How would you feel if Microsoft comissioned Netherealm for KI2?

… You just had to ruin my dream, didn’t you?

:grin::blush:

They con’t come up in critical reviews because the reviews NRS pays for are published publicly and the ones that point out stuff like this, NRS pays to have swept under a rug. Whether it’s that drastic or not eh… But it does happen. Small budget games are made better than big budget games because there is more at stake. If DH failed at delivering KI, we wouldn’t have the game that lasted until now. If a Mortal Kombat flops? They don’t care they have other games to live off of.

Ah, and you of course have a source of confirmation to back up this conspiracy of yours, right?

Well NRS is basically the Team Soul of this generation, and that guarantees at least one guest character in their games nowadays. I don’t see anything from Primal Rage getting in though, having giant dinosaur god beings being tiny versions of themselves would just be awkward (also who owns the IP for Primal Rage now anyways?). Knowing NRS they would just put Scorpion or one of the other ninja characters, assuming they didn’t branch out and put Shao Khan or something.

is there like, any proof of this? like, at all? this is the most ridiculous thing said about NRS I have ever seen. you’re hopefully just trolling, right?

Not NRS but WB does have shady review practices. I believe Shadow of War had their most recent paid-to-review controversy.

But I miss the “No cheese!!”

I know the chances we get a Primal Rage character are below low..But still, would have loved it. I’ll be totally happy with a KI - MK cross over alone <3

Gorilla handstand poot projectiles for the win!

I’ll pass. Netherrealm has a particular way of doing things. It works well for their games and fans thereof, but I’d prefer to have IG back at the helm for the sequel if only because it would promote having more variety in the people behind the big fighting game franchises. Sure Capcom and NRS are the titans of the FG world but it’s nice to have other groups like ArcSystems, Iron Galaxy, or Reverge Studios to promote competition and keep the properties varied and unique.

Plus I really like this iteration of KI. I’d like to think the folks responsible for it would be the best choice for bringing the ideas started here forward into the future.

We love NR’s games, but they’re not KI, they’re their own thing.

Also, WB owns NR, and they’re a publisher. They’re not an independent / work for hire studio.

Now an MK vs. KI game? That would be fun if the stars could ever align to make that happen.

It’s a lot more common than you think. Whether or not I can prove it is really irrelevant. I don’t rarely ever trust critic reviews because much like politics, it isn’t what the person thinks, it’s how much money it can take to sway their thoughts. If I can check private reviews and see 80-90% say the game needs improvement, and I see gamespot and other game critic’s giving it flying colors, there’s something missing. Simply put, it’s a privatized version of what Nintendo did with all of their IP’s regarding YouTube content. Basically, talk bad about our game and have your videos removed or demonetized. So you can’t tell me it isn’t happening when Nintendo decided to be blatantly out there with it.

NRS does a great job with MK/Injustice but for KI…?!?..

I really enjoy MK and Injustice but I feel that if WB/Netherealm made a Killer Instinct game:

  • Everything would become slower and more uniform
  • PC players would get the short end of the stick

Here’s a good question though…given that when it comes to finishers MK’s thing is over-the-top gore
and KI’s is over-the-top violence, how would that aspect be handled? I mean do you let Ermac pull Saberwulf’s entrails out of his mouth and have the ones that have been complaining that KI’s off-screen Ultimates are too kiddified cry louder or do you recommend that the MK side gets toned down and have NRS fans cry saying it’s MKvDC all over again?

So i believe the difference is in how DC and IG differ in ideals. DC didn’t really want anything gory, and while IG doesn’t either, they’re okay with suggesting it and to that end, we have some really gorey situations set up but not actually seen. Think about the Ultimates for a second. Glacius, Wulf, Fulgore, Riptor, Jago, Thunder… everyone has a finish that would definitely kill in MK’s universe. You wouldn’t get the gore you wanted, but you could keep the suggestion (oh oh oh, just remembered actual example. Sub-Zero’s win pose in Injustice 2).

Its either that… or they do what SF and Tekken were SUPPOSED TO DO :rage:, and make one game for each engine.

Personally I think it’d be fine if a cross-over went the way of Injustice’s Sub-zero win pose, but KI in terms of player expectation could be completely different. There have already been several people claim tons of BS about how KI used to have “real” fatalities (like Thunder’s turning Sabrewulf into a can of dog food :unamused:) and want to turn in into MKX in terms of gory finishers, if they go the DC route they’re just going to get louder because then they’d be dragging down MK with them.
…I don’t know…I just feel like it’d be a monster that once let loose you wouldn’t be able to put back in its cage, even for the main KI series. And personally I like being able to sit down at any time of the day regardless of who’s in the room with me, kids or otherwise, and enjoy KI without traumatizing anyone. I guess it’s kinda a dad thing.

No Iron Galaxy. No buy.
No Mick Gordon. No buy.
See where this is going?

Really? That’s a little too much don’t you think

Like @TempusChaoti said, MK vs. KI would be the ■■■■. both are based in Chicago, so it wouldn’t be hard for them to meet up at least. I think for finisher-wise, just be like Sub-Zero’s win pose and KI’s finishers; just have a bit more blood at least.
