldn’t say Fulgore runs Jago over, but he easily “competes” with him. And Shadow Jago is mostly hat and no horse. His mix-up game is incredibly potent, but he is strictly punishable (often massively so) on every single special he has with the exception of surge divekick, which is still reasonably negative. Shago’s good, but Fulgore can do a lot of the same stuff (teleport shenanigans, crazy vortex, solid high/low mixups) without being -lol on everything.

I looked at this post earlier but didn’t make too much of it as I don’t often come across Fulgore players but I think I have beaten a few…that was until I went on ranked earlier and came across a lvl 50 Fulgore who got a Supreme Victory:unamused: Now based on 1 match where I actually paid attention to this character I can say I hate him. I found him the least interesting but I can see why everyone says he is OP, he can zone u out or teleport close and play footsies and grappling with you. In fact I remember playing against a Fulgore with Tusk but for some reason it wasn’t deflecting his charging punch thing (maybe it can’t but still). I think Fulgore has everything and can be used in any match up similar to Jago but I would say Fulgore in the right hands would more times out of 10 beat a Jago in the right hands.

Anecdotal

But as it were, last nights pro-cup tournament resulted in Thompsons Jago (Jago throughout the tourny) winning and taking the first place crown. And NIcky NS possibly the best S3 Fulgore at the moment taking 3rd place under Thompson and Sleep.

Fulgore has better mixups (when he has meter) than Jago, but Jago has better damage, a battery ender, flipout and possibility of health regen. The matchup looks pretty even to me.

I mean take it for what it’s worth Keits went on to say in stream chat that Fulgore is very very slightly worse in S3 in a cast of characters that all got scarier. It’s encouraging for me to see how well he understands the game and recognizes that the best special in the game medium laser got nerfed.

Sounds interesting, is it on youtube? I would love to see the Fulgore vs Jago match up at Tournament level.

I’d check the 8bitbeatdown channel for updates. Not sure if it’s uploaded yet. There were def some good matches. Everyone watching learned that Arbiter can chain combo carbine shots into themselves.

The tournament Top 16 was on the KI Twitch page (twitch.tv/killerinstinct), so you should just be able to go there and check the archive.
